      *User could reduce drag between trailer and car by extending nosecone from front of trailer towards rear of car. Even a simple meter long horizontal pole with a cone of 20cm diameter on the end could reduce this problem.*

    The Excalibur is the most streamlined trailer I ever saw. It is like the Tesla semi truck. If a dealer added rows of bars and hooks, similar to your current trailer, you would have the best of both worlds: greater range (less charging) and easy tie downs.

      P.S. I don't know European pricing, but in the US you can buy an almost new Excalibur trailer for about $2,100 on eBay. Example: www.ebay.com/itm/Excaliber-Motorcycle-Trailer-/272980174048

    A challenge for the trailer with lowest consumption with highest cargo capacity would be nice 👍

    Suggest testing some regular low open trailer with a fabric cover of different sizes and weight to see if size and weight play any major role

    I think the bumper flapping around was causing your higher consumption..I really wonder how that happened..

  • @per-erikkvarnerup8350

    Great initiative! Maybe you should take into account the drag from the snow on the hood. Regards /Pelle

  • @kitchendog
    @kitchendog 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I think the big flat rear part of the trailer, creates a lot of drag. And 300kg ekstra weight is a lot. But it looked a lot nicer, than most trailers.

    • @MacGuyver85
      @MacGuyver85 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I think if you would reverse the design you would get less drag. So drop shaped. That said things likely get a lot more complex with the flow of the air from the car.

    I'd like to see if the large gray trailer with the round front will give you better range and yet more room than your square front aluminum trailer.

    Hallo. You maybe think about a windshield in the roof of optimos prime? I think that can reduced the consumption.

  • @sergeyyevtukh388
    @sergeyyevtukh388 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    This video reminded me your older one about your trailer drag reduction idea...
    The manufacturer of Excalibur could build a top front cone for your trailer, of cours if they local and the price would make sense for you to order one. Potentially that cone could reduce drag of your trailer by about 5% or so, since your trailer is much narrower , and closer to back of OP, just by installing a cone you could achieve almost if not same reduction in drag, you experience with this white trailer. Also custom build stuff usually more expensive, at list in US, but it’s not gonna hurt to ask, right?

    You should really buy a lav mic. You can find cheap ones that plug into your phone, it would be a huge improvement in sound quality (regardless the orientation on your camera or the ambiant noises)

    I want you to test out the door ramp combination trailer the “debon” or something

  • @Zoli1972s
    @Zoli1972s 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Wow, finally you've tested my favorite trailer. I've seen many of them here in Germany. You should definitely sell your old trailer and try to get one, but with a nose cone beginning more close to the car.
    What about the length? Is it longer than your boxy trailer? I'm asking especially because you told once, you chose your boxy trailer to be short enough for better turnaround capabilities on narrow places.
    I'd suggest to test the big gray trailer with the door/ramp combination and of course the big black car trailer is also interesting.

      If you didn't know, it's a thing people do, making utility trailers into living trailers. It allows you to camp and not have people know you are there, they think you are some work van.

    It would interesting to measure consumption when the trailer is full loaded, and going up hill at 65 m/hour.
    And compare the results with the announced Tesla Semi-Truck.
    Can you test some "teardrop" trailers such as the nüCamp tag.nucamprv.com/
    I would love to convert the Excalibur trailer into a homemade camping caravan.

      He can't go that fast in Norway with a trailer attached. There is a speed limit of 80kph / ~50mph for trailers in most European countries. Of course, 60mph would be no problemo in Germany with this one, because it's been rated to that speed. ;-)

    If the electricity are created by burning coal.......are you really saving the environment? or making it worse......well i mean who really care about he environment lol

    • @lukeadv
      @lukeadv 7 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Yes, even using coal-generated electricity is better than a petrol car.
      Happily Norway's electricity is 98% renewable, so their cars will keep going long after the last drop of petrol is burned.
