    Sprinkle diatomaceous earth around the base of vine starting in mid-May. Not much, just maybe a quarter cup every couple of weeks. Adjust the date based on what you feel like is early Summer rather than late Spring. And don't worry about using too much, it's not going to hurt you (unless the kids try something with the word "challenge" in the name).

      John Kirby thanks. I have never really had a problem with these that I can remember. I have had issues with squash bugs just not the vine borer moth. I will definitely try that. I have started new plants that I will be planting more squash and zucchini In place of the plants I lost and I will try this out. Lol true!

    Neem oil is good for organic gardening and all kinds of bugs.

      I also read something that said you could cut top and bottom out of milk jug and build diet up around it a little then plant plant inside. I have not tried this yet but would love to see if it works. I am working with companion planting this year hoping to keep them at bay.
