  • There's 2 problems solved here. First is how to change the view which populated the title block properties, the second is how to populate the properties on a second sheet with a view from another sheet! Yea, it was difficult to title this video as its a bit specific and random!! I can't wait for the less than 1k views this video will get!

    Very good Neil. Been using this for about 5 - 6 years. I've also created a title block which populates from the Drawing file properties. And another using Prompted text.
    I did these for people wanting to use a model and call it something else on the drawing sheet. Really enjoy your stuff.. . . . . Keep going. . . . . Thanks. Jim

    There is another option. Create 2 separate, but visually similar Title Blocks within your .idw Template, Drawing Resources Folder. 1 Title Block set to have Number field populated from the Model (.ipt or .iam) iProp as per usual & is used for Sheet #1 only. The 2nd Title Block set to have the Number field populated from the actual Drawing (.idw) file iProp itself and is used for all Sheets after #1

      Yes mine are all in the template in the title blocks folder and can be mixed & matched - - - -added & deleted as necessary in the drawing file.

    First way is new to me and helpful. The second way is a bit of a daily thing for me. First sheet dimensions, second sheet balloons, 3 sheet gets the BOM and a suppressed view of the assembly so all pages get the info.

    Hi Neil,
    Remember that anything off from the sheet will not print. Suppressing the view may make it confusing to some users.
    Thanks,

    Is it possible to display custom iProperties from two different assemblies(.iam) or parts (.ipt) in the same drawing sheet? For example. Bill of materias on an assembly, and a specific parts volume properties. I apologize if my question is not clear

    Hi Neil. Is there anyway to extrude a projected 3D sketch surface?
    What i gonna do is project a rectangle on a sphere and extrude it in asymmetric direction. but projected rectangle does no accept extruding.
    I didn't find any solved or helping topic in community.

    Isn't there another way to do the first but? I can't remember the details, but there's a button for "change model reference" or something like that.

    It is my experience that when doing a drag and drop of a view that has projected views it will treat it similar to a section view. Anyone know a way around this in order to get the first hack to work?

    Sorry probably not the place. But nice channel. I recently switched over from PTC's Creo Parametric to Inventor. And this channel assisted a lot already. Question, how can I get a hold of you if I non business related questions? As I read on the about section that we should not use the business inquiries e-mail to ask for personal assistance.

    Hi Neil. i was wondering if using these file properties we could identify if some student is cheating? ...we usualy have the same assigment for all students in the class, and is very hard to know (for sure) if someone has used another students file (just copied and presented as his own!). is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks a lot! cheers!

    Hey man. I've been watching you for the last couple of months when I started using Inventor for my Engineering class. Anyways, I'm modeling a stapler for a project and I need some help. I made it so that the different pieces of the stapler stay on a certain axis to turn on, but they can move anywhere as long as they are on the axis. I want them to stay put but still be able to rotate up and down without moving horizontally. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    There is a way to do this without the hack. I’m a bit fuzzy on the details, but it involves editing the drawing template title block

    • @Toolauction01
      @Toolauction01 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes-At my workplace we use a sheet that populates the titleblock by referencing the Iproperties of the assembly(ours references part number or stock number can't recall which unless I'm actually in it). It is a customized idw template with some ilogic rules I think.

    • @justinweber7547
      @justinweber7547 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes toolauction my title block does the same in my sheets. Not sure who made the sheets but they work differently than the one in the video.
