    thank you west yorkshire engine services for giving out information .i have been in the motor trade for 46 years as a diesel mechanic .and not many garages will tell you their secrets in engine diagnosis problems .especially main dealers .unless you know any one in that dealership .well done and hope people with the navaras .take note. and save themselves some money in the long run .i see navaras do not build their engines with the timing chain at the back of the engine . they are a nightmare and expense .for the owners .

    I have a 2009 d40 at my workshop. I take it for a drive and when it warms up it starts blowing blue smoke and then grey. I stop the Navara and i have a strong diesel smell with grey smoke then it stops smoking.. I disconnect the dpf pressure sensor and the engine stops smoking. I drive it and no smoke. Any thoughts

      My mate had a Vaxhall Zafera that had 350.000 on the clock. Did the first service at Vaxhall the rest by a local to him garage. Oil and filter every 6000 miles the rest every 12,000.
      His work mate had the same vehicle that was main dealer serviced by the book and had nothing but problems.

      Nissan recommend 12000 mile service intervals on these engines but I do mine every 7-8k due to the other half using it for her daily 8 mile commute. You should let your driving style dictate how often you service your motor. I try to give my Pathfinder a good run on the motorway (M60 ring road) at high revs as often as I can. It's not how fast you go but the higher the revs and the high temperature that will keep your car in good spirit.

    Help. I've so far spent an absolute fortune on my 2011 pathfinder Ti... and it's still not right. Symptoms were veh 4wd and engine light coming on, veh going into limp mode. This only happens when I'm under 1000rpm. Like at traffic lights etc. So far I've had the timing chain and injectors done (previous fault), but then I've had 2 suction control valves done. Fuel filter, oil filter. Eve though I've had the 2 scvs don't, the fault code is still saying P0089 which states the scv is stuck open. But we have replaced twice.... pse help. Anyone any ideas?

    There is one major supermarket's diesel fuel which I have found to be consistently sub standard in that it lacks the detergent cleaners to keep a high pressure diesel engine clean from carbon build up. My advice - avoid cheap supermarket fuel, it's cheap for a reason.

      Garage I use said the same. But arn't all fuels made to a BS/ ISO standard.
      Company fuel card can only be used at supermarket fuel stations to fill the van.
      Thinking back when I had a company car that had a shell card, that did 140,000 and never missed a beat..

      It's not like the supermarkets make their own petrol, I don't understand this argument. Fuel comes from the major oil refining companies, the distributor makes no difference.

    When you say don’t drive it soft, drive it hard, you mean get the engine revs up a bit?

    • @kimbird6554
      @kimbird6554 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      the engine needs a good run up the motor way at 70 mph if you can. this cleans out the system .the regeneration kicks in . short runs all the time clogs the manifold up. and the EGR valve .then comes the black smoking .

    • @sgal4374
      @sgal4374 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      These motors as with all diesels need a good run at high constant revs, a dpf regeneration only works when the engine is at a high temperature. It's no good taking it for a blast round your neighbourhood where your driving up and down the rev range. Jump on the motorway keep your speed constant and the revs high. I do this as often as possible just to give the bitch a good clear out!

    • @GMak81
      @GMak81 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Does this also apply to petrols? It seems common sense to run an engine to get everything heated up and lubricated, but I've just switched back to petrol and wondering if the same applies?

    Simple give your Diesel a Italian tune up weekly.. Yep drive it like you stole it a good 30mins plus.. Here in Australia that's recommended from dealerships for all brands,, be better if sales guys stop selling diesels to people who only do shopping runs no matter the vehicle sedans to off roaders...,, Here In Australia the New Toyota HiLux major DPF problems with the 5 injector and stinky blue smoke doing regen,, all the time,, Filter fine application doing regen and all the gear connected to it keeps taking a dump.... Now we have some clever people who have worked out away to fix it,, remove DPF filter place a dummy looking DPF to fool inspectors and a wiring harness loop to fool ECU and give correct data,, Keep the DPF Filter for when you sell it to make it legal...

      Roadside bridges walls any area on the road where concrete is passed by big diesels are starting to break up early,, cat pee destroying concrete, or good old add blue or what ever its called around the over parts of the world... We love the smell of a old dirty diesel in the morning LOL Keep the air clean you drive diesel vehicles nuts, Happy no junk on the diesels fill the air with muck and we can't breathe,, Nope we can't win....
