Hi! There are 2 Merchant and Mills patterns that may be suitable - the Whittaker which is a straight up and down dress with interesting details, and the Margo. They look great especially in denim xxx
Maybe try the Ora Pinafore by Soften Studio. I haven't made it myself, but I've heard good things and it sounds like it might be the type of thing you're after. What a great box!💙
I understand Grey denim is in style, kind of a neutral. Years ago I made one of my daughters a denim trench coat. It was definitely a labour of love! So much top stitching. I think a denim pinafore dress would be lovely. Great box!!
I've just cut out a free sewing pinafore pattern from Tiana's Closet "Vera". I've used a baby cord, but it could well work in denim too. . Might be worth a look . I'm sure the finished result will look great, whichever pattern you choose.
The Jennifer Handmade Ivy Pinafore is a great pinafore pattern. And the Rosey Cheeks label would look great on the hemline 😉 What great fabric in the box. Enjoy
Love my box too ❤ I made a Jennifer Lauren Handmade Ivy pinafore in Denim about 3 - 4 yrs ago in denim and it’s a lovely make and is more A-line. Definitely worth a look
Yes to the denim! Style Arc has a pinafore type dress. It's button down and you can wear it all year round with or without a layer. It's called the Geri dress and it isn't a tight pencil style so it may suit. My first thought though was to make the Closet Core Rika pants but you want to make a dress. The topstitching thread gave the game away for the denim and it is gorgeous. I love working with denim and really want to make a denim shirtdress (but need more denim).
lovely Denim. I know what you mean about needing the correct pinafore shape, sometimes I find them a bit to boxy! Its not really a pinafore but I made the Fiona Sundress in Denim and wear it with tops under instead.
There’s the Waves and Wild Penelope pinafore dress. I made it in needlecord a couple of years ago and love it; the skirt is A line and I suppose it’s the dress version of the Heydays dungarees.
Yes to a pinefore dress, I love them and different things under changes the look totally. I used a pattern I had made a tiered one, no sleeves so instead of buying a pattern use one you know looks good, arm hole slightly bigger to allow for merino jumpers and polo neck, make a trial first but I am sure you can do it, looking forward to seeing your make, regards Diana from NZ ❤🎉❤🎉🐸🐸🐸
Have a look at the Rodmell pinafore, Sussex Seamstress. I’ve made one in lime green canvas (cos I’m like that🤷🏾♀️) & now I’m halfway through a denim one.
Take a look at the Woman’s Josie Jumper by Peek-a-boo pattern shop. It’s a new pattern release with 25% off till Oct 9th $7.50. I am going to purchase this button down pinafore dress.
I’ve been eyeing up the Grainline Austin dress. The non-gathered version has a a-line pinafore look about it, with an interesting button detail/closure on the sides.
Gotta say as soon as I saw the label I knew it was denim. The thread made it obvious 😂 Indigo? Can’t wait to see the pinafore - I made dungarees merchant and mills 💖🦩💖🦩💖
I made the merchant and mills Margo pinafore. A line and a traditional bib. Came up a bit big sadly but a great make. I have also done the Seamwork Dani pinafore, that turned out lush! ❤
Lovely box as always with Andrea. Have you looked at the Amber Pinafore dress by Named. Also The Pippi Pinafore from Jennifer Lauren. Can't wait to see what you make.
Style arc Geri dress, closet core Fiona sun dress could also be a pinafore in denim, there is a pinafore dress in the TATB make it simple book. I think I will make Theas with mine now I've got them to fit!
the jennifer lauren handmade Dulcie Pinafore is A line but cinches at the waist a little. that would look nice and on the website someone has made it in denim
I've just made the merchant and mills Margo pinafore out of a leopard print denim, i also made a brown cord version last year, so your denim will totally work, good luck!
Love the denim. Try the Sewing Therapy tie dress. I made it knee length with needle cord and because of side ties it’s really flattering as a sort of pinafore dress 😊❤
I’m thinking that a pair of jeans is in order if that’s enough fabric?? I have a cone denim subscription box from Guthrie & Ghani and I’m afraid to cut into it until I know that the pattern will fit me. I could use this fabric as a tester fabric. Woo hoo! Looking forward to my box too. Hugs from Oregon! (Well at the moment I’m in Chicago, but I’ll be in Oregon tomorrow, LOL!)
Ooooo. Pinafores- Jennifer lauren Handmade have a couple, i made the Pippi. I ve also made an elbe textile steele which i love and a made my wardrobe olivia both of which are fab but your denim might be a bit heavy for ??
I think that is an 8oz denim at least. 🤨 The pattern Ive seen recently and considered, is by merchant and mills. I can’t remember its name but it’s the only pinafore they do. It’s definitely a looser style. 😊
I’m sew excited! The idea of making a pinafore dress is lovely, and would fit my lifestyle well, too. I got a notification that my box was delivered to my hurricane ravaged house yesterday, two hours from where I’m staying. I hope it’s still there when I’m able to drive back. Totally want to steal your idea, even though I could use a pair of jeans. 😘
Oh Lynn I’m glad you’re safe! I always enjoy reading your comments, you’re always so positive and encouraging to everyone and I genuinely like your attitude! ❤So I’ll send you love and my very best to you moving forward through this. Xox
I love this box. I really hated last months as I had the black background colourway and the cotton fabric felt horrible. Like cheap craft cotton. I will use it for bag lining. Ruan what about the Jennifer Lauren Handmade Ivy pinafore dress. Simple A line style 😊
I wasn't expected denim either. I am thinking Thea trousers however I have never made trousers ever before and I am an awkward shape! I like the idea of a denim dress too. How about McCalls M8345 as a pinafore dress?
Would you believe I finished a pinafore in dark blue jeans this week? The scoop pinafore from sew different. Not really what you described but it is not fitted. This fabric would be lovely for that one as well I think. Now I don't know what to make.
Yay! Okay, I actually feel cheated when I get my box before you. I’m weird that way 😂. It’s just your enjoyment just makes it that much more fun for me when I get mine😊. The packaging is so pretty 😍. Oh my! What a fabulous box. I have the beachcomber jacket pattern by the Friday Pattern Co. I didn’t buy any fabric to make it yet. I can line it with some pretty printed fabric too. I don’t know of any good pinafore pattern suggestions but I’m sure one of the beautiful ladies or gentlemen (don’t want to leave out guys, if there are any 😊) will have some suggestions. Thank you for sharing! Your friend Diane ❤
I was so excited by this box. I do not actually own any jeans and I had decided that I wanted to make some. I also wanted to make some straight leg trousers. I have made numerous wide leg and do not really like them. My bum is so big, that I look wide to the floor. Anyway I bought the closet core rika pants. So this will be ideal for those. Watch the ebook before you do anything because Andrea has put some tips about washing it in there. I also think there is a nice pinafore pattern idea too. I can't quite remember because I just went 'ooh rika pants' and shut my mind to anything else. Fabric is too heavy for idiots like me with broken ribs though.
@@theyorkshiresewgirl I sort of threw myself onto my back down the stairs and cracked a few ribs and snapped one in half totally. The cracked ribs are much better now, but the snapped one is still painful. I cannot sit /stand/walk for very long without it getting very sore. I have to wedge myself into the corner of my sofa against a cushion to get comfortable, so my sewing plans are just that-plans. I was also going to treat myself, for my birthday, with a trip to the knitting and stitching show, but had to pass. Of course, it hasn't stopped me buying fabric and patterns 😂😂😂. Apart from my 2 subscription boxes, I have bought 5 other fab ri. What's a girl to do when stuck on your own for weeks not being able to do much, but shop and watch you tube? I am doing little bits of sewing now though. I finished my Thea trousers and have the trudy turtleneck pattern printed and stuck together. Lots of kitty paw prints over it.
Me too… although. I’ve made it more A-line than cocoon shape as it suits me better (and is easier to walk in!) 5 of these and counting.😜 It’s a super quick make too.
Ryan I was looking for some stretch cheetah denim. I thought I saw you had got some. If so do you know where you got it? Thank you love watching your videos
This is the link honey but I’ve just. Checked and it looks like it’s out of stock 😣 www.fabricgodmother.co.uk/wyld-leopard-print-stretch-denim-chocolate/
I was raised that an itchy nose means you'll kiss a blue-eyed fool! Do you know any blue-eyed fools that you're willing to kiss? Love the denim and the idea of the pinafore!

It's a fab box and the actual box is back to being outstandingly beautiful. This is one I would have enjoyed receiving 🤩💜
Enjoy
Hahaha😂 turning up at High School blowing bubbles 😂
The denim looks so fab! I think a pinafore dress would be darling, but have no pattern suggestions for you. Happy sewing, Ruan.
I’m so jealous. I love this box. How cool it is to get a great denim and cool labels. ❤❤❤
Glad you’ve got your sewjo back
Love my box too ❤ I made a Jennifer Lauren Handmade Ivy pinafore in Denim about 3 - 4 yrs ago in denim and it’s a lovely make and is more A-line. Definitely worth a look
Masin patterns have just brought out a new pattern called the Sasha shift dress. Take a look Ruan. Xx

The denim looks gorgeous! My two favourite pinafore dresses are the Fibre Mood Dagny and the sleeveless version of the Nina Lee Carnaby Dress.
Second vote for the Ivy Pinafore - A line and a much more full A line version
Have a look at the Rodmell pinafore, Sussex Seamstress. I’ve made one in lime green canvas (cos I’m like that🤷🏾♀️) & now I’m halfway through a denim one.
Beautiful denim, so many possibilities- look forward to seeing what you decide.😊
I've been wanting a pinafore dress dress for years but haven't gotten around to making one. I'm looking forward to all the pattern suggestions.
As soon as I saw the fabric I thought it would look great as a pinafore dress.

Definitely kaya by fibre mood that's on my radar with this denim i think will be great, made a black corduroy and love it.
Have you seen the Steele Pinafore by Elbe textiles? Really comfy and is a-line x great to get a denim in a box - a very good basic!
Gotta say as soon as I saw the label I knew it was denim. The thread made it obvious 😂
Indigo?
Can’t wait to see the pinafore - I made dungarees merchant and mills
💖🦩💖🦩💖
Maybe the York pinafore by Helen's Closet would be suitable?
Just got to the part where you stand up to show the dress you’re wearing…. It’s a Nancy! I’ve made one a couple of years ago, such a cute dress!
Isn’t it a lovely dress! Will definitely make some more!
I made the merchant and mills Margo pinafore. A line and a traditional bib. Came up a bit big sadly but a great make. I have also done the Seamwork Dani pinafore, that turned out lush! ❤
I was just about to suggest these 2 patterns too! Just finishing my Margo (sized down 2 sizes!) and my Dani is an old make but a gorgeous style.
Lovely box as always with Andrea. Have you looked at the Amber Pinafore dress by Named. Also The Pippi Pinafore from Jennifer Lauren. Can't wait to see what you make.
❤
I just made the apron dress “pinafore” from assembly line is wool. It worked out great.
Love this one too… I made mine in Denim, and added extra buttons on the back so I could adjust to fit depending on my fluctuating waistline!
Pinafore is a great idea. The Seamwork Dani pinafore is lovely. I think Adele has also made it a couple of times.
I'm a similar shape to you .. I love the Jennifer Lauren Handmade Ivy pinafore. Made it in cord and denim .. both look good. xx
I came here to suggest the Ivy also!
I remember Bubbly!
Have a look at itch to stitch dress Comilla dress . I’m about to make it in a light weight Denim
Peppermint magazine have a pinafore pattern which has an A line skirt x
My mother always said “itchy nose” = expect company. I’ll be there as soon as I can.

Hello Ruan! Have a look at the Fibre Mood Kaya dress!
Beautiful color of denim.

Have a look at Jennifer Lauren Handmade, she has several pinafore patterns. The Georgie and Ivy are both lovely.
Bobbins and Buttons Jayne pinafore is a nice simple A line pinafore
Lovely denim. It will go perfectly with your FG fabric 😉 🌺🌸🌺

As soon as I saw the demin I thought a jumper, which for me in United States that's a pinafore dress.
