I've watched this vid ever since it came out and it still continues to amaze me every time I watch it. I'm a sophomore in high school at ld bell and it's my first year of marching so watching this makes me stoked to see what's next.
I only found out about DCI last year from my brother, but im just glad i found out. Since the first time i saw BD i was a huge fan of them. Im so glad you guys came to my town and i got to see BD in person. BD is amazing, and they always will be.❤❤❤
Enjoyed the unrehearsed commentary and expressions during the show..who knew this takes place during the show. Jojo WOW- and the all silver trumpets make a difference .like the bands in Japan the sound is brighter and more focused. Nice job BD. You deserved the win.
Ok I’m being really picky with this but at 13:30 when you play the upper extension of the chord didn’t it used to be a dub G? I rewatched the Allentown performance and a dub G was played there and it felt so much more grand in the context of the whole chord progression (The same chord was used after the opening hit of the 2015 program). If you could provide some insight on that it would be cool. Also, awesome head cam!
Thanks for the kind words! I know that our guitar player Mario would play a G during that chord. The written note had always been a high F but there was some discussion in the upper leads around Allentown about playing a dub G. It may have gotten played at Allentown but I guess by finals we were more comfortable with what was originally written.

@@switchingtracksThese are Bach Strad 43’s. BD doesn’t use the King Performance Series brass. the KTR411 and KTR412 are also lacquered trumpets so that would just be plain wrong. If anything they’d use the larger bored KTR412S.
So normally once you get into high school ( depending on schools im assuming ) you get an upgraded silver trumpet. The silver trumpets have better tone and they allow you to hit higher notes compared to a normal gold plated one. Trust me compared to last year ( my 8th grade year ) and now ( 9th grade year with an upgraded trumpet ) Its like a night and day difference.

@@pamaguin It's been said that is the case but there is no real proof to show that the color finish on brass has any real impact on sound. At most it affects the durability of the horn in regards to the lacquer coming off after a looong time.
lots of long tones, when practicing expanding your range, don’t just play as high as possible and keep attempting at it, play as high as you comfortably can and hold out those long tones, then try being consistent with hitting those notes without fracking, rings and repeat while attempting higher notes

It’s likely KTR411S, KTR411, KTR412S OR the KTR412 these are made by King Brass 😊 (I found this info on their website)
