He was already caught on video doing it. What’s the point of lying at that point? If he was caught on video going 140 mph and that same bike description was called in for a separate accident. You’re not going to be able to lie your way out of that.
He was screwed anyway, so it made no difference if he had admitted to him or not. You also have to understand that you have to stand in front of a judge. If the judge deems you irresponsible he’s going to hammer you to the fullest. Admitting to the mistake gives a better opportunity for a judge to approve a reduced punishment. I’m surprised nobody has the brains to realize this.

Troubling to see so many here saying that by lying and denying the charges he might have ‘gotten away’ with his crimes. People seem to fail to grasp that the rights they mention were actually never intended to help the guilty escape justice, but rather to protect the innocent from being unfairly convicted of crimes they did not, in fact, commit.
To say that he should have just ‘lawyered up’ and concocted a false story blaming someone else is missing the big picture about the safety and wellbeing of the community. Why not commend him for admitting his mistake, taking responsibility for his actions and showing remorse. If he went to trial with a flimsy BS excuse and was found guilty, a judge would be much more likely to give him the maximum penalty.

So the smart thing to do is keep your mouth shut, don't incriminate yourself, lawyer up, and stay legally protected.
