    Lee Labrada is my favorite bodybuilder next to the Priest. Both guys are so down to earth and are always so sincere. I prefer Labradas physique though. Perfect aesthetic look, with not too much size. Best poser of all time in my opinion. I just watch one of his posing routines and I get motivated. That doesn't for me while watching any other bodybuilder.

    Mr Labrada I have a quick question. I'm just under 300lb rn I've been losing weight. I have a good bit of muscle because I was a football player and lifted heavy in high school. I'm a freshman in college and I want to lose all the fat around my belly because that is the main area it's stored of course. I've been told if I want to lose weight I should cut off carbs. what would you recommend for me if I want to continue gaining muscle mass but lose my fat? thanks for your time!

    • @Labrada
      @Labrada  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Drew, this is not Lee just an employee of Labrada. We recommend a 40/40/20 diet for those looking to lose unwanted body fat while fueling the muscle. 40% protein, 40% carb, and 20% fat. No macro nutrient should ever be completely eliminated in our opinion. The key to changing our physique is understanding where we are getting our calories from and how much we are getting. We would like to recommend to take your goal weight, lets say that's 220lbs and multiply that by 12-14 calories per ideal body pound per day. Meaning to lose weight with whole food nutrition and exercising 4-5 times a week you could consume around 2,600 calories a day. Hope this helps, also be sure to check out our complete FREE LEAN BODY app it works on any smart phone. Here you will find an complete 12 week program with nutrition and exercise guide. Wish you all the best.

    Question-Can you still build muscle training the muscle once a week(going to failure with heavy weights) on low calories with a high protein intake??

    • @Labrada
      @Labrada  7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Morning Buford, gaining muscle while on a low calories diet even though consuming good amounts of high quality protein is extremely hard. If your goal is to build muscle a calorie surplus is highly recommended. Thanks for dropping by our TH-cam channel!

    Sorry to take issue: There's no such thing as an essential sugar only essential amino or fatty acids. If required, the liver can manufacture carbohydrate from fatty acids (or proteins but less efficient) by the process of gluconeogenesis with brain running mostly on ketone bodies if in fasting state or ketosis.

    • @ickdon7999
      @ickdon7999 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Carbs aren’t essential. Neither is air conditioning. See the point?

  • @thehealthychefri
    @thehealthychefri 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Carbohydrates are non-essential because it makes it's own glucose! That being said, complex carbs are necessary to put on more muscle and a strong cognitive threshold!

    Good overview but not really convinced that the body digs directly in your muscles when you are out of glucose. I think the body is intelligent enough to first get to the fat stores (9Ca) before eating up the muscles tissue. You need your muscle to get food and replenish fat and sugar stores.

    Since this video was made there has been a surge in use of the Keto diet which is managing your insulin levels by lowering your carbohydrates. When insulin levels are low that allows the fat cells to release the fat for use as a fuel. Most importantly, DO NOT EAT CARBS BEFORE BEDTIME. Carbs raise insulin levels WHICH INHIBIT HGH AND TESTOSTERONE PRODUCTION which happens during your deep sleep to repair your muscles. Snacks are usually a carbohydrate food so if you snack all day then you're keeping your insulin level moderate to high all day. THAT'S why you get fat. In the old days, we just had coffee. Now, there are tons of cappuccinos and lattes all loaded with sugar and folks consume a couple per day. Gee, I wonder why there's so much obesity when folks are consuming several THOUSAND extra calories PER DAY while on their sit in a chair job?
