I remember being so fascinated by this series as a kid😂 Whenever we went to Walmart or whatever I'd always rush back to the PC games section and look for Leisure Suit Larry...Like 20 years later and I've still yet to play a single one of the games lol.
You can pick up modern remakes of the old point and click games on modern consoles. Kinda like the remakes of the Monkey Island games. They're fun for nostalgic reasons, but if you've never played them, they probably seems outdated.
When I got a 386 as a kid, it came with a box of floppies of pirated games, including Larry 1. Never figured out what to do with it.
Is this part of a larger game series then? Like Sam and max etc

@@gracekim1998 Good. Mix that with a VERY immature sense of humour, and you're golden. And yes, it was a series of games back in the 90s. The "remakes" are called Leisure Suit Larry Wet Dreams Don't Dry, and Wet Dreams Don't Dry Twice. They are very silly and immature at first glance, but there is a satirical streak hidden underneath all the silliness.
So a lot of this humour totally falls flat but "can we exhume her body and scan it for digital recreation" unfortunately holds up too well now.

Of all the old Sierra properties they could have raised from the dead, Space Quest, King's Quest, Quest For Glory, Police Quest, This is the one they chose.
@@DamonHardin The new Kings Quest games were so good. Modern looking, but they retained the silly humor of the originals. It was a VERY well done way of making old games for a modern audience.

@@DamonHardin I enjoyed the new Larry games. Again they felt more like well made remakes rather than the 360 games that felt like a shitty version of Porkys and Animal House. The whole magic of Larry is this rather pathetic aging horny dude that just isn't in line with modern society. They nailed the underlying satire in Larrys character. A Hugh Hefner wannabee in a world that outgrew Hugh Hefner decades ago.
In addition to the other comments, Quest for Glory has a spiritual successor from its original team called Hero U: Rogue to Redemption. The original Space Quest team also Kickstarted a game (SpaceVenture) but over ten years later it remains unfinished. Backers recently received an early version but it's not at all ready for prime time.

Thing is as non PC and controversial as this series was, the original games were still actually good. Funny point and click adventure games with amusing ‘plots’, good puzzles, well done voice acting, and pixel/vector/drawn art that can be looked back on fondly. The first *6 games 1-3 & 5-7 are still enjoyable to this day as long as you understand and overlook the outdated values, sleazy main character and tacky world.
The game before this threw most of it away for cheap 3D visuals and poor minigames. At least it was still pretty funny. And the story was just about as good as the ones that came before it.
This one somehow becomes worse in every way. The 3D models are absolutely hideous. Minigames even worse, humour ran dry. And story worse still. Ironic the thing you read about the creators demanding they abandon nudity for better gameplay and story as they accomplish the exact opposite
Love how at the end they completely missed the fact that Larry was sitting inside the other guy in the golf cart 😂

Considering its personal history, that may actually be one of the most valuable copies of the game out there.
The games master and victim cards were flipped to which was which and I got thrown off for a second haha
the screen tearing and the stuttering are excruciating, i have a newfound respect for ben for sticking it out and getting the platinum on this
It took me a minute to recognize Jeffrey Tambor's voice, until I realized I knew him as Glossaryck from Star Vs the Forces of Evil. Shame he turned out to be a sex pest.
The screen tearing in this game might be the worst I have ever seen it's hurting my eyes lol.

Oh dear. I picked this up thinking "Oh? Leisure Suit Larry is back? These games were stupid fun on the Amiga." And no. Just no. Larry was originally a stupid point and click parody of the likes of Hugh Hefner. VERY immature and silly. This was just painful.
The game is terrible. I am a fan of the LSL series but Box Office Bust was exactly that a bust. It's a shame cause its predecessor LSL: Magna Cum Laude was such a fun game that is still playable today. This one just a straight piece of garbage.

I played this game recently funnily enough as it was in my started never finished pile of shame and had a harmless laugh with it. Combat is utterly terrible but the game is a laugh

Yeah. I have no/minimal problem with notorious stomach-turner VR, but the tearing is kind of making me sick.
Sad part is every version of the game had the screen tearing issue. I have played this on 360, PS3 and PC and they all had the screen tearing issue.
My dad has the original Leisure Suit Larry game on the Apple 2 computer. Why I never attempted to play it as a kid I don't know. It's not like anything was stopping me. To be fair I probably couldn't get very far due to the cryptic nature of that game and the worst thing I would see is a blow up doll. I do remember looking at the box and thinking that dirty magazines were magazines covered in dirt. King's Quest IV actually recommends playing that game if you type in vulgar language in the text box. Didn't expect a legit response.

The Billy and rules boss cutaways seem so pointless and forced as this episode clearly demonstrates. For some reason they HAVE to do them but they are the same joke every week: epsiode slows to a halt, gears grind in search of question, pointless question asked, bad answer given, answer criticized by the boys. Why always do the bit if you obviously hate the bit?

I think the modern LSL games have misunderstood what the original games were trying to do.
Larry wasn't a good guy, and they actively punished him for trying to sleep with all the women in them.
It was only at the very end of each entry with the last woman that he actually earned her respect that his efforts were paid off.
The 3D era of the games feel like they're just rolling with the "sex is funny" tropes for a lot of it.
As of october 2023, 8.2% of players who played the game have the platinum trophy. Damn.

As someone who likes this kind of humor, this game is basically as if written by a 12 year old versus the original games
I completed this one on Xbox 360 with every achievement. It was a chore to be sure!

I actually wanted this this game because I had never played one before. Magna Cum Laude was my 1st game and then the two Wet Dreams Don't Die games.
