So, given that all things want to reach equilibrium, you're showing that the internal cohesive forces (bonds) are broken when you over-bend or bend the opposite direction and then bend, thereby relieving the internal stresses so that the piece won't move as much as it dries.
This makes perfect sense. When bending wood for guitar sides, we always over-bend so that as the wood springs back, it can easily be locked in to the final shape.

Thanks! How can you dry a flat tile without warping? Between two wooden boards? What about the sides, since they'll dry faster?

Went through that part in clay buddies.
Having it between two absorbent surfaces like Sheetrock would pull the moisture out equally.

I’m just learning here. Would love to build a little house. So how do I keep the slabs from warping? I’m missing something. Looks like they all warped. Can I put something on top as it dries?

To reduce the issues don’t dry them like I did dry them evenly by keeping the covered up when your not working

The question I have, Is this Clay you have dug and processed to do the test on ? Or is it a new batch from a supplier ? It is always Good to do the test to find out what the limits are of the clay your using. Thank you for sharing. eddiespottery.

This is reclaim. I’ve done this style of test on about every clay I’ve had and get the same type results.

@@timseepots When you tested the reclaim was it with different mixed Lots or all the same lots of clay ? My only thought is after I have pugged it all, from the same lot from the supplier. You would think that the test would come out the same. Now when I mix Lots I always test because you never know what your going to get.
