      Hey Lisa. I thought about glazing them but I am going through my clay so fast, I thought it would be better to recycle for future videos as I would have just used clear glaze over the top which would look very similar to what they are now except shinier. But thank you so much for the feedback. It was a toss up for sure. Cheers.

    I like using a handheld immersion blender to mix slip w/water. Then sieve thru 80 mesh screen (or a Talisman sieve).

    • @annruel1982

      Hi Beth. I like to use the blender too when I am mixing a big batch of slip, but as I was only mixing a half a cup, I just did it by hand. Great tip though, thanks so much!!

      @@annruel1982 Thank you for the reply. I'll have to try see how it does at cone 5, I have not had much luck with these glazes at 5... I think they definitely need a cone 6 firing. Have a wonderful day, and thank you for video 🙏😊

      Hi JoAnn. Are you asking how to keep the glaze from covering over the markings? Just make sure that you use a transparent glaze that breaks well over the texture. I like to use Amaco Celedon glazes. Thanks for the kind words and watching the video!!

    Hello!! I love your pieces and videos!! I’ve never done slip decorating but have gotten some requests to do so from friends! Can you do slip decor on any clay body? Would the process be: add slip decor (or carvings!) to your green ware (pre bone dry), fire it at bisque fire, glaze the piece, and then fire it at glaze fire? Any can this be done at low medium and high fires? Thank you so much!!!

    • @LittleStreetPottery
      @LittleStreetPottery  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes - you can slip most bodies but best to test before. I do it at greenware stage then bisque then high fire. I can still tweak it at the bisque stage (Cone 04) if needed. Typically cone 5 for high fire. Good lucK!

  • @marmorceramics
    @marmorceramics 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hello ! Do you know how to avoid cracks in the texture added with slip ? I was wondering if I should deflocculate the slip, but I don't know to what proportions or if it's even a good idea.

    • @LittleStreetPottery
      @LittleStreetPottery  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So many variables...could be cracks from the variance in dryness (putting something wet on something too dry)...depends on what kind of clay you are using for slip too...the porcelain tends to be smooth and does not crack. You can try deflocculating but it may thin it out too much...

      @LittleStreetPottery  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You may have watered down the slip too much and/or just lay a thicker layer down. Let us know how its going!
