This might be the first time in history where 95% of Canadians agree that our Prime Minister needs to go. Not everyone seems to be on board with Pierre yet but it's still going well for Conservatives. We need this man, if he can achieve even half the things he claims he can, he should stay Prime Minister for forever in my opinion. I've always said Liberals are good at offering ideas but them running a country is like asking a toddler to cook you a steak.
Only other time I know of this kind of hatred is Robert Borden during WW 1, R B Bennet during the thirties, Pierre Elliott Trudeau but this guy is probably hated more than the previous three combined.

I hope you keep your word. I've worked in the oil and gas sector for 15 years and have broken the cycle of poverty my grandmother got us out of. I'm second generation to be out of poverty levels and I'm glad she seen we had to get out into the world and take the many opportunities off the reservation that the federal government control so much of how we live.
You are a living example to young native people everywhere. Being free rather than living off the government is the only route to a fulfilling life.

That is one issue I have with Poilievre that did not exist with O'Toole. The commercially viable part of CBC should be sold, and the $$ reinvested in the noncommercial viable part of CBC along with APTN aka real public broadcasting. The Google $$ should have had a carve out for APTN & other indigenous media - the only carveout Trudeau did was for legacy media.

There is always an issue when people receive government money, while lacking opportunity and questionable self-governance. Humans rarely generate self-drive unless pushed. I live in a small city that is nearly half first-nations, and a much larger reserve next to us. Businesses can't get enough labor, yet drugs and unemployment ravages our first nation locals. Managers complain that most people they hire lack any self-drive, and quit within days. This is everyone, of any skin colour, and is a generational issue, but first nations are nearly completely lacking on the local employment front even across decades. Why work when the government gives you money? I work my arse off because if I don't have a job, I lose my home, my vehicle, and become homeless. That's incentive.

Who is being fooled by Poilievre? He's putting industry development above environmental stewardship. This is the guy who was a cabinet minister in the last Conservative government which gutted federal environmental laws at the direct behest of the fossil fuel industry - and in doing so made the largest attack on native treaty rights in the Canadian history - sparking the Idle No More movement.
Just hours before the last Conservative government was forced to make an apology for residential schools - Poilievre was on an Ottawa radio station using tired old profiling & stereotypes - questioning whether Canada was getting value for all the money being spent to compensate former students of federally financed residential schools. He stated, “Are we really getting value for all of this money?” and “My view is that we need to engender the values of hard work and independence and self-reliance.” Harper made him apologize in the House of Commons the next day.
In the last Conservative government, in which Poilievre was minister of "Democratic Reform," he used classic Republican style voter suppression which resulted in 172,000 people not voting in the 2015 election. That alone should be disqualifying. First Nation representatives, as well as past & present chief electoral officers, students’ groups, seniors’ advocates, academics, and former auditor general Sheila Fraser - all warned Poilievre and his conservative colleagues that their voter suppression scheme would disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of Canadians. And that is exactly what occurred!
Poilievre is totally unfit to be PM. Conservatives are totally unfit to lead. They have no credible climate plan. Their plan is to get rid of carbon pricing - a proven market solution which lowers fossil fuel CO2 emissions causing climate change. The largest and longest ever study on carbon pricing proves that it works at lowering fossil fuel CO2 emissions growth rates. Alberta economist Trevor Tombe has shown that axing the tax would benefit the wealthy. People earning less than $250,000 get more back in carbon rebates than they pay in carbon tax. When will Conservatives ever acknowledge that climate change is increasing costs and causing hardship for Canadians?

He has committed to a bill that would literally do nothing but enable First Nations people to be more independent by doing things like invest in Canada through housing, tourism, natural resource extraction, and anything else the reserves can think of, which in turn enables them to start training on reserve for all kinds of trades that will be needed to maintain said projects and anything else they see fit, that doesn’t sound like someone who’s trying to use the First Nations people, it sounds like someone who sees the economic potential that is rising from First Nations people

to our indigenous brothers and sisters in canada. i hope we can oust justin. for many reasons common to all of us. it's ok to be liberal and vote liberal, when the party is on the right track. but i feel this party today is a let down on many many levels. i will vote conservative and i wholeheartedly hope all of us do to. best.
Basically, Money from the pipeline companies go directly to the Band Office, and NOT to Northern Affairs Canada! Who would spend the money on themselves. Christmas bonuses, the works while First Nations continue to starve! That's who was protesting the pipeline expansion, Northern Affairs Office staff protesting outside of their own offices in Victoria! Now they can't steal 75% of the income of First Nations People! If you don't like it, You can go home!
At a bare minimum, subtract 30% to simply administer the system. Then start subtracting the rest. Needs to change.
The money should go directly to the people. You're insane if you think the band office is any better than Northern Affairs.

@@Mathew-xr7kt Because that is the legal framework we have unfortunately. At the end of the day, deals need to be struck with indigenous because they have certain claims to certain areas of land. I don't think its right, but its in the constitution. However, that being said, Id rather the money go directly to the people rather than to chief and council to be spent at the casino, which is exactly what happens now.
And as for us, the money does go to us. We are shareholders of the oil companies either directly through our investments or indirectly through government pensions.
And on a final note, reserves are apocalyptic places. I'd rather be homeless off reserve than be on Trudeau hand outs on reserve.

There you go give the people and the community’s the ability to make money
1) Remove & replace RCMP with tribal cops in indigenous territories and communities.
2) Give land back to indigenous nations
3) Make Indigenous governments equal in all ways to the Canadian government.
4) Give indigenous nations a say regarding Canada and our foreign and domestic policies.
5) Provide us with jobs that don't force us to assimilate and work for non-indigenous companies that extract our resources but rather give indigenous nations the facilities and tools to create our own companies where our own nations have control and gain the wealth from those resources on our own lands. You want them, you should buy them from indigenous nations from indigenous people working for an indigenous company.
6) Give indigenous nations the right to form our own branch of the military. Our many nations shouldn't be forced to fight Canadas wars because we are separate nations with separate governments and we should have our own say in where we fight and don't fight. This would build better relations between our nations and help trust build once more.

The resources you believe belong to who? You? The government? Are a) limited and threatened b) mismanaged at best c) essentially stolen with some minor treaty exceptions. It's time to give back the integrity of land stewardship to the nation's that have a relationship to the land. I think much of what he says is true the existing system is not working for most people and there is too much bureaucracy smothering society we are all becoming like serfs on crown land now Indigenous or not. Housing isn't getting built because of red tape and apparently "safe supply" is too weak for most addicts they are just taking it and reselling it to buy harder drugs he said in another interview. How much does he want to invest in rehabs and prevention and border control though? Cities are hiring more cops to deal with crime but they need to hire more lawyers too to process people and he needs to be aware how some including indigenous are often abused by the justice system also. So there is a need for solutions but not all can be oversimplified either. Just look at the fairy Creek Protests and how abused they were by police and the legal system for example and though that was the largest act of civil disobedience in Canadian history it had barely any media attention compared to the freedom convey which was also unconstitutional with the "emergency act" and government overreach. It's difficult to expect police to solve problems when half the time they are the problem and are not held accountable themselves.
