These days, you can say just about ANYTHING is "hate speech" or "damaging".

    I lived between 2 reserves, spoke with many elders who were grateful for the opportunity of attending residential schools, saying they enjoyed it. I'm sure there were some bad ones, however, the Natives don't hold the monopoly on suffering. Residential schools have existed for centuries, throughout Europe, and long before the first Native stepped foot in one. My White, English step father had to attend one, where he was physically and sexually abused back in the day.
    I am sick and tired of the race card and victimhood being played. A little while ago I seen a poster calling for "Day scholars" to make their claim for monetary compensation. Day scholars, who attended "residential school" from 9 am to 3 pm, then went home to Mom and Dad.....Seriously?
    The nonsense proposed by this "MP" is creating animousity.
    Here's a question, is the title of "Indigenous" reserved only for people with brown skin? Since the Scottish people inhabited Scotland, crossing over from Europe at the same time as the Aboriginals did from Eurasia, wouldn't that make the Scots "Indigenous" too?
    If so, then they suffered conquest by the English for far longer than the aboriginals of Canada have. Many centuries in fact. So, where's the "Truth and reconciliation" for my ancestors, my cultural heritage?
    Do the aboriginal people of Canada care about the Scottish people and what they went through? Probably not.....so why should I care about their ancient past? Same/same, no?

    • @Nigel-w4t

    • @lancegraham4865
      @lancegraham4865 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@shhh3185 But we're not "Indigenous" . That's the point. To be indigenous something needs to originate in that place. The Aboriginal people of North America did not originate in North America, they migrated from Eurasia. The people of Scotland aren't Indigenous to Scotland because they Migrated from Europe at the same time. I know the definition has changed to suit the narrative, but in reality it's a lie. Here's a thought, the Aboringinal people of North America and those of Siberia all share a common ancestry....So instead of the Self segregation of reserves and archaic treaties, why don't we all accept that we're all migrants of some point of time, come together as one national family? Times are getting tough in this world, people are coming to OUR country, burn OUR flag, and threatening OUR people with death, so we if a time to come together ever existed, it's now my friend.

    I see the intent but no, this bill will never pass. Not in its current form. And I’m an intergenerational survivor. We can’t force folks out of racism, hatred, and ignorance. We just have to keep affirming the truth and heal without them, and survivors are free to seek their reparations. We already have a new holiday, one that upsets me every year for over a week… so much is being done now and healing is going to take more time.

      More than half the comments under this video are participating in stage 10 of genocide:
