- MIXNINE was a trainee survival show that aired on JTBC from October 2017 to January 2018. Headed by YG Entertainment the aim was to audition a host of trainees from various companies around Korea, and give them the opportunity to perform and stage and potentially debut in a new group under YG. Throughout the show, the male and female trainees battled to be the debuting group, with the girls narrowly missing out on debuting in the final episode. However, in one of the messiest survival show scandals of k-pop history, the winning boys' team's companies fell into contract disputes, leading to the boys never getting the chance to debut.
MIXNINE is largely regarded as one of the biggest failures of k-pop, however many of the contestants have gone on to have careers in the idol, k-music, and acting scene. In this video I'll take you through what all of the female trainees of MIXNINE are currently up to.
A couple of disclaimers:
- For a good portion of these girls, I couldn't find any information on what they're doing currently, some may still be training, some may have left the industry, but unfortunately a lot of the trainees' lives aren't as documented as the trainees from PD101 or PD48 for example
- I tried to make sure all my information is correct, but I do apologise for any mistakes that may be in the video. I'm fairly sure most of this info can be verified, but please make me aware of any errors!

@@hailsetrum the final line up didn't debut. However the final lineup was chosen among the final OT9 males vs final OT9 females doing a M vs F. The female team lost in the final, so the male team was the winner and should have debuted. It was overall a huge waste of time and energy for female contestants (I don't keep up with male trainees), as we can see here. Compared to other shows it didn't boost popularity even of the top20/15.
So at the end of the day, Dreamcatcher girls retiring without wasting time and energy was a good thing. They wouldn't have got much in return even if they could advance to the final rounds, as the other girls didn't.

The competition is so hard there, also now companies are looking for younger trainee too. Hopefully they are doing good wherever they are.
And don't forget... these are just the trainees that made it on to the show! There were plenty that didn't, and all of them were signed with agencies. Now think of all the people that want to be idols but haven't even been signed by an agency yet.

As problematic as M9 was, the performances and original songs were great. Better than most other survival shows.
Low-key agree. The remix of the covers was so good. The original songs was a banger too. Tbh the real problem was the contract YG promised towards other companies. If YG didn't try to change & extend the contract, it would be find. The boy group have huge potential

I've been looking for a video like this. Honestly these trainees deserved way better.
The biggest problem facing Mix9 besides poor promotion was the fact that The Unit was on at the same time and it seemed like Koreans were only willing to support one survival show (Unit had much higher ratings.) Sadly there was almost no anticipation to see the winners debut.

Yes the show didnt do well. But the perforpces and remixes were awesome and the trainees were treated way better that pd101

I like her since pd101 and hope she get her debut in fantagio. But she leave cause she not confident enough before weki meki debut. Then i know she tried again in m9, i really support her, so i am so happy when her rank consistent in high place, but in the end they lost for boy team.
I was happy when she join mystic ent and that agency have many popular trainees, i keep watch her practice with her labelmate. But once again she leave before billie debut.
She went through so much shit- kpop star 6, pd101, and mix9 and still did not make it. :( the sad world of trying to be a kpop idol

Also I’ve been in love with Eyedi’s & new and hub’s finale for the longest time as well as Yukika. I didn’t even know they were part of M9. Same with 2jin, Ryujin, the weeekly girls. So many favs and I didn’t know they were part of m9. I only knew Dreamcatcher was part of this.
the loona members hadn’t actually wanted to get into the group, as all three on the show had already had their solo debuts and were gearing up to have their ot12 debut, so i think bbc would’ve had her leave

#43 Yang Hyeseong changed her real name to Yang Yeonjae and stage name to Yeonje and #18 Choi Yoona also changed her stage name to from Bella to Do-A, and their group name changed from Elris to Alice

Kim Sooyeon active as a cameo in famous drama and a regular feature on KBS’s Gag Concert. She debuted in 2017 as INA with her debut song Rainbow. Currently she’s running her own TH-cam Channel Xooos and doing well on TH-cam.

I agree, I had been anticipating the mystic girls for years, and back then pretty much every girl was someone with a survival show or idol past. It was so exciting to see these very talented girls who missed their chance come together and debut, and I thought they were gonna rock the kpop world. I love Billie today, but it was heartbreaking to see almost half the original lineup leave one by one. 😢
@@gaylordbigboobs according to Miyu, her contract was not for girl group. It was always a plan for her to debut solo. But unfortunately due to S.Korea-Japan political issues at the time, her debut was postponed and she release 2 singles as part of Her CEO's monthly project instead. She probably left because the solo debut doesn't work out.

#68 Lee Yesol was part of Purple Kiss line up but then on the end of 2019 or early 2020 (if my memory isn't wrong) she left the company. She still maintains good relationship with Purple Kiss members though, and she hanged out with Dosie once around her debut era, meaning she fully supports the group quietly.

82. Baek Hyejin, 49. Kwak Heeo: Although 4TEN is inactive on most social media accounts, their instagram still posts new photos on Jeong Hyeji's birthday every year. They also did a Makestar funding project in March 2018 but with no new updates or refunding.
73. Choi Jiseon: A-Daily seemingly disbanded but she re-debuted in a duo on Sept 2021 called UNC with their first single named "Winsome".
70. Yoo Hajeong: Debuted as a soloist in June 2020 with the first single being called "We".
43. Yang Hyeseong, 18. Choi Yuna: ELRIS now goes under the name ALICE with a new company. Please support their new pre-release single under ALICE called "POWER OF LOVE".
39. Choi Hayoung left Polaris Entertainment.
38. Go Junghee, 26. Kim Minju, 21. Go Ara: FAVORITE hasn't been active on Instagram since January 2022 and haven't posted anything at all in 2022 on other social media accounts for FAVORITE. (Not assuming disbandment, just an observation).
36. Kim Yunji, 29. Kang Sihyun, 8. Jang Hyokyeong: Debuted in ARIAZ on October 2019 with "Moonlight Aria". The group seemingly disbanded on April 2022 when the company of the group announced that 4 of the 6 members of the group terminated their contracts.
25. Watanabe Rui: With no real announcement for H.U.B's disbanded but assumation due to inactivity, RUI now promotes herself as an Influencer/TH-camr.
12. Jung Hayoon: Currently under Watta TV's contract.
