Brought my 16 Roadglide special to Jay and he installed this setup in my lowers in addition to the ground zero yellow baskets in the fairing. Great job and sound. Clear and clean at 80 mph. Plenty of power.
Outstanding video! I'm an engineer and I've also done a bunch of car audio installs and done both Boom and Rokker installs on previous bikes. I've been wanting to upgrade my 2020 Road Glide Special and have been looking at better options. The HD Rockford Stage 2 has a built in DSP, but when I found out I had to give up saddlebag space, and cut a giant hole in my saddlebag for a ONE amp install, I eliminated it. RF doesn't have their newer non HD branded kit in stock, so I started looking elsewhere and came upon this video. Extremely clear instructions and I love how you pre-wire the amp with all the connectors. You're solving the exact problem I want to solve (can't hear the stereo when riding). I don't care about the non-riding sound as much, I don't compete. I called your shop and asked some questions, and the tech (female, I didn't get her name) was very helpful. She also told me that the programing tool is no longer single use, but IS locked to the bike. That's a lot better option because I might make changes in the future, so I'll likely keep it. I DID ask a question she couldn't answer, but I'll find out soon. I have a WHIM installed. I suspect that even after this flash, I will still have to have a bluetooth headset turned on to get Apple Car Play to work because the WHIM is now looking for the headset. I'll let you know. It would be nice if that weren't true, because I rarely need the comms when I ride.I just ordered this kit for my bike.

@@volunteeraudio I just did this... it works! Normally the WHIM requires a headset to be present and on. Now it works with or without a headset!

I really like how 32:16 the Hertz Stage 2 system sounds so much better than the Boom 4 speaker system, it’s almost night and day difference. Can’t wait to hear it when I add lower speakers to it !

Ok...I figured it out at 2am in the morning. The factory leads to the pods were actually pink. I accidently connected these to the wire harness that ran back to the Boom connector. So I then disconnected the two sides and ran both pink sets of speaker wire to the correct leads. Basically I was running the speaking pods to a circuit that was disconnected. Also I ran the ran incoming speaker leads to the incorrect terminals. Anyway. Were good now. It's sounds great! You are the MAN....ONLY THING THAT SUXS IS IM STARTING TO GET THE CHASING THE DRAGON FEEL WHERE ILL NEVER BE SATIFIED. ALREADY STARTING TO THINK ABOUT THE SOUNDSTEAM HEADunit and how much the EQ ON that unit will put me one step ahead of the pack...

Why would the Soundz flash not be sufficient?? To much bass ? It just flattens the EQ curve and allows additional amplifiers. Great info on the CarPlay
The soundz flash is the 8 speaker 2 amp boom flash, we prefer the level of attenuation of the gt or gts radio that we get from the 6 speaker 2 amp flash as most amplifiers handle the input level better and you do not clip the amp input
Great videos! Thank you Jay! Can you please help us on why you flash the radio before and not after the installation of aftermarket amps and speakers? Is this because there is no dsp to pair up? If that’s the case then what if the client wants a dsp installed or if the amp has a built in dsp?
We flash the radio to correct a bad factory eq curve, to turn on rear speaker output, to attenuate the radio signal to a useable input voltage and to keep the radios eq consistent when ignition is on and while engine is running, after flashing a dsp is not needed
Thank you for the great information. Would it be best to flash the radio before or after installing the 4 aftermarket speakers and 1 amp with gts radio on 2022 RG limited? I have the all components ready for the installation but I do not have the radio flashed yet. Could I install the system myself and then have the radio flashed at a later time?
The customer's bike is really nice. I really like the tail lights, turn signals, and bag covers. I'm wondering if the owner would mind us seeing a list of the items on the bike.

Really informative video here Jay, thanx! You mention that using your T-harness and the 6 speaker 2 amp flash, the amp will see an acceptable input of around 5 volts. You also mention that some installers "just use the speaker wires and a line output converter" and get less than 1volt input to the amp. Wouldn't tapping the speaker wires WITHOUT the LOC get you the same 5v input for the amp? So my question is... While your T-harness makes it very convenient and simple, can't you also just tap the speaker wires and get the same output/sound?
We are using high level/speaker level signal, out t harness receives all 8 speaker wires into the amp and connects all 8 output wires to stock speaker wiring with one easy connection, you could tap all of these wires but would need to know color codes and polarity. Our connection is much more secure than “tapping” wires
I was thinking of getting your Stinger Wiring Kit as a low cost solution for my 2 speaker amp install to avoid tapping wires. Any downside to this compared to the t-harness? If so, do you offer the harness as a separate item?
@@TonyDL yes, you have to make all the connections and we can not preset an amplifier that we have not wired before shipping, our plug n play cost is full wiring and expertly set using oscilloscopes

Yes it will, it will do 2ohm stereo so we use it in this exact scenario quite often

Is there a reason you recommend the boom flash? It goes against what every top installer in the country recommends.
They are all factory boom flashes, there are no soundz flash, Rockford flash, kicker flash ect…. They rename factory flashes

Heh brotha...I ordered a hertz amplifiar and ppi speaker kit. I connected everything like you did. I have a 2017 street glide with the boom audio. When I turned on the system, the Amp and everything works, BUT THERES NO SOUND..ALSO, I NOTICED that my kit didn't come with a long black wire or the tfitting you used to splice into the cigarette lighter wires. The previous boom Amp has a bundle of wires and a connector that now have nothing to connect too. I traced the speaker wires from the pod to this connector which is hanging free and has nothing to connect too on the hertz amp...WHAT do you think the ISSUE is?

I would suggest 6.5” and the hertz amplifier

So, I just installed this package on my 2020 Road Glide Special which had no amp and Boom speakers (I think stage 1 speakers). The good news. I already have a WHIM, but still used the programmer to "turn on WHIM". Now my Apple Car Play works without a headset turned on!! Awesome! So you can answer that question to anyone who asks. My comms still works too. Now the bad new... there's very little bass response. It's loud, but there are no lows.... and I totally get that bass sucks power, and that cutting the bass allows a lot higher SPL, and bass likely can't be heard much at 70mph, but it sounds like it's cut off at 300Hz like a telephone!! Where do you set the high pass filter, even at 115Hz, I think I should be getting more bass. Suggestions?
Hpf is set @ 85hz, what are you listening to? Are you sure your polarity is correct, if one is reversed from the other you have no mid bass, for sure these speakers won’t play very low by design and 6x9’s play much lower (65hz)

@@volunteeraudio The polarity is fine (black to neg on both sides)... I flipped thru a few other sources... The best way I can describe these is they seem like midranges and tweeters with NO woofer at all... there's no "guts" to it. It sounds very detailed and crisp... I like bright speakers (my home speakers are all Klipsch), but I wish these had more low end. I don't know what freq the HD bass slider is adjusting, but it doesn't change much on these. I'll have to give it a road test to see how I like them on the road... maybe this weekend. I don't want to do speaker lids because they take up too much saddlebag room (I swapped out my Boom lids back to non-speakers on my previous bike). I ride cross country a fair amount.

Is there a flash you can do for a 2013 Harley stock radio? What do you recommend to improve 2013 sound?
If you are using the stock radio a flash will help the EQ, we normally replace the radio with the AQUATIC AV radio
600 watt amp… ok if you’ve got saddlebag lid speakers , four speaker set up , what is ur db increase? Another 14? and what is the db increase with a six speaker set up?
With all six channels used is there another 28 to 30 db?
Doubling power or number of speakers usually increases 3db, you get a much larger increase going from stock to more efficient louder aftermarket speakers but once you get so loud it takes a lot to gain more db, you will think it sounds much louder, I say close to twice as loud for every 3db at that point
What if you already have a boom audio 2 with 2 amps and front and rear speakers, on a 2016 ,would it still need flashed?
Yes it would still need flashed
If it’s not a cvo you need to remove the boom harness as well, we have videos on the process

It is much clearer while being loud, clarity being key, the hertz speakers are 4-5db louder

We offer 3 seperate amps, the sx690neo are 130 max rms and still sound great on the Hmp4d, with the hmp4d the system is very reliable and louder than the wind or engine at 100mph, the precision power amp is 100 watt rms and the bigger hertz amp is 160watt rms
With this kit, is it possible to add the sound stream reserve HDU14 and it still be pug and play?

We recommend replacing the stereo on the 2009 but if adding an amp to the stock radio you do not have to flash it
@@volunteeraudio replacing Stock with a Sony Marine Head unit with 2 better speakers and maybe a small 200 watt amp might put saddle bag cut in 6 by 9 in at later time would 200 amp work for this 4 speakers set up

If you flash the GTS radio with 6 speakers - 2 amps as suggested, what voltage range can we expect going to the amp? My amp only allows for RCA low level inputs of 0.5 - 6v. Is there another flash recommended for low level inputs? Thank you!
This flash will be around 5-6volts, also your amp can not use common ground rcas or you will short the radio wiring

I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW MANY FREAKING BOLTS HARLEYS USE TO INSTALL THE SPEAKER PODS. THESE GUYS HAVE GOOD INTENTIONS BUT JESUS CHRIST! IS IT REALLY NECESSARY TO HAVE 2 DIFFERENT BOLT TYPES AROUND THE POD, THEN HAVE 3 11MM BOLTS on the side!!! My god it's overkill....
