Yes, having Ann do Stairway was no accident. Heart covered allot of Zeppelin songs in concert, and very well too…to the delight of their audiences. And it was with Jimmy Page’s blessing, because they did Zeppelin’s songs justice.

This is a great rock band that started in the 70's. Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. They have had so many great hits such as "Crazy on You", "Magic Man", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc.

This was the year I was born.😅
These ladies couldn't be any more icomic! They are both simply amazing!
This was a time where many thought women couldn't do hard rock.
The lyrics were inspired by a record producer insinuating that even though they were sisters they were also lovers.
They did a a song in I think 1990 called All I Want To Do Is Make Love that stirred a bit of controversy even between the sisters.
    More Heart, please!

This song was written in response to their record label starting a rumor that the sisters were having an affair with each other, in an effort to boost interest in the group. They were very mad as you can tell from this song.

You missed the most important part of the song... Barracuda was written when they were sexually harassed by a record exec. This was their big F you to all of them. Ann and Nancy are two of the greatest female artists of our time. They were there before most and paved the way. Great song. Alone, These Dreams, Magic Man (did not know this was a sexual song until a couple of years ago... I can't believe I didn't go there), and Crazy on You. Not sure which other one you did. The Zep cover was amazing. I've watched that multiple times.

Heart has the whole range -- great ballads ("If You Love Me Like Music", "Soul of the Sea"), power ballads ("Alone", many others), guitar-heavy rock ("Barracuda", "White Lightning and Wine"), near-prog rock ("Magic Man", "Crazy On You")... all featuring the matchless vocals of Ann Wilson. (BTW, sound quality on this recording was awful -- not all of that distortion was Roger the guitarist's doing...)

Heart's "Dreamboat Annie" was one of the first new albums and bands I heard at college. "Crazy on You" and "Magic Man" are my favourites. "Sing Child" (bluesy) and "White Lightening and Wine" are pretty good. "Barracuda" is the stand-out from "Little Queen", the other Heart album I heard most days. ① In interview, the sisters said Heart covered a lot of Led Zeppelin in their live shows. IIRC while on tour, as support, Jimmy Page turned up. He was so impressed he gave 'official permission' to Heart to cover Led Zep'.
The albums are broadly "folk rock", and "ballad-ey", other than my favourite, more rocky, "bangers".
    Best Wishes, Chaps. ☮
I didn't know the full story at the time, but it was clear enough they were not happy with the "Barracuda" ("You gonna burn, burn, burn, burn, burn to the wick. Oooo, Barracuda"),
@Firefighter Chick explains the fundamental story. There's more of the story on Wikipedia "Magazine (Heart album)". The record company 'exec' who invented the story is "Barracuda". They left that record label, "Mushroom" because of that story. They had extensive legal battles to escape, which hardly seems fair.
① Our "Halls of residence" at college were arranged as many self-contained blocks of 6 rooms. In the first week, 'Jaz' kept his room door open, with a record player blasting "Dreamboat Annie" out most evenings. No one complained. Weeks later he bought "Little Queen". 😆

There is another story behind this song. A barracuda is a big, ugly, aggressive, predatory fish. The record company they first signed with decided that if they spread disgusting rumors about Ann and Nancy having a sexual relationship, they would sell more albums. When the sisters found out, Ann wrote this song about the scum that owned the record company, and ended the contract. That record company went straight out of business.

Heart's best music is it's harder stuff. The pop stuff like "These Dreams" isn't a good representation of the band; it was a big hit but it's not the normal style of the band nor is it even the normal lead singer since Nancy (the blond haired sister) sings it. Nancy has a nice voice but it's not even in the same stratosphere as Ann's vocals.
