The end credits. I got up, left, and got on with life. How many times can you really recycle imagination? Bruce Boxleitner has the right idea. As far as the "toys" angle goes, that's what really drove a stake thru the light cycles. The movies are a loss leader for merchandising. The entire idea has been turned on its head. The bean counters will only "risk" a film if it will pay for itself many times over beyond box office tallies.

True. They cancelled Star Wars: Clone Wars, right after they bought the Star Wars franchise. It still had one more season to go (with several episodes already in the works).
Maybe someday, the fans will "fix" the unfinished animated scenes, the way that Doctor Who fans "restored" some of the old Doctor Who episodes, which only had the audio tracts and some photos left.

No, it was buried to cause the crash. Disney didn't want the older fan base the show was gaining, only kids whom they could sell toys to. They were afraid of a "brony" situation like what was occuring with "My Little Pony" at that time.
Well, if you remember, at My Litlle Pony's height back around the time Uprising was out, there were a lot of middle aged men into MLP and society on the whole had begun to realize this and society's general consensus was that it was weird and unsettling. Disney didn't want that kind of press about one of it's shows (remember, this is still before Disney had bought Star Wars, and not long after they had accquired Marvel and we're still of the mentality, "We make things for kids," as opposed to now where they make things for kids but they understand adults will watch and enjoy it too so it is not geared only for kids). There were more young adults watching Uprising than pre-teens who Disney was aiming the show at-and since in their eyes the point was to sell toys and young adults don't buy kids toys the way pre-teens and their parents would. All these things are why they set Uprising up to fail. There is a reason why it is near impossible to find anywhere online to watch or even purchase. If my information is correct, there is also one more episode that was supposed to be the real season finale that was never released-you can see one or two brief scenes of it in some of the music videos for the show's soundtrack.

Kazoonationify yeah my parents went to see the original and left me and my brother's at my grandparents house. my older brother was upset! Then a year or two later it came on the Disney channel!! we watched it every time it came on!! Keep in mind this was before VCRs were affordable (avg $750)

I also enjoyed "TRON Legacy." While, like with the original "TRON," the story was a little thin I thought that it was a good movie. However, I think there is one place where the TRON Franchise could continue: As a comic book. There's enough story potential for a least one monthly comic and I'm sure there are some great creative teams that could write some great stories.
I really like Tron: Legacy as well. Honestly, I don't understand why it didn't do well at the box office. Perhaps it was just the wrong time of year or something because it was not a bad movie.

Tomorrowland was uninspired, mostly boring, and missed the mark for whatever it was going for. Legacy was ok, but had some issues. All that being said, I'd pay $1,000 for a sequel and a new Daft Punk soundtrack to go with it (heavy emphasis on the Daft Punk soundtrack).
To be fair, I enjoyed the first part of Tomorrowland that introduced George Clooney's character as a child. But once he grew up and the story focused on the girl, it turned very lame indeed. But the music, done by Michael Giacchino himself, was a work of wonders!
lol tron was a hit but disney didn't know how to capitalize it, GTA has a game mode for tron and was a hit and I'm pretty sure if they had a great story for the animated series and kept going it would have been a hit because i remembered watching it but lost interest because i didn't know when a new episode would air

Some pretty top notch TV shows get canceled simply because not enough people watch the show during its airing....despite the fact that most people tape TV shows on their cable box to watch later, or even watch online. Networks don't count those numbers. They limit themselves to who watches during the original airing of the show, and they judge the show's performance on those numbers alone. RIP Almost Human, The Cape, Forever, and other great shows who didn't make it past 1 season!

This series had such potential... especially in the modern age! The movie was soo innovative in the 80s, and although the second one was a bit weaker, I still liked the concepts. They could make this into an incredible franchise!!! If only it could be recognized like Star Wars.... TRON has hope. Star Wars is dead until someone else besides Kathleen steps in.
you know Disney would never let anything go if they think one day they'll get a lot of money out of it. they would rather let an original movie shrivel up and die rather than risk giving it to another company. After-all why should they risk letting another company out-due them when they can release live action remakes that the masses just gobble up for some reason (even though the animated versions are better) and not have to worry about competition?

Tron Uprising was actually one of the best shows Disney XD has put out in years, dark, funny, not too childish yet not too mature, it had a perfect balance; heck, it even won awards and Disney pulled the plug on it! It's like The Clone Wars, an impressive show, with everything on it's side, yet it gets cancelled and replaced with garbage (Rebels is good, not as good though)
Clone Wars didn't quite get plug pulled on it tho, I mean sort of because of the Disney Star Wars buy out, but it at least wrapped up its story unlike Tron Uprising. I would say Uprising was a lil like Disney's Legend of Korra, a great mature animation that kept getting fucked over by its own network

Mark Isaacs Every unit or program who disagreed with Clu got deprogrammed or derezzed. Maybe not bloody but it's the worst that could happen. The show was meant to give people the illusion they were safe from harm. So that they wouldn't revolt. Clu is just as bad or conniving as Dart Sidius. Both Star Wars and Tron are about totalitarian regimes. Although the world in Tron is closer to our world. And therefore more real and darker.
I, too, think that Star Wars was the biggest reason the third Tron movie was canceled. Tron has been referred to by many as Disney's answer to Star Wars. Now that they have ACTUAL Star Wars, they don't need a wannabe franchise. And between The Force Awakens and Rogue One, they have proven that Star Wars is in good hands. Sure, some hated TFA for one reason or another, and the same goes for RO, but both of Disney's current Star Wars offerings have enjoyed significant global box office success, and that is what the executives care about. I really wish they would have done TR3N, but if they can give Star Wars that much more of their budget, I am willing to accept that they didn't. One thing Disney knows how to do well is leverage their successful IPs. And with a Star Wars movie coming out once a year for at least the next four years, especially maintaining the energy and momentum of the two they've delivered so far, I think I'll be well entertained. Rogue One and the forthcoming Han Solo anthology films explore events between Episodes 3 and 4 of the main saga. And we have to remember that there is a 30 year gap between Episodes 6 and 7 in which even more anthology films could explore events in the vastness of the Star Wars universe. Regarding the future of Tron... I would like to se them introduce the world of Tron in the form of a Free To Play massively multiplayer environment, in which we can be both spectators of and/or participants in a yearly story arc. I would so play that.
Yeah, lets face it, right now Disney is busy pumping out a HUGE string of movies. In just the next 12 months: 4 (5?) Marvel films, Star Wars, Pirates, 2 (3?) Pixar films (Cars 3 and Coco, Wreck it Ralph 2?); and not long after: Live action Mulan, The Incredibles 2, another Star Wars, 2 MORE Marvel films. And Im sure Im missing some. They are busy as hell. Dude, I loved Tron Legacy. Im cool with letting another 20+ years go by for a 3rd movie as long as the same amount of love goes into it that Legacy got. Well, that and another DP soundtrack.

It wouldve been great, Kevin wouldve given Quorra Admin access, turning her into "god" so he wouldnt have had to stay. Then Kevin and Sam couldve gone home together and felt safe leaving The Grid in Quorra's hands, just like when Kevin left it in Tron's hand in the original movie.

I'm pretty sure that was Disney's intention, and they certainly did try to make it happen. There was a brief period where Tron was EVERYWHERE, and Disney didn't want you to forget it. Remember those Marvel Comics variant covers with characters redesigned to look like they were in Tron? Those covers had nothing to do with the content of the issues; they existed solely to promote Tron as your new favorite thing. Too bad for them, people lost interest quickly. The whole scenario just goes to prove the old adage, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Disney bombarded us with Tron, but Tron isn't what we wanted.
It should come as no surprise, seeing how Disney has behaved just like the villains in all their stories. They are the very ones who ruin our great childhood memories. Too many people supported Disney, only to be taken for granted.

Despite the movie franchise popularity, it eventually shut down due to a lack of paying subscribers.
Tron Evolution failed because of its design flaws.. way too much trial and error/cheap deaths to be enjoyable and the combat really could have used some work. I still beat the bloody thing but it was far from a good game.

He would never do that though. Kevin would never leave Quorra on the grid, he could never leave her behind because she is the last ISO, and therefore more important than an ordinary program.
That's a shame. I really wanted to see another. Olivia Wilde's character was so interesting. I would have loved to see a movie about her life after The Grid.

He doesn't rewrite her code. He even says it's too complex for him but he manages to decrypt it ONLY to fix her arm. He couldn't turn her into anything else because he also says the ISO's are more advanced than programs, including Tron or CLU. The point of the movie wasn't to be an easy victory. It is super influenced by the bible and other dichotomic religious icons. That's why CLU's personality is based on the mythology of Lucifer. He looks just like Flynn (God) but is only a copy with limited rationality. That's why his light isn't white but the second brightest color: Yellow.That color is also the color of the sun, which is the Morning Star (Lucifer). Sam is the son of God and even his coming is announced by the opening of the "gate" which is a bright star in the sky just like when Jesus is born. Tron represents the angel corrupted by CLU, turning him into a red program. The ISO's represent the part of humanity who is able to find divinity through mortality, the enlightened ones. While the rest of the programs are just the regular humans doing what society tells them to (programs), serving whomever is in charge without being able to look beyond the world they're in.

A better ending would've been to let the recently woken Tron prevent Flynn from reintegrating with CLU, making him the hero at the very end allowing both Flynns and Korra to exit, thus serving its purpose as the program made to protect the users. You're right in pointing out how the movie is named TRON and he doesn't even show his face once besides from the flashbacks. I think Disney just didn't want to put an effort into it because of their current business motto of rebooting only what is already known and liked without taking any risks...besides from Ant-Man which I ended up liking very much even when it seemed like it was going to suck.

I thought Tron Legacy was going to be amazing so I rented the original from Blockbuster. That way I could have the backstory. I wasn't disappointed. Then when I saw Tron Legacy in the movies. I was blown away at the story and the visuals. It reminded me of how I felt when the 1st Matrix came out, you just knew you were experiencing something that was never seen before. I think they're underestimating how much Tron had left in the tank.
As one of the few people who played the transfer game, he was downplaying when he said it was sad that it never launched. That game brought so much nostalgia and happiness to me. It actively changed my view on the grid.
It really makes me sad that Disney would much rather go with properties that we have seen a billion times (and are probably getting sick of.) instead of taking a chance and improving a franchise. Thankfully they are building a tron ride so that's something. ❤️

It's not Disney's fault that Tron and tomorrow land failed. let me put it like this, why take a risk and make something new if no-one is going to see it. I have loved every original live action film they have made (except pirates 4) so it makes me sad that Disney is to scared to do anything about it.

I want to create a 3rd person open world tron game set after Tron Legacy and Evolution. You'll be able to customize your program with different helmets, cloaks, suits, the light patterns on the suit, your program's face, and much more. You'll be able to aim and throw your disc, the longer you aim the stronger, faster and more tracking the disc will have. You'll be able to dodge by flipping around, block, and parry, as well as be able to use different weapons such as lighter or heavy disc, light staffs, light swords, and end game weapons like being able to use 2 disc. Multiplayer will have disc wars which will have light cycles, light jets, light tanks, and light runners all with different variations for balance. There will also be duel tournament mode similar to the movie Tron Legacy. I have much more in a game document. I am a huge Tron fan and would like them to bring it back as well as expand the lore more and add more stuff.
The whole reason why ratings didn't do so well toward the end of the first season of Tron Uprising is that Disney kept shoving the show around on the schedule. There were MANY times I turned on my TV, ready to watch the newest episode. To my annoyance, the show wasn't on when it was supposed to be scheduled. The last few episodes were aired, but at MIDNIGHT of all times. The show may have not appealed to kids, but was loved by fans of the franchise. I really wanted the show to continue because it had great story telling and animation, but Disney gave up on what was an award winning show. That should have told them to continue the show for the fans, but nope... Disney pulled the plug and didn't even mention cancelling the show. They probably assumed no one would notice that little detail.
fun fact: some of the writters of the Show, were also the same writters of the movie, so you see that if Disney had been more flexible and made the writters do what they wanted to do with the movie we could had the same level or storytelling and plot detail than Uprising, but Disney is more interested in another Hermionie and the Beast or ANOTHER Alice in Wonderland than trying to be creative, or you know pissing on Star Wars fans making god awful decitions with the franchise.
The real problem is that the ORIGINAL teaser had a better vision and alluded to a better story that what we got. In the end we got visual and music, but the story poorly paced and didn't make enough sense.
Hanniffy Dinn I like show, but I wasn't a fan of the animation style. It was hard to get around the strong dark shadows on every character, it seemed off. If the animations was different, then i would have watched it more

It was really great, possibly my favorite entry to the Tron franchise, but it kept changing schedules on the fly and got the worst TV times possible for a Disney Channel show. It was also criminally undermarketed. Tron Uprising is like Disney XD's Legend Of Korra: Great animation, great, mature story, fucked over by the network. Also, you don't even (reportedly) have the chance to buy _any_ Tron merch whatsoever in Disney Lands/Worlds. I remember going to disneyland and california adventures a year after the movie came out and tron merchandise was very rare, i stopped at every shop i saw and only things i found was a tron legacy shirt made by hurley, a 80s tron mickey pin, and a drawing of 80s tron mickey which i bought all three. I also miss elecTRONica at california adventures, such a cool spot, i know last time i went after they replaced it with madhatters tea party place i had my tron shirt on and one of the workers seen my shirt and said she misses elecTRONica and was sad that it got replaced.......

From what I heard, Disney created an all-new Pay Per View channel and forced fans to pay extra just to watch episodes. It's that reason which caused ratings to drop, because the fans simply couldn't afford the extra expense.
EXACTLY! THEY LITERALLY STARTED WITH A TIME SLOT OF 8 PM THEN CHANGED IT TO 9 PM AND THEN OUTRAGEOUSLY TO 12 AM. OF COURSE A SHOW IS GOING TO BOMB BECAUSE OF THAT! It literally looks like Disney made the show do bad on purpose because they werent interested at all and just wanted to get it over with.
"Tomorrowland" bombed because it had an uneven plot, a queasy love story between an older man and a robot that was essentially a 12-year-old girl, and couldn't quite decide if it was a grownup movie or a tween movie. You also had to wait for the last few minutes to get out of "downer" mode. (And did I mention the creepy love story essentially between a guy in his 40s and a 12-year-old girl?) "Tron: Legacy" didn't bomb, it just didn't do the kind of box office the Maus Haus wanted... partly because a LOT of the marketing was along the lines of, "You waited 30 years so here's your sequel, guys!" as opposed to, "NEW MOVIE! NEW MOVIE!" There was also the problem that Tron was such a minor character that he could've been eliminated completely without major impact on the script... and if I remember, he's only "redeemed" (red back to blue) as he's apparently falling to his death. C'mon, Disney -- a little common sense and some good scriptwriting would go a long, long way....

And one should point out that George Clooney was actually in his fifties, mid-fifties, not his forties. So we're talking about a love store between a guy in his fifties, albeit George Clooney, and a robot that looks like a 12-year-old girl. I have to admit, it was a little strange/creepy.

It's a damn shame.. The last Tron movie was really good.. I liked it more than the original. I LOVE both movies but the sequel was more enjoyable and is something I could probably watch numerous times over and over..Must be those god tier Daft Punk tracks.
They forgot the most important reason. Disney has merchandised the hell out of their princess line to girls and have been trying to do the same for boys. That all changed with the purchase of Marvel and Star Wars, they no longer needed anything else. I wish they would continue Tron but I'm not holding my breath.

In June 2020, Walt Disney Studios President of Music & Soundtracks Mitchell Leib confirmed in an interview that a third Tron film was being actively worked on at Disney. He said that Disney has a script written and was looking for a director, though was hopeful that Kosinski would return, as well as saying that it was a high priority for them that Daft Punk return to do the score. In July 2020, The Disinsider reported that the third film is still in development as a sequel at least of sorts with Leto and is currently looking for a director and could see the cast of Legacy returning. In August 2020, Deadline reported that Garth Davis had officially been tapped to direct the film from a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow.
There will be a new "Tron" coming out on October 10th of next year. It will be called "Tron: Ares" & it will feature a new cast, new characters & a brand new storyline, however Jeff Bridges will return as Kvien/Clu. Nine Inch Nails has been brought on to do the soundtrack. The new movie will be completely different from the first two "Trons" as it will center on a computer program called Ares who comes to our world from the Grid intent on taking it over just like Clu wanted to do in "Legacy." There was a huge presentation on it at Comic Con a few days ago & the trailer from what I've read, heard & seen, the trailer was received quite enthusiastically & was spectacular. Looking forward to it. I hope you are too.
I kind of think they decided to invest in star wars rather than tron. In hindsight, it looks like that was the wrong move, but it did save Tron's reputation from current social issue's. I spose I'm thankful of at least what was, than what potentially will be, though I am hopeful.
I loved the Cyberpunk-Themed Tron Legacy movie, hell, it even showed me something which I am going to Programm in my own game: A cyberpunk themed big city with decent neon spots all over the place and futuristic transport options and glowy mystic-cult robes all around the streets. Damn Disney for their nonsense.
And if you make something most people aren't interested in and won't spend money on, what's the point of continuing? It takes a lot of different ideas for one to really stick. Tron just wasn't one of them.
Look, I know most of you are underage. That's just TH-cam comments. Y'all don't understand how business works, especially all the hard work, time, and money that goes into movies. This is a lot of people's jobs, and if they don't make a profit, they would've wasted 4 years, hard work, and possibly cause their company's stocks to plummet. Yeah, this is Disney. A company with a seemingly endless amount of cash, but they didn't get that cash by being reckless.

The end credits. I got up, left, and got on with life. How many times can you really recycle imagination? Bruce Boxleitner has the right idea.
As far as the "toys" angle goes, that's what really drove a stake thru the light cycles. The movies are a loss leader for merchandising. The entire idea has been turned on its head. The bean counters will only "risk" a film if it will pay for itself many times over beyond box office tallies.

They cancelled Star Wars: Clone Wars, right after they bought the Star Wars franchise.
It still had one more season to go (with several episodes already in the works).
Maybe someday, the fans will "fix" the unfinished animated scenes, the way that Doctor Who fans "restored" some of the old Doctor Who episodes, which only had the audio tracts and some photos left.
TRON: Uprising didn't "crash". Disney buried it in a midnight Sunday slot on XD. The fans loved it and they killed it.

No, it was buried to cause the crash. Disney didn't want the older fan base the show was gaining, only kids whom they could sell toys to. They were afraid of a "brony" situation like what was occuring with "My Little Pony" at that time.

Well, if you remember, at My Litlle Pony's height back around the time Uprising was out, there were a lot of middle aged men into MLP and society on the whole had begun to realize this and society's general consensus was that it was weird and unsettling. Disney didn't want that kind of press about one of it's shows (remember, this is still before Disney had bought Star Wars, and not long after they had accquired Marvel and we're still of the mentality, "We make things for kids," as opposed to now where they make things for kids but they understand adults will watch and enjoy it too so it is not geared only for kids).
There were more young adults watching Uprising than pre-teens who Disney was aiming the show at-and since in their eyes the point was to sell toys and young adults don't buy kids toys the way pre-teens and their parents would.
All these things are why they set Uprising up to fail. There is a reason why it is near impossible to find anywhere online to watch or even purchase.
If my information is correct, there is also one more episode that was supposed to be the real season finale that was never released-you can see one or two brief scenes of it in some of the music videos for the show's soundtrack.

I also enjoyed "TRON Legacy." While, like with the original "TRON," the story was a little thin I thought that it was a good movie. However, I think there is one place where the TRON Franchise could continue: As a comic book. There's enough story potential for a least one monthly comic and I'm sure there are some great creative teams that could write some great stories.

i thought it was a fantastic sequel. its no terminator 2, but it had a pretty solid story, believable plot elements, and came to a logical conclusion

Legacy was ok, but had some issues. All that being said, I'd pay $1,000 for a sequel and a new Daft Punk soundtrack to go with it (heavy emphasis on the Daft Punk soundtrack).
To be fair, I enjoyed the first part of Tomorrowland that introduced George Clooney's character as a child. But once he grew up and the story focused on the girl, it turned very lame indeed. But the music, done by Michael Giacchino himself, was a work of wonders!

That's business these days. Some pretty top notch TV shows get canceled simply because not enough people watch the show during its airing....despite the fact that most people tape TV shows on their cable box to watch later, or even watch online. Networks don't count those numbers. They limit themselves to who watches during the original airing of the show, and they judge the show's performance on those numbers alone. RIP Almost Human, The Cape, Forever, and other great shows who didn't make it past 1 season!

This series had such potential... especially in the modern age! The movie was soo innovative in the 80s, and although the second one was a bit weaker, I still liked the concepts. They could make this into an incredible franchise!!! If only it could be recognized like Star Wars.... TRON has hope. Star Wars is dead until someone else besides Kathleen steps in.
Tron Legacy and Tron Uprising were both fantastic. Underappreciated. I enjoy them more now than I did when they first came out.

Tron Uprising was actually one of the best shows Disney XD has put out in years, dark, funny, not too childish yet not too mature, it had a perfect balance; heck, it even won awards and Disney pulled the plug on it! It's like The Clone Wars, an impressive show, with everything on it's side, yet it gets cancelled and replaced with garbage (Rebels is good, not as good though)
Clone Wars didn't quite get plug pulled on it tho, I mean sort of because of the Disney Star Wars buy out, but it at least wrapped up its story unlike Tron Uprising. I would say Uprising was a lil like Disney's Legend of Korra, a great mature animation that kept getting fucked over by its own network

The show was meant to give people the illusion they were safe from harm. So that they wouldn't revolt. Clu is just as bad or conniving as Dart Sidius. Both Star Wars and Tron are about totalitarian regimes. Although the world in Tron is closer to our world. And therefore more real and darker.

I, too, think that Star Wars was the biggest reason the third Tron movie was canceled. Tron has been referred to by many as Disney's answer to Star Wars. Now that they have ACTUAL Star Wars, they don't need a wannabe franchise. And between The Force Awakens and Rogue One, they have proven that Star Wars is in good hands. Sure, some hated TFA for one reason or another, and the same goes for RO, but both of Disney's current Star Wars offerings have enjoyed significant global box office success, and that is what the executives care about.
I really wish they would have done TR3N, but if they can give Star Wars that much more of their budget, I am willing to accept that they didn't. One thing Disney knows how to do well is leverage their successful IPs. And with a Star Wars movie coming out once a year for at least the next four years, especially maintaining the energy and momentum of the two they've delivered so far, I think I'll be well entertained.
Rogue One and the forthcoming Han Solo anthology films explore events between Episodes 3 and 4 of the main saga. And we have to remember that there is a 30 year gap between Episodes 6 and 7 in which even more anthology films could explore events in the vastness of the Star Wars universe.
Regarding the future of Tron... I would like to se them introduce the world of Tron in the form of a Free To Play massively multiplayer environment, in which we can be both spectators of and/or participants in a yearly story arc. I would so play that.
Yeah, lets face it, right now Disney is busy pumping out a HUGE string of movies.
In just the next 12 months: 4 (5?) Marvel films, Star Wars, Pirates, 2 (3?) Pixar films (Cars 3 and Coco, Wreck it Ralph 2?); and not long after: Live action Mulan, The Incredibles 2, another Star Wars, 2 MORE Marvel films. And Im sure Im missing some. They are busy as hell.

Lmao I'm one of the few people I know who didn't actually care for Force Awakens. Was a decent movie but copied wayyy too much and had a lot of dumb lines that seemed out of place for a star wars film.

I'm pretty sure that was Disney's intention, and they certainly did try to make it happen. There was a brief period where Tron was EVERYWHERE, and Disney didn't want you to forget it. Remember those Marvel Comics variant covers with characters redesigned to look like they were in Tron? Those covers had nothing to do with the content of the issues; they existed solely to promote Tron as your new favorite thing. Too bad for them, people lost interest quickly.
The whole scenario just goes to prove the old adage, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink." Disney bombarded us with Tron, but Tron isn't what we wanted.

The reason the Tron video game failed is simple: it wasn't the right genre. A tron MMORPG similar to GTA but in the Tron world would have made so much money
A MMORPG may have also struggled in the video game market. That particular style of game has declined and even the famous World of Warcraft had half the number subscribers in 2015 compared to its 2010 peak.
The Matrix trilogy also had a MMORPG. Despite the movie franchise popularity, it eventually shut down due to a lack of paying subscribers.
Tron Evolution failed because of its design flaws.. way too much trial and error/cheap deaths to be enjoyable and the combat really could have used some work. I still beat the bloody thing but it was far from a good game.

That's a shame. I really wanted to see another. Olivia Wilde's character was so interesting. I would have loved to see a movie about her life after The Grid.
The scene where Kevin rewrites Quorra's code, they shouldve turned her into the new Tron with the "T" logo and everything. It wouldve been great, Kevin wouldve given Quorra Admin access, turning her into "god" so he wouldnt have had to stay. Then Kevin and Sam couldve gone home together and felt safe leaving The Grid in Quorra's hands, just like when Kevin left it in Tron's hand in the original movie.
He doesn't rewrite her code. He even says it's too complex for him but he manages to decrypt it ONLY to fix her arm. He couldn't turn her into anything else because he also says the ISO's are more advanced than programs, including Tron or CLU.
The point of the movie wasn't to be an easy victory. It is super influenced by the bible and other dichotomic religious icons. That's why CLU's personality is based on the mythology of Lucifer. He looks just like Flynn (God) but is only a copy with limited rationality. That's why his light isn't white but the second brightest color: Yellow.That color is also the color of the sun, which is the Morning Star (Lucifer). Sam is the son of God and even his coming is announced by the opening of the "gate" which is a bright star in the sky just like when Jesus is born. Tron represents the angel corrupted by CLU, turning him into a red program. The ISO's represent the part of humanity who is able to find divinity through mortality, the enlightened ones. While the rest of the programs are just the regular humans doing what society tells them to (programs), serving whomever is in charge without being able to look beyond the world they're in.
Gabriel Caram Well Gabriel, perhaps you should tell this to everyone that hates this film. Anyway, I was just looking for a Tron film, but tron was hardly in this, and his total screen time as the actual tron was extremely miniscule.
A better ending would've been to let the recently woken Tron prevent Flynn from reintegrating with CLU, making him the hero at the very end allowing both Flynns and Korra to exit, thus serving its purpose as the program made to protect the users. You're right in pointing out how the movie is named TRON and he doesn't even show his face once besides from the flashbacks. I think Disney just didn't want to put an effort into it because of their current business motto of rebooting only what is already known and liked without taking any risks...besides from Ant-Man which I ended up liking very much even when it seemed like it was going to suck.
I know that is a shame Olivia Wilde was amazing in Tron legacy

I thought Tron Legacy was going to be amazing so I rented the original from Blockbuster. That way I could have the backstory. I wasn't disappointed. Then when I saw Tron Legacy in the movies. I was blown away at the story and the visuals. It reminded me of how I felt when the 1st Matrix came out, you just knew you were experiencing something that was never seen before. I think they're underestimating how much Tron had left in the tank.
Tron Legacy made as much money as Star Trek, which got 2 sequels.

As one of the few people who played the transfer game, he was downplaying when he said it was sad that it never launched. That game brought so much nostalgia and happiness to me. It actively changed my view on the grid.

It's not Disney's fault that Tron and tomorrow land failed. let me put it like this, why take a risk and make something new if no-one is going to see it. I have loved every original live action film they have made (except pirates 4) so it makes me sad that Disney is to scared to do anything about it.

Got axed because they keep changing the time slots, the toys? “No can do they’re all out of service” or something like that, the games? “Let’s not adverfuckingtise this game cause the movie didn’t do as good as we wanted”. Those are things Disney is to blame and I really liked this movie
I liked both TRON: Legacy and Tomorrowland. Hugely underrated movies. Such a shame money has to control everything. Creativity should go first.

I want to create a 3rd person open world tron game set after Tron Legacy and Evolution. You'll be able to customize your program with different helmets, cloaks, suits, the light patterns on the suit, your program's face, and much more. You'll be able to aim and throw your disc, the longer you aim the stronger, faster and more tracking the disc will have. You'll be able to dodge by flipping around, block, and parry, as well as be able to use different weapons such as lighter or heavy disc, light staffs, light swords, and end game weapons like being able to use 2 disc.
Multiplayer will have disc wars which will have light cycles, light jets, light tanks, and light runners all with different variations for balance. There will also be duel tournament mode similar to the movie Tron Legacy.
I have much more in a game document. I am a huge Tron fan and would like them to bring it back as well as expand the lore more and add more stuff.
It’s one of my favourite movies ever it’s like to future to me but look at what greed has done to it and video game franchises of today

The whole reason why ratings didn't do so well toward the end of the first season of Tron Uprising is that Disney kept shoving the show around on the schedule. There were MANY times I turned on my TV, ready to watch the newest episode. To my annoyance, the show wasn't on when it was supposed to be scheduled. The last few episodes were aired, but at MIDNIGHT of all times. The show may have not appealed to kids, but was loved by fans of the franchise. I really wanted the show to continue because it had great story telling and animation, but Disney gave up on what was an award winning show. That should have told them to continue the show for the fans, but nope... Disney pulled the plug and didn't even mention cancelling the show. They probably assumed no one would notice that little detail.

Common way to kill a series the higher ups want to go away in favor of some shitty pet project of theirs, move the show around to deflate ratings
fun fact: some of the writters of the Show, were also the same writters of the movie, so you see that if Disney had been more flexible and made the writters do what they wanted to do with the movie we could had the same level or storytelling and plot detail than Uprising, but Disney is more interested in another Hermionie and the Beast or ANOTHER Alice in Wonderland than trying to be creative, or you know pissing on Star Wars fans making god awful decitions with the franchise.

The real problem is that the ORIGINAL teaser had a better vision and alluded to a better story that what we got.
In the end we got visual and music, but the story poorly paced and didn't make enough sense.
TRON uprising animation was cool as fuck. I guess most people don't like cool stuff.

Hanniffy Dinn I like show, but I wasn't a fan of the animation style. It was hard to get around the strong dark shadows on every character, it seemed off. If the animations was different, then i would have watched it more

Looks like Disney didn't want Tron Uprising to succeed at all. It was really great, possibly my favorite entry to the Tron franchise, but it kept changing schedules on the fly and got the worst TV times possible for a Disney Channel show. It was also criminally undermarketed. Tron Uprising is like Disney XD's Legend Of Korra: Great animation, great, mature story, fucked over by the network.
Also, you don't even (reportedly) have the chance to buy _any_ Tron merch whatsoever in Disney Lands/Worlds. How was Disney expecting a (spends 5 minutes thinking ofa metaphor) horse to run when they cut off its legs?

I remember going to disneyland and california adventures a year after the movie came out and tron merchandise was very rare, i stopped at every shop i saw and only things i found was a tron legacy shirt made by hurley, a 80s tron mickey pin, and a drawing of 80s tron mickey which i bought all three. I also miss elecTRONica at california adventures, such a cool spot, i know last time i went after they replaced it with madhatters tea party place i had my tron shirt on and one of the workers seen my shirt and said she misses elecTRONica and was sad that it got replaced.......

Yea I'm 17 and haven't seen the original but I am in love with Tron and the world but as u said they used to show Tron legacy at around 9 pm and that time it was usually my bed time me being 10 or 11 so I wouldn't be able to watch it and same with the Tron merchandise when I went to Disney world Orlando I couldn't find any Tron
From what I heard, Disney created an all-new Pay Per View channel and forced fans to pay extra just to watch episodes. It's that reason which caused ratings to drop, because the fans simply couldn't afford the extra expense.
EXACTLY! THEY LITERALLY STARTED WITH A TIME SLOT OF 8 PM THEN CHANGED IT TO 9 PM AND THEN OUTRAGEOUSLY TO 12 AM. OF COURSE A SHOW IS GOING TO BOMB BECAUSE OF THAT! It literally looks like Disney made the show do bad on purpose because they werent interested at all and just wanted to get it over with.
"Tomorrowland" bombed because it had an uneven plot, a queasy love story between an older man and a robot that was essentially a 12-year-old girl, and couldn't quite decide if it was a grownup movie or a tween movie. You also had to wait for the last few minutes to get out of "downer" mode. (And did I mention the creepy love story essentially between a guy in his 40s and a 12-year-old girl?) "Tron: Legacy" didn't bomb, it just didn't do the kind of box office the Maus Haus wanted... partly because a LOT of the marketing was along the lines of, "You waited 30 years so here's your sequel, guys!" as opposed to, "NEW MOVIE! NEW MOVIE!" There was also the problem that Tron was such a minor character that he could've been eliminated completely without major impact on the script... and if I remember, he's only "redeemed" (red back to blue) as he's apparently falling to his death.
C'mon, Disney -- a little common sense and some good scriptwriting would go a long, long way....

And one should point out that George Clooney was actually in his fifties, mid-fifties, not his forties. So we're talking about a love store between a guy in his fifties, albeit George Clooney, and a robot that looks like a 12-year-old girl.

I LOVE both movies but the sequel was more enjoyable and is something I could probably watch numerous times over and over..Must be those god tier Daft Punk tracks.

They forgot the most important reason. Disney has merchandised the hell out of their princess line to girls and have been trying to do the same for boys. That all changed with the purchase of Marvel and Star Wars, they no longer needed anything else. I wish they would continue Tron but I'm not holding my breath.
I think Disney just makes a TRON film after every few decades just to flex their CGI prowess. Let’s face it, Disney has the best CGI in the business.

In June 2020, Walt Disney Studios President of Music & Soundtracks Mitchell Leib confirmed in an interview that a third Tron film was being actively worked on at Disney. He said that Disney has a script written and was looking for a director, though was hopeful that Kosinski would return, as well as saying that it was a high priority for them that Daft Punk return to do the score. In July 2020, The Disinsider reported that the third film is still in development as a sequel at least of sorts with Leto and is currently looking for a director and could see the cast of Legacy returning. In August 2020, Deadline reported that Garth Davis had officially been tapped to direct the film from a screenplay by Jesse Wigutow.
There will be a new "Tron" coming out on October 10th of next year. It will be called "Tron: Ares" & it will feature a new cast, new characters & a brand new storyline, however Jeff Bridges will return as Kvien/Clu. Nine Inch Nails has been brought on to do the soundtrack. The new movie will be completely different from the first two "Trons" as it will center on a computer program called Ares who comes to our world from the Grid intent on taking it over just like Clu wanted to do in "Legacy." There was a huge presentation on it at Comic Con a few days ago & the trailer from what I've read, heard & seen, the trailer was received quite enthusiastically & was spectacular. Looking forward to it. I hope you are too.
I kind of think they decided to invest in star wars rather than tron. In hindsight, it looks like that was the wrong move, but it did save Tron's reputation from current social issue's. I spose I'm thankful of at least what was, than what potentially will be, though I am hopeful.
I loved the Cyberpunk-Themed Tron Legacy movie, hell, it even showed me something which I am going to Programm in my own game: A cyberpunk themed big city with decent neon spots all over the place and futuristic transport options and glowy mystic-cult robes all around the streets.
