Its amazing to think that the Inner Sphere united to fight the Clans but never realized that the greatest villains in history, arguably worse than Amaris and his goons, had been tolerated for centuries. And by the time they were confronted, it was too late and we had that wonderful warcrime-a-thon put on by WoB. Spot on, Great Houses...
What's weird is that as we get further into the 2ndSW, certain Successor States do wise up to what's going on. But the consequences of calling them out on it end up being so dire they realise that as long as the war continues, it's better just to leave them alone. Course they probably didn't envision it going on for centuries.

They've still got a few years in them yet. I was actually surprised to learn while doing my research that there were technically still a few left after LCS Invincible (not counting ComStar of course).
We'll get there eventually. The 3rdSW may be much longer, but there's not so much to talk about until the 3000s, so we're much closer than it might seem.

Well obviously the biggest was the Battle for Terra which we did a 105 minute video on but there's others down the line we'll cover in similar detail. I'm not cutting anything quite as grand as that, it's just that usually there's a little more than I include on most of these battles. Far too little to make a video on, but often some specific quirk about the environment or defence that I gloss over.
Well this is the first real instance of that going wrong, but you're absolutely right. Despite the disastrous ramifications, two more Marik heirs would join before war's end.
And to think, Comstar continues to get away with this crap for another 200 years. As for the FWL/House Marik, their association with Comstar is really going to come back to bite them in the ass in the future.
ComStar has been messing with the Free Worlds League for centuries. Right through the 2ndSW and into the 3rd, not even mentioning everything that happens in the modern setting. They're more antagonistic than the neighbouring Successor States sometimes.

Kuritans demonstrating yet again their honor is a lie, nothing new there. And Comstar already skirting their so-called "neutral" stance. Jeanette seemed genuine in her interest, so them exploiting her like that...well, they clearly saw it as just an opportunity, nothing more. I wondered if they targeted the Free Worlds League just because it'd be easier to manipulate than the others, or if it served some symbolic purpose for them, since they don't ever try subverting any of the other nations in such a direct manner.
2:15 Still wrapping my head around all the lore, but It's interesting that the 5th Sword of Light was primarily deployed to the Davion border for this Succession war, but a detachment was sent to Chandler for Operation Kuroi Kaze. This seems like an odd choice to me.
Thinking about this more: it would have made more sense for the 8th Sword of Light to have fought with the 4th Arkab on Chandler. The 8th were stationed on Stanzanch, considerably closer to Chandler, while the 5th was stationed on Scheat on the Davion front.
@MrOhidunno Weird movements like that are usually just a case of a throwaway line on one of the old sourcebooks mentioning the presence of a unit in some random battle now conflicting with the more thoroughly mapped out lore in the later historical series sourcebooks.

I saw the line in question in the 2nd succession war Sourcebook for the attack on Chandler, and I'm kinda wondering if a 5th was typed when an 8th should have been. On a monitor with less definition and small text, it's super easy to switch 5 and 8 on a quick glance. (I've done this quite a bit myself.)
