I'm recently retired and I worked in TV production for many years, but it’s harder now to make decent earnings because with universities turning out thousands of good calibre media students but there are few opportunities out there for them.
In my last working years I gave a talks to uni students on how to get those jobs even without the track record that employers always ask for. They want to see a list of broadcast credits and experience, but they are unwilling to give many that first chance!
Starting as a runner isn't the best way in. There are smarter ways to slip in, as if you've always been there, don’t stay anywhere too long, build that list. You only have to 10% better than the rest to make it.
