THE WORST Vacuum Cleaner I have ever shown you… Unboxing / First Look / Disappointment / Alcohol

  • Honestly guys and gals, there are some things I do in my life that make me question my sanity, and THIS purchase is most certainly one of those.
Here we have a 2003 Electrolux upright vacuum cleaner that I remember being quite popular back in the day. It was purchased by the ‘older’ generation because it is so incredibly lightweight - even more so than the Oreck XL I showed you a few months ago.
I saw this on Ebay for £27 and thought ahhh why not let’s get it. Well talk about buyer’s regret!
In this video we’ll unbox the machine and find out if it works. Then I’ll talk you through why it’s even worse than the Goblin Housemaid; I think that probably gives you some idea as to just how terrible this piece of Chinese rubbish really is.
Hope you enjoy the video and my obvious pain lol 😉
Don’t forget to comment, like and subscribe as it really helps me out and I love hearing from you guys.
NOTE: After cleaning up the packaging I actually found the lower cover panel that fits over the hole I show you. So that’s something at least…

I had one of these, gave it to some friends eventually to have as an upstairs vacuum but as they were carrying it up the stairs they dropped it and the plastic handle snapped off(also because it was already broken before and someone tried to glue it back together as evident by glue streaks right above the power switch and the fact that I couldn’t remove or lower the handle) After that, they gave it back to me to send to the garbage and I gave them my Hoover T-Series WindTunnel with the cord rewind, much better quality

I bought one of these when they first came out, early 80's I think and I'm still using it today and I love it. Still has original belt in it, no bag to mess with and it works great on my tapestry rugs.

They sold millions of these in the USA as well, mainly aimed at the older crowd and extremely popular with university students. They were usually sold in the "stick vac" section of stores, so I imagine a lot of people had them as secondary machines. They are noisy and not very effective, but I'm slightly nostalgic for them since I have seen so many. I think the 90s cordless version was better even, less noisy at least.
I had a slightly later (2009ish) facelifted version from new which had a different filter and bin catch, said catch completely failed after a few months and it was tossed.
They very quickly changed the filter design to be a basket-style fiber filter with a rubber seal all the way around that just pushed into the top of the bin, but still not great.
Would love to see a demo of this one day!

That's really interesting to hear about the re-designed filter system. I don't think we ever got that over here in the UK

I remember having one and I remember being pitiful. It was really loud, the soft brushroll is useless especially when it has a brushroll motor that looks like it belongs in a model train, and the filters design is awful and hard to clean especially the early filter design that you have which let everything thought and into its motor.

2 items to fix, bottom panel use card stock for template (cereal or cracker box) transfer template to smooth side of DVD case (firm flexible plastic sheet and easy to crease) attach and seal sides with painters tape (sticks well and removes easy). Next filter use old cloth vacuum bag, generic hepa bag, or a purse storage bag, cut bag to overlap sides, top, and bottom of filter screen. The cloth will be fitted in front of the coarse screen for an extra fine filter stage. And since hepa bags take a lot to clog and have good air flow should last longer.

Really really good ideas Keith. I did find the lower cover in the box after I'd finished filming. I've done a little something with the machine and filmed the video for it today, so you guys will see the results next Saturday :)

It's missing the plastic 'window' for when it gets something caught you pop it off and pull out whatever is plugging it up. The one you are showing has a completely different filter than mine. Mine has the conical shaped mesh filter with rubber gasket that fits tightly in place and it does a great job, pops right out, tap it on the inside of a waste basket and pop it back in.

These were functional maybe for the price. I would say the worst are those that weren't cheap but perform poorly and came with loads of problems such as "Hoover the one". Another bad offering from Hoover is the "Hydropower" which is basically an awful rip off of the Rainbow water filtration vacuum.

  • @petsandvacuums
    @petsandvacuums 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

These used the same motor as the Superbroom. Infact it is just a larger version of the Superbroom with the motorised brushroll. Absolute rubbish, I know they were only designed for quick cleaning, but when they don’t pick up anything at all, what’s the point? 😂 Any dust they picked up totally bypassed the filter and went straight into the motor fans. Not to mention as soon as it hit a carpet the brushroll would just stall instantly as the brushroll motor was about 2 watts 🤷‍♂️😂

It looks absolutely terrible and I though that old Dyson cleaners were loud, this seems to even beat those. Who would've thought a 200 watt motor could make so much noise. It would be interesting to see it used once though just to see how bad it actually is and then get rid of it. Maybe even make a video of killing it off as it would be enjoyable to watch.
