    I love it! Finally an unknowable horror that can be defeated by punching it in the face. It's refreshing almost

    This is odd for an "eldritch" tale to have a happy ending. It was still a good story thanks.

      Personally I credit this to the author. Robert Bloch tends to wrap up his stories more neatly and completely than Lovecraft does.

    I've been reading Robert Bloch, as well as some of the others here for many years. What I really like is finding so many stories I've never seen by these people. It seems the books tend to print the same stories over many times and completely ignore other great ones. Thank you!

    This is a good story and narration!
    I love when a narrator tells the story of their famiy.
    I never heard this story before, and love how it ends. Thanks for narrating this.
    Note: I had to re-write this a couple of times because somebody keeps disliking my comments. Lol! I apologize if it keeps popping up.

      Thanks John - Bloch was incredibly young at the time, which possibly explains the length. I'll be reading one of his later tales in a few weeks: Notebook Found in a Deserted House - and it'll be over an hour in length. Ian

    The 66th like yet again! This is happening to me so regularly as to become beyond doubt odd. I must read up on my numerology and see what is going on with my constantly seeing groups of same numbers and waking at set times.2.22 , 3.33 etc etc and coming across groups of 6s so often in my everyday activities...Perhaps I have meddled too long with forbidden things! 😉

      @@FIONA21ful this is what is called synchronicity, 3'6'9' 11' and combinations of these, are numbers of universal positivity. When you come across these numbers often it's usually the sign your positive mindset has set you in a type of current that lies within the flow of all the universe. By keeping a positive mindset, paying attention to the signs in the road, you can ride that positive flow into the future. Just keep doing the next right thing while keeping a positive mindset.

      Nikolai Hanuschak boy, do i wish that would really work. sometimes i see some sort of different thing than usual in the avenues of the Upper West Side (NYC) and this repeats 3 times. once only it was 4. and lately it’s been 2, which is just chance. what i’m talking about is a woman with certain kind of cane or some one walking like a black dog - and these are not long walks. anyway, i thought it might be of interest. :}

  • @ThisTrainIsLost

    Very well written in language that approaches verse. Alliteration aplenty and a steady pace. However, I find that the whole horrific tale begins and then builds up towards.…an anticlimax. A well spun tale that feels like something caused its author to suddenly rush towards a conclusion with only a few pages to go. Was he interrupted? Nailed to a deadline? We'll never know. I do know that I greatly enjoyed what I heard and can only wish that there'd been just a little more.
    Thank you for the upload, good Reader!

    So what happened to the reading of "The Loved Dead" by C. M. Eddy and H. P. Lovecraft? I found that you have deleted that from just about everywhere. I think I know the reason why you've done so, but I'm not so certain.

    • @HorrorBabble
      @HorrorBabble  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi rameme - I suppose we can explain at this stage! We received a copyright strike from Mr. Dyer at Fenham Publishing (who allegedly holds the rights to Eddy's works). I emailed Mr. Dyer by way of an apology and to attempt to establish some sort of relationship, but he has thus far chosen not to acknowledge us. It's a little bit frustrating, but some folks would rather just shut us down than attempt to establish a dialogue. It goes without saying - we won't be approaching Eddy's works again! Ian

      i didn’t know how to spell these words, but i found them.
      Ok nictalopic means hard to see or night blindness - it’s an ophthalmology medical term.
      a cenotaph is an empty tomb placed away from the grave for a deceased person.
      malefic - causing harm. astrology - Saturn and Mars having a bad influence. i do know malefactor or someone who has committed a crime. so not quite the same but derived from the same origin. :)

      @@feralbluee I recall learning the term 'cenotaph' from a Pink Floyd song. One of the ones off of 'The Final Cut'. Malefic is more commonly seen in the form maleficent (the Disney villain was well named.)
