I remember an On the Spot playing where Rod Roddy let out a big groan after a contestant asked for the brand of the coffeemaker being used for that playing. Rod knew this game was crap, and he wanted us to know.
This is the favorite game of a friend of mine. He was less than a year old when it debuted too. Plus he was an actual contestant on the show in December 2023.
Curious to know, what classic themed showcase would you like to see return? Every room in the house? Famous moving company? Trip to the mall? Train depot? Famous street (mannequin)? License plates?
I do remember Rod Roddy had only 1 episode where he announced TPIR & that was the season 32 Premiere episode where Time Is Money debuted. It was also the final episode when Rod Roddy worked on The Price Is Right, while losing his battle to colon cancer & passing on in October 2003.
And On the Spot had a set change. The numbers were at first too small AND it didn't make 6s and 9s clear enough. So the audience side was made much bigger. Contestant side was made smaller
I know what the next game is... TIME IS MONEY! And while I did understand On The Spot's rules, I do agree that it sometimes took too long to play. Just wasn't going to work.
I know one of the people who won this game. I forget if he's told me before whether or not it was difficult to him. I first remember hearing about it when his win was mentioned on the local news in my area.
Constructive criticism here... It would be helpful to some if the gameplay was explained in these videos. It wasn't told how the game was played or what made it confusing.
I still think it's coming or going I mean I don't know when rod Roddy passed on or when coming or going 1st aired all I know is that half off was the 1st mini game/pricing game during the rich fields era
My mistake, it was coming or going was the final game with Rod Roddy. But 1/2 off premiered right after Rich Fields became the permanent announcer due to Rod Roddy's death
Isn't Pay the Rent's set extremely big & thus hard to move, let alone to the new studio? I could see its fate going both ways: Either it's being rebuilt/redone & will come back on sporadic occasion, or it'll be retired because it's next to impossible to win the top amount (I think only 1 person ever did).
I hope not I don’t want that game to go 😢. It’s easier to win than their other highest cash game under it which is plinko. And since September 2010 there have been seven winners and that’s fine in my opinion because a prize that big on a daytime show can’t be given out easily like that. There has to be a challenge of some kind so idk I just pray they don’t get rid of pay the rent omg
The game title board clashes with and looks horrible against door #1 (not a fan of that redesign, either, though it wasn't as bad as the "Hollywood" turntable design - blech!).
Is this the most recent retired game? What about Magic #? Was the game "Do the Math" supposed to be Magic #'s replacement? Magic # is an easy game to win! I hope they don't retire Pay the Rent, that game is more thrilling than Plinko!

That clip is on TH-cam.

Hey that’s me :D
"On The Spot. Also know as "When Preschool Artists Attack.""

1:36 Wasn't Jeff Davis one of the fill in announcers after they gave Rich Fields the boot?

Maybe the Department Store/Trip to the Mall

0:20 He said that he wasn’t a fan of On the Spot, so give him a break
@@PatchElelion What does that have to do with HOW it's played and what makes it hard?
I read that *Pay the Rent* set was being redesigned making it smaller than the original set, since it was too big when TPIR moved to a new studio
Next one is Tie Is Money, the final game to debut on The Price Is Right, before Rod Roddy died from cancer. That one will be a great thrill to see.

Correct the set is too big for the new studio
I like this game -- and didn't find the rules too confusing. I think it was Bob who made it more confusing than it needed to be.
I can't wait because Time is Money is next, I can't wait.
Please do a 5 fun facts about the 1985 Tom Kennedy night time version of the Price is Right. I enjoy these.
It's definitely in the works!
What was the percentage on this? My guess is less than 10%.
"On The Spot" was mentioned several times in the lyrics of John Sebestian's "Welcome Back, Kotter".
I was fine with this game; there are many others which deserve my vitriol a lot more.
Retired? Than Ressurected? Balance Game!!!!!

fun fact #1 msx hates this game
What gave that away? :-)

I was about 7 when this debuted. Even that young, I disliked it
On The Spot sucks and it gets an F-.
Ugliest. Pricing. Game. Of. ALL. Time!!!!!
