    There's a difference between fast and quick. 120 mph is fast, a lot of cars can do that - eventually. But how quickly a car gets up to highway speed is what we're talking about. The older 4-cylinder Accords are not really quick. They can go fast for sure, but they can't get up to speed as quickly as some other sedans.

    My 2003 Accord gets to 60 MPH in 5.9 seconds. That's about a second faster than a typical V6 Accord. Mine has around 255 HP

    My 2004 Honda has the defective airbag which can kill or hurt you if it deploys.First, I NEVER got a recall notice from American Honda. I called my local Honda dealer in Naples, FL and they said an advisor would call me within 3 days to schedule an appointment and they NEVER called me! A week and a half I drove to that Honda dealer and they gave me an appointment a month and a half later. Otherwise the car has been great.

    I have a 2007 Accord SE with the 4 cyl. engine and the power is more than enough for me. The V6 is a powerhouse, but many buyers don't need it unless they really want that power.

    • @jherskine
      @jherskine 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I agree... the 4 cylinder Accord is fine for most people. I have a 2007 Accord EX-L V6 Sedan because I want the power.

    My 2004 Accord EX has 200,000 miles. Only parts replaced other than brakes, tune up, tires & filters has been a headlight and 2 brake light bulbs. It still looks and runs great. CD player never had a problem. Change oil every 10,000 miles as recommended by Honda.

    • @jherskine
      @jherskine 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Keep on taking care of your Honda, and you will get another 200,000 miles out of it

    • @betonthis1
      @betonthis1 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Same thing except had to replace the starter and alternator just recently. But the CD player issue is very common. Mine made a loud noise over the speakers and stopped working altogether. Instead of buying a replacement I just added an aftermarket unit for $100 that has Bluetooth.

    The 4 cylinder does not struggle I have a 04 and it has lots of pep. Still the most peppy Honda 4 cylinder I've driven. The v6 also handles worse with all the extra weight.

    • @jherskine
      @jherskine 9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not true! I leased a new 2004 Accord LX 4 cylinder Sedan, and it was a dog. In 2007, I turned it in when my lease was up and purchased a new 2007 Accord EX-L V6 Sedan. The V6 engine is extremely quick and the car is nimble (with the exception of a lousy turning radius), and although the gas mileage is worse than with the 4 cylinder engine, it is still decent. Even though these two cars are virtually identical (except for the engines and rear taillights), I'd have to say that the 2007 with the V6 is far superior and seems to be a better car quality wise. It has now been more than 7 years, but I still own my 2007 Accord, and I have no intention of trading it in or selling it.

    • @DTmusicmanjp6
      @DTmusicmanjp6 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ️Ya the v6 is faster though you're right. depends on the standard or auto with the 4 cylinder

    They make it sound like the only issues are with the CD player, lol. It's very well known Honda's around this year, especially the v6's have extremely weak transaxles. But I guess knowing about the CD player is the only important thing,lol.

    The four cylinder struggles to get up to highway speeds??? Not the case in my '07 SE. I have no problem getting on the highway or passing people. In fact it has more pick up than some V6's that I have driven.
    Personally I am shocked that anyone would even consider a Camry over an Accord. Also having had an '03 Camry LE I can tell you the Accord is far superior in almost every regard. The Camry drives like a minivan the Accord drives like a sports car.

      Khol ik this is old but do u still have ur car? How's it holding up? I'm def considering an 05-07 accord for my first car (the one I'd prefer is ex v6 tho)

      Try the automatic transaxles, lol. Who cares how the CD player works, if the transaxle craps out around 100,000 miles or so,lol.

  • @gemini291
    @gemini291 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree with the assessment that it struggles to get up to speed. I drove a 2006 SE with 18k miles for 18 months. I put 25k miles on it in that time. It was a work vehicle. My personal car was a 99 Grand Am V6 with 150k. While the Honda was a better ride in every way, the engine was slower to get off the line and you had to plan way ahead to pass, and shifting was more jerky than the Grand Am. And the Grand Am wasn't exactly a sports car. I also never got lower than 29 MPG, 30% city driving YMMV

    I have a 2004 Accord EX and it has 105,000 miles. The alloy wheels somehow peel pretty badly (all four). The A/C belt tensioner rattles and makes noise, which had to be replaced. The exhaust manifold heatshield rattles and when I tried to replace the shield the bottom screw was all rusted out...and all the heatshileds along the exhaust pipe and catalytic converter all rusted. When I put the car into drive or reverse from parking it makes a loud clunking noise---some said it is a loose aluminum axle but not sure what the real problem is (any idea anyone?). The transmission oil and filter had been changed every 30k, and engine oil with full synthetic Mobil 1 oil every 5k along with Honda filters. Not sure what the problem is with the clunking noise, and it only happened when the car turned past 100,000 miles. Had to change an emergency cable because it broke off and would not release if the emergency brake was put to use. The driver side lock had to be replaced because it wore out along with the door opening actuator and both failed when the car was only 75k. So, there were things that should last longer....

    Struggles to get up to speeds? Excuse me lady me lady but what are you smoking? My father's 2003 LX does 140 on the highway, cruising comfortably at 120...I don't know about you but unless you consider the Nurburgring a highway I say it's a pretty decent speed

    lol the 2003 is what they show. I've got a 2003 Accord EXL V6 with navigation, completely top of the line, replaced the tranny once already (by dealer) and will need to do it once again soon :( Otherwise, im sitting at 330 horses right now because the engine is shipped, i chnaged the exhaust from the headers, changed the air intake and bought performance maniford and catalytic converter

    This is an old video, but I'll just wish these reviews would stop bragging around about the "well known reputation" thing when it comes to cars. All car makers have had their good and bad years, there is no such thing as a perfect reputation no matter the brand, be it a Corolla, Lexus, Civic and so on on. All had their problems depending on the generation, transmission, engine, etc. Really these videos sound like a salesman pitch.
