    always loosen fill holed first, because if that is stuck so are you

  • @f114163

    Great, but always remove the fill plug before draining. If you drain the oil and then find the fill plug won't come out you're instantly off road and may need a flat-bed to a shop.If you warm the new gear oil it will thin out slightly making it easier to pump.

      f114163 Good catch .. I always make that same point in every diff. drain video I have done . Oddly the diff bolt removal clip is missing on this vid ? I must have missed it while editing . Amazing I never noticed that when posting .. thanks

      @@fupabox Yup, the fill bolt removal clip must have been replaced with the drain bolt removal clip, which is played twice. Thank you anyway for your video. It has helped me.

      I have done that before on an old rusted plug.Took the drain plug out only to find the fill plug rusted shut.O well , now it has to come out...time to walk to the store and get some pb blaster and pray

    I am thinking of doing this on my c240 here soon because theres a whining/whirring noise that's been there for years that nobody can seem to figure out. Do you think this and a transmission flush would make it go away or would i be better off not wasting my money and just get another one in better shape?

  • @etukenobi
    @etukenobi 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Looking forward on doing this on my w210. Can you jack up car as heavy as that from the differential which would be somewhat easier or would you suggest doing it from the hitch? I'm afraid something will crack and then it's a mess.

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +etu keno That is a loaded question..some people say no some say yes.. I use a hockey puck on my jack to keep from pushing the hard metal jack head against the differential.. I only leave the jack under the diff. long enough to get the jackstands under the jack pads to minimize the stress on the diff mount bushings

    Any input on oil weight for 2005 C55 amg? Dealer gave me the same run around, stated 75w85, manual states 85w90, online suggests 75w90 or 75w140....? confusing to say the least. I was going to get Mobil 1 75w90 is this ok?

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      75 90 is fine . not sure if your spec is gl4 or gl 5 . but most now are compatible with both

    • @kaidiego
      @kaidiego 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fupabox Thank you, I ended up going with mobil 1 75w90 which is GL-5 since mercedes dealer reccomended GL-5. All is well now job done! Thank you for your response!

    Great video fupabox! I can see I've got a leak on my rear diff. First guess would be Pinion? Thanks!

    • @fupabox
      @fupabox  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kevin Berar Pinion seal usually.. if it isn't leaking much , just a wetness.. I would swap oil for a 75-110 synthetic, and hope it stops the leak.. pinion seal is a pretty big job
