    Appreciate this. I recently got a Playstation with one of these carts. I needed to know what it was! Lol.

    Hi I have a problem which I hope that you can help me with. I have a PS1 model number scph 5552 pal and it works flawlessly and if I install my blaze Xplorer FX cheat cartridge into the parallel I/o port it boots up and lets me select cheats and starts my pal final fantasy 7 no problem with cheats activated. But it will not work at all ever with final fantasy 8 or final fantasy 9 it just gets to a black screen. I can't for the life of me figure out what is wrong the console works 100% the cartridge works 100% eg with final fantasy 7 but ff8 and ff9 will not boot with the cheat cartridge installed but they boot without it. The console is pal and the games are pal and the cartridge is pal ??????

    Awesome! I have a psx with the parallel port I have a gold finger cheat cartridge coming in the mail so I can actually play burned games without doing the game swap trick.

    the link port was only used for the link cable.
    Also I had a hard time getting that comm port cover off as well. Which is good. it will not accidentally fall off, haha

    Why do you have to smash the power button so hard?

    It can also be used for playing Imported games or burnt games.

      I have a chipped PSX so I'm not sure, but it may be able to, since it overrides the boot sequence.

      @@pandaengineering I think the modchip does inject SCEx to fool the system believing it's a real disc.

    Jus got mine out of storage after like 5 years and everything works it seems. But I can't get my import and burned discs to start like they used to anymore. Jus stays stuck on "start" screen. What am I doing wrong

      My first thought is that your laser may be dying ☹️ sometimes for scph-100X models quick fix it putting the console on the side like PS2 before starting and it will work for some time, but eventually laser may need replacing. You can check if your console can still read burned CD Audio disks vs original ones without the Gameshark thing to see how the laser is doing. It always have problems with reading burned disks first and then it can't even read original ones.

      @@pandaengineering hey hi. Update: got it working by cleaning the contacts. Been playing Asuka 120% burning fest final, bust a groove 2, and lots of other import stuff. Thanks again!

    Hi, is it possible to add new game cheats?

    • @pandaengineering
      @pandaengineering  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, you can type in the codes using controller, although I would recommend to test them first on an emulator, because I had many instances when code I've found on the internet were for a different game build or region altogether, so it can be tricky to find a working ones. Never actually used codes on a real hardware 😅

    • @pandaengineering
      @pandaengineering  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, sorry. This is only compatible with PS1 and only models SCPH-1XXX, SCPH-3XXX, SCPH-5XXX since they were the only ones with parallel port.

      @@pandaengineering Is there a Game Shark just for Ps2?

    • @pandaengineering
      @pandaengineering  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @paolotortelli391 there is, also action replay(rebranded GameShark), Code breaker and Blaze. If you use Open PS2 Launcher there should be a native cheat solution. I read here that if you use Free McBoot, the Codebreaker would be the best. www.reddit.com/r/ps2/comments/q4bbpu/comment/hfznnzq/
      I haven't used any of them myself before and don't have a PS2 to recommend anything now.

    Does this work with the ps1 slim model?

    • @pandaengineering
      @pandaengineering  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately no :( it doesn't even work on SPCH-900X models as it requires a parallel port, see details on wiki en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_models

    • @pandaengineering
      @pandaengineering  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was thinking a bout it too, but I was always afraid to risk it by connecting all pins on it 1:1 to an LPT port on a PC. I *think* it should work, but I don't want to break it as LPT can provide 5V with enough current to fry some chips.
