Bushrod Rust Johnson That's stupid. These professional athletes have to consume many more calories than the average person, otherwise they'd loose insane amounts of weight just from how much they exercise. If she only ate the recommended amount of daily caloric intake for an average woman should would become emaciated, and would be in terrible shape. These people have to be in peak shape, which includes eating correctly, otherwise they would not have the energy to perform. There is absolutely no reason she'd have to vomit to stay skinny. That applies more to models, who have to stay incredibly thin and who do not work out much because it will affect their body shape. Nancy could probably consume upwards of 4000+ calories a day and still lose weight, these professionals train hard.

Don't forget folks that a knee injury is extraordinarily and exquisitely painful. The good news was that she managed to recover from this and win a silver medal at the Winter Olympics. But God, I can't imagine how devastating it must've been for her...
@@PeteNice29 Nope. It wouldn't. Bottom line is that Baiul was better on the day. Kerrigan doubled her only triple jump, she had only upright spins whereas Baiul included a camel spin, and Kerrigan's step sequence was perfunctory whereas Baiul's was easily level 4. Kerrigan also played it safe, while Baiul had the guts to throw in a double loop in the last few seconds of her routine. Kerrigan performed a very good routine, probably the best one of her career, but not as good as Baiul. The judges got it right.

God this is so hard to watch, not only was this poor girl in physical pain, but i can't even imagine how emotionally devastated she was. To commit your life to a sport and to work so hard for it just to have it all taken away. Sucks man
Me watching I, Tonya and also thinking how Tonyas career was just dissolved like that. I guess we’ll never know is she had involvement or not but still if she didn’t then that’s just a little sad. At least Nancy still got to perform.
The guy who struck her with a baton was Shane Stant. He was aiming to shatter her knee, but only hurt a tendon and caused extreme bruising. He was standing behind the camera when Nancy came off the ice. The camera came very close to getting him in shot. He waited until the crew switched the camera off to go after Nancy and assault her. He then smashed a glass door to escape. The attack was orchestrated by Jeff Gillooly, husband of rival figure skater Tonya Harding. Harding was later expelled from the sport for her involvement in planning and covering up the attack on her competitor.
@@charliewegner evidence found in 1994 showed that Harding was financing the attack to take place and was involved in the planning of the crime. She knew exactly what was going on

@ carmen : Life must be rely boring for you. Do you think comments like this make you look cool or something? It actually makes you look like a demtard troll that has a very low IQ
I was around when this happened and I still remember her saying, "why? why?" so devastated in that voice. So very sad that someone would do that to another human being that is literally NOT HURTING ANYONE, just skating. Truly ridiculous.
John Doe You don’t need tears to be in pain. I’m assuming you cry like a bitch over a paper cut. When someone is being physically attacked and both their knee and their dreams are being shattered, the last thing on their mind would be being graceful.
Don't laugh at the way she sounded. I hit my wrist on playground equipment when I was a kid and I heard sounds come out of me I never heard before or since. As much as I tried, I couldn't make those sounds stop for several minutes.
I broke my tibia and fibula at the same time. I didn't make a sound or feel any pain... because I was in shock. Later, I did scream and cry. Plus nobody attacked me. That alone is scary. And I'm not an Olympic skater. So yeah, she had a right to scream and cry all day.
The comment section 99% of people defending her from the people saying she is over-reacting. 0% of people saying she is over-reacting. 1% of me explaining the comment section.
As someone who has dislocated and fractured both their hip and knee, I can immediately relate to the physical part of the pain. However, I am not athletic and I was not attacked, my injury was purely accidental. And even then, I still had the dreading fear of never being able to walk again. I cannot imagine what she must have felt. The fear of maybe not being able to walk and thinking that her career was over. And then there's obviously the fear she felt from being attacked. I am glad she's doing better now.
I messed up my knee falling off an electric scooter, and I still can't sit on my knees. It'll never properly heal. Her pain was so understood and so heartbreaking.
I have never played a sport in my life and find this strange. I've been jumped before and when my friends found me I wasn't screaming why, I was cursing because I just got the shit kicked out of me. Lol
She was attacked out of nowhere for seemingly no reason, that's the real reason she's screaming "why?" It's just pure confusion. "Why did someone hurt me? What did i ever do to deserve this? Why did this happen?!" It's a fair line of thinking.
OK a few things here the idiots in the comments section don't seem to get: 1) Hitting your knee hurts like fuck at the best of times, this was an attempt to cripple her so would have been a fucking hard hit. 2) Nightsticks hurt like fuck 3) She is crying why because she has no idea if her leg is broken or not or to what extent and is convinced her career is over and she is no longer able to do the thing she loves. It's not just pain, it's heartbreak.
Yeah, my dog ran straight into my knee in 2017 summer and I couldn't walk properly for at least two weeks and I couldn't play tennis or run for around two months after that, and to this day it still aches occasionally, but I am fine now.
@Umb O in that moment, her reaction is accurate considering she believed her career was over after all that preparation for one of the biggest events of her career/life.
he was.. as soon as she went through the curtain, she was hit.. the guy said when she came through the curtain, there was a camera man behind her.. he hid behind the cameraman.. after the cameraman stopped filming her, he attacked
For anyone who says she overreacted you need to GROW UP. When someone shatters your knee cap and you’re about to go to the olympics you have the right to be upset. I bet you get more upset when someone cuts you off in traffic.
her kneecap was definitely not shattered, the only injury she suffered was bruising. she was being extremely dramatic for the minimal “injuries” she suffered
Unless you are an athlete who has dedicated EVERYYTHING to your sport you have no room to talk about her crying. From the age of 5 I began my Olympic training in alpine skiing. I was born in Squamish, BC and essentially spent every day in winter skiing, my summers training and/or skiing up on the mountains. I dedictated 11 long years to skiing. Competed in 4 international events and 7 within Canada. It was my life. I lost a good portion of my childhood training specifically for the Olympics. When I was 16 I was involved in a terrible accident in North Vancouver which permanently damaged both of my knees. I can no longer ski the way I did. I literally lost 11 years of my life working towards a dream I never got to accomplish. For us athletes, losing the thing we have dedicated our lives to is one of the most depressing things. I have never been the same since. I am 23 now and though it's been 7 years I always look back and wonder how different my life would have been had I not been involved in that accident. It hurts and until you know that pain, shut up.
I agree. I was a figure skater and then a gymnast. In 2015 I tore my MCL. The pain was the worse id felt but honestly the pain of having to quit was worse. I came back expecting a big welcome you know what they said? You’re history. Soon after the grind of high school and juggling all these things got to be too much for me and I Had to leave gymnastics behind. Still I totally understand.
This is true for artists and musicians as well. I was a professional tattooer, my life long dream career, unfortunately a condition I was born with reared it’s head and forced me into retirement at age 30, I spent the last five years grieving my ability to tattoo and make art the way I once did. On the same token my dad is a musician his favorite instrument being the banjo, several years ago he developed focal hand dystonia which has hindered his ability to play. The only people who can make fun of someone experiencing this kind of (potential) loss are the kind of people who have no lifelong passions and haven’t worked their entire lives to achieve or become something specific. Those people are the ones missing out bc they don’t know what it means to truly dedicate yourself to something
I watched a documentary about Nancy and Tonya and it's heartbreaking to watch her cry after the attack. This was a BEAUTIFUL figure skater who had put in SO much effort and hard-work, only to have it torn away so easily? Not to mention the pain! My older sister heavily damaged her knee internally and the amount of pain she experienced was intense - I can't even imagine the pain poor Nancy felt.
Nancy is from one town over from me and we were all rooting for her! Such a shame that Tonya couldn’t handle the competition so she and her husband hired someone to attack Nancy. I don’t even know why anyone gave Tonya an audience in iTonya, should have been from Nancy’s perspective!
I was 14 when this happened. I remember it was a huge story. I felt bad for her then, but looking back at it as an adult years later I really feel pain for her. She was physically distraught and emotionally, too. Imagine working so hard at something and then having this happen to you. Damn! She was not being dramatic (for any morons saying so). A busted knee would hurt like a bitch and then the thought of your career possibly being over. Think about that.
Oh my God, my heart really breaks for her, I get her when she's saying"Why?! Why?!" again and again, it's really senseless why someone should take her health and all her dreams away just like that so brutally when she did nothing but work hard for them.
Weird Al summed it up decently in Headline news. "Once there was this girl who Swore that one day she would be a figure skating champion And when she finally made it She saw some other girl who was better And so she hired some guy to Club her in the kneecap" That's all it was in the end, violence over ambition and jealousy
i’m not even an athlete & this was completely heartbreaking to watch her sobbing. she worked so hard & dedicated her whole life for the Olympics & it was ripped away. wow.
@@conniemaheswaren554 At the time she did not know if it was or not. The idea of all your work being for nothing is enough to make someone despair. Not just excruciating pain, but also emotionally devastated that she couldn't compete that night that she trained so damn hard for. Makes sense that she's crying as hard as she is.
Idk how ppl can make fun of something so serious, imagine putting in so much hard work for something Nd then seeing it all getting shattered in a moment, how insensitive it is of ppl who made fun of her reaction, idk if you'll have ever worked hard for something or know struggle or ambition. I hit my knee cap with the wall beside my bed, Nd I was crying for half an hour straight. It's real pain.
Coming from a dancer prospective. Her saying “why?” Is both from the fact that someone just assaulted her out of no where and secondly her realising that her injury could be career ending. I’ve had some many dance peers get injuries that could spell out the end of them dancing and it’s devastating. To not be able to do the thing you love and enjoy, that you also put your own blood sweat and tears into. It’s unimaginable.
These people saying she overreacted.XD I t would be so funny to see how they would react if someone broke their knee with a pipe. I bet some of the dudes would cry like 6 year olds.
40 years ago I was in COOK County hospital recovering from foot surgery and and a guy was on the same ward recovering from knee surgery because he was KNEE CAPPEd by robbers on Chicagos westside!
I remember this happening. I've never seen this footage and honestly I can feel the absolute devastation and pain in her voice. It makes me want to cry.
After years..I still find this so upsetting..that two men came and assaulted her with police batons. To take away this one performance, that she dedicated her entire life to, for it to be in 8 minutes. Just stolen!
Katsuki Stole My Soul no she didn’t have permiment damage nothing was stolen and this happening to her actually gave her a career made her important and she is so stuck up in every interview
@Hiii How r u, even so, this is illegal. I wouldn’t wish this upon my enemy. Skating is so unappreciated, & is so much harder than it looks. You can hate her all you want, because she stuck up, or if she’s just full of herself. But never, should you think this is ok. If something actually happened to her ankles, her career would’ve been over. One wrong move, & it would’ve been over. This was a lot more serious, than it looks my friend.
Katsuki Stole My Soul it still wasn’t stolen she still got a spot on the Olympic team and won two gold medals her knee wasn’t even hit she had a small ‘injury’ and was skating in a few days it doesn’t look bad it just isn’t bad
Hiii How r u, you’re missing the whole point. Like I said, even if I wasn’t that bad. It could’ve been bad. Imagine two grown men running at you, covering their faces, twice you’re size, & start swinging police bats at you. Wouldn’t you be a scared? Traumatized possibly? That’s not overreacting, I would be shitting my pants. & you don’t even try to deny it, because we all know you would be too.
One two men did not run up to her only one of them two they hit her once above her knee which left bruising he hit her once three I did not say she was overreacting people keep say she isn't overreacting why r people saying that when nobody is
Yes, and when it happened she obviously had no clue the extent of her injury so I know if it was me, the cries would be a combination of pain AND wondering if my lifelong career had just ended.
Haley Miller what incident they didn’t even hit her knee she made a full recovery in a few days in every recent interview she is so stuck up she isn’t inspiring
Bro how can anyone judge her for her reaction after being assaulted and having bones broken, and her getting to miss out on a possible championship? She was heartbroken. Anyone who judges someone’s reaction ability when they’ve been traumatized is seriously lacking worldly experience and completely unable to sympathize.
Some of you ppl have obviously never banged your knee on a desk... let alone bludgeoned right on the cap. This is jarring to watch. The toughest guy would've reacted the same way.
I tore my ACL in May. When the pain arrived, I just cried, I couldn‘t stop crying. It was the worst pain I‘ve ever felt in my life. I had never cried of pain before and it was just a horrible feeling.
I’ve never had my knee broken, but I’ve twisted my ankle pretty bad. I was running and I accidentally landed on my left foot wrong, which led to it rolling sideways and and I fell on the floor. The pain was really intense. I screamed and fell to the ground. I couldn’t talk because of how badly it hurt. I felt super nauseous and almost passed out. I can’t imagine how having your knee broken would feel. Idk why anyone would’ve made fun of her for this, especially because injuries can be career ending to athletes. Poor Nancy. I’m glad she recovered.
i never liked nancy kerrigan, and its okay if you didn't either, but you don't have to call her a drama queen. she was injured. you would cry too -- and don't say you wouldn't.

No unfortunately that wasn't the problem. Are you forgetting that she was attacked by two men with POLICE BATONS? That's why she was sobbing like that, if that were me I'd be crying my whole life out
I could never believe people were so cruel, making fun of her for this. She was attacked, out of nowhere. She was in pain. But people just kept making jokes, imitating her and the media played it every second they could. It's no wonder she doesn't really like talking about this time in her life.
God I can only imagine how much that hurt. I had back injury young and my back is never the same after that. This could have been the ending of her career that she worked for so hard.
A lot of black people had no idea that figure skating was so gangster until this incident. We were sitting back saying to one another, “are you serious?”
Why must white people be so excited to talk about "I'm so PROUD of my Dutch/French/German ancestry!" Then when a black person says "I'm so PROUD of my Nigerian/Panamanian/Kenyan ancestry!" suddenly white people can't shut up about "Were all ONE race the HUMAN RACE >:o" "OMG WHY MUST BLACK PEOPLE MAKE JOKES! Could not be fixed with surgery. Glad Nancy was able to recover. What was done to her was terrible. People don't realize what a bad injury it is.
She's not a drama queen, her saying "Why?! Why?!" I felt that, it hurts like hell, more than the physical pain but the death of her passion; she probably can see her carreer ends when her legs were assualted. She just finished practice peacefully, why would something unfortunate happen to her like that so unexpectedly. Competitive skaters always bet their life on ice, they always takes the risk for injuries, but to sustain it out of the ice? Yeah right "Why?! Why?!"
Im not sure people realize what its like to train for YEARS for what boils down to a FEW minutes.. that can define your life. Its intense.. the smallest mistake, and you dont get to try again for YEARS... and for this to be something entirely out of her control, entirely unexpected, must have been a shock well beyond physical pain.
why anyone sees the truth , it was not Tonya who want to do that to Nancy it was the ex husband who did that , I think this: Every time when Tonya was whit his husband she always told him Nancy it's horrible and that things, and his ex husband decide to ask someone to do that whit metal things , It was not idea of Tonya to do that

I was 10 years old but i'll tell you this much...hearing her pleading Why Why Why still sounds so crazy in 2019 because I remember it so clearly from the actual 1994 date
Yeah..some people saying she is drama queen..my mind goes like why why why..is she drama queen.. it may be that people who have never worked for anything in life..might feel that.. but if someone ever woke up at 4 o clock for exams, or starved themselves for years only to compete , or put up with excessive stretching and dedicated their time and energy for just one goal would know.. its like preparing for an exam for years or trying to have a baby for years...and then have someone take.thay chance away.. I understsnad that people who made fun of her.. might not have really ever worked hard for anything like her..and couldnt understand why she cries.. the fear of being attacked again..

So she continued skating??
And yet, Harding was always the better skater.

As someone who has dislocated and fractured both their hip and knee, I can immediately relate to the physical part of the pain. However, I am not athletic and I was not attacked, my injury was purely accidental. And even then, I still had the dreading fear of never being able to walk again.

I don't think Tonya had anything to do with the attack.
If Self-Destruction was an Olympic Event, I’d be Tonya Harding
OMG I TRIED SO LONG TO REMEMBER WHERE THIS SAMPLE WAS FROM 😭😭
Oh my God, my heart really breaks for her, I get her when she's saying"Why?! Why?!" again and again, it's really senseless why someone should take her health and all her dreams away just like that so brutally when she did nothing but work hard for them.
Weird Al summed it up decently in Headline news.
"Once there was this girl who
Swore that one day she would be a figure skating champion
And when she finally made it
She saw some other girl who was better
And so she hired some guy to
Club her in the kneecap"
That's all it was in the end, violence over ambition and jealousy
In the end, Nancy got the last laugh.
After the first program at Lillehammer, she was 1er in the standings, and Tonya was 10th.

Competitive skaters always bet their life on ice, they always takes the risk for injuries, but to sustain it out of the ice? Yeah right "Why?! Why?!"
I really don’t understand why people laugh at this? I mean someone got hurt.
Because everyone is a tough guy behind their computer screen.
You don't understand whyyyyyyyy, whhhhyyyy?
You don't understand whyyyyyyyy, whhhhyyyy?
Im not sure people realize what its like to train for YEARS for what boils down to a FEW minutes.. that can define your life. Its intense.. the smallest mistake, and you dont get to try again for YEARS... and for this to be something entirely out of her control, entirely unexpected, must have been a shock well beyond physical pain.
Sometimes when people are in so much shock and pain they don’t cry
LITERALLY NO ONE IS SAYING SHE OVERREACTED OMG
I know it’s years ago because she isn’t, she was literally in pain!
If self-destruction was an Olympic event, I’d be Tonya Harding
why anyone sees the truth , it was not Tonya who want to do that to Nancy it was the ex husband who did that , I think this: Every time when Tonya was whit his husband she always told him Nancy it's horrible and that things, and his ex husband decide to ask someone to do that whit metal things , It was not idea of Tonya to do that
You're stupid enough to believe that?
Any $b fans who knew the sample immediately without having to look it up/ask in the comments?
The “WHY” heard across the world…….
I do ballet, I once got into an accident and my big toe probably broke. I remember my reaction being like hers, I wasn't that expressive, but I was into a lot of pain and I couldn't breathe.
You can see the attacker walk right past the camera, in a black blurry flash right @0:24
I was 10 years old but i'll tell you this much...hearing her pleading Why Why Why still sounds so crazy in 2019 because I remember it so clearly from the actual 1994 date
Such a shame how those men got injured her to not win against Tonya and it's so sad to hear her screaming "Why? Why?" That's heart breaking. People are hurting each other just to win in various jobs. Poor Nancy, her hard work was gone in just a few minutes :(
They say that "after the summer, comes the fall."
🇺🇸
Not even 2 years after America won the Cold War, her entire national media became focused on Lorena Bobbit and Tonya Harding. As Julie Brown put it, "the attack of the 5' 2" women."
And after that-between Columbine, "red states" & "blue states," 9/11, CoVid, and January 6th.......
.........nothing, not the Olympics, not dating, not high school, not election night, not weekend activities, not transfers of power.......
.....nothing truly feels "American" anymore!
🥺
When people don't understand where all the overreaction comments came from because they don't realize that after 6 years people have deleted their shit
I can understand that. That’s pure bewilderment and frustration. Very sad.
I remember being a little kid when this happened. Nancy screaming and crying still gets me to this day.
I've just it just now and it got me gosh thats awful
Doesn't this just make your heart ache, poor little bugger, she was barely out of her teens when this happened, after a broken knee, i don't know how she got through recovery in time for the Olympics but dam she deserved that silver medal ❤
strange that i found this video on my birthday, which is January 6 1996.
Raine S my birthday is January 6, 2005
no tears bc shock and pain! why are you all so mean? ew
Thank goodness they caught them in the end. This type of stuff was unheard of. I was 8 and didn't watch figure skating until this happened. My brother played hockey however.
"If self destruction was an Olympic event I'd be tonya harding."
Not even as an athlete but as a person this so so heartbreaking
0:32 me every morning...
LOL
Not the time for mean lmao😂😂
😂😂
You okay,bro?
😂
I just dislocated my knee cap last week. I cannot imagine the pain she was in.
Weird, Harding was indicted for lying and trying to cover the attack up, yet her cult still defend her. Some folks will literally defend anything.
Scorpius Jones even if she knew about the attack that would only make her an accessory since she wasn’t present at time Nancy was hit
Her father carrying her in his arms breaks my heart 😢 also she was just a kid 😭
