Regarding your issue with Donald's level, Characters don't actually have to be in your party to level up, so Donald was still gaining the proper amount of exp, it just happens that Donald is coded to be 1-2 levels behind Sora for the vast majority of the exp curve, while Guest Characters and Goofy are set up to be 1-2 levels above Sora for most it. This even applies for world specific allies, I learned that in the postgame where I leveled up to the maximum in Olympus Colosseum, and all of my world specific allies were at the max level too. I suppose I should explain some of the RPG roots for why Donald's level is coded to be so low. Oldschool RPGs, which Kingdom Hearts draws many tropes from were mainly derived from older versions of Dungeons and Dragons where characters of different classes required different amounts of exp in order to reach certain levels, and the Wizard was the slowest class to level up in order to balance out some of the bonkers spells they could get at high levels.

Which leads onto the events of Kingdom Hearts 2.

"Why does he have so many zippers?" As a Sora cosplayer, I would like to ask the same question, but with different inflection. Why does he have so many zippers???? 😭
Just found your channel through this vid earlier today, and have watched so many throughout my day off. I just played KH1 for the first time myself, so it was cool seeing what someone elses first playthrough looked like! Keep up the great work, you two ♡
the child like wonder that comes from your girlfriend when she's loving the game that you're making her play is something i wish i could experience again, your vids are great
I am envious of her getting to experience this for the first time. Wish I could be a kid in the early 2000's who's never played this game but is able to sit and play the whole thing.
Funnily enough, I just recently got my wife to play Kingdom Hearts. She knew how often I played it as a kid and as an adult, but never really cared for it. If anything, she was put off by Disney being involved. Fast forward a couple years and we had a BAD argument, getting mad at each other for never taking interest in each others hobbies. Thats how she wanted to play the game, and now its one of her favorites she's ever played.
It was absolutely refreshing having her play through one of my favorite games. This brought be immense joy to watch! You don’t see many people get so excited to visit the Disney worlds or be super into the story anymore and her excitement was contagious. Reminds me of the joy I had all those years ago when I got to play for the first time as someone who had NO knowledge of Final Fantasy, but ALL the Disney love in the world ❤
This game really held up well. Visually, game mechanics wise, and a story wise because it’s straightforward (as far as Kingdom Hearts goes). Merlin, The optional bosses, 100Acre Woods and all the chests and keyboards and how to get them
Her first experience greatly reflects my first experience as a child lol I love it, and I love her unbridled delight at the Disney worlds, it's so cute and also was my original reactions
OMG, I was so hyped to see this first in my recommended. My favorite series of all time. Im more surprised Tarny didn't know about this. You got to make her play all of these now!
After so many years later sometimes you look back and think why did I like that goofy game about that kid with the big shoes with the horribly complex story and sometimes cringey writing, and her genuine excitement to things that wore off for me over 10 plus years ago puts a smile on my face and reminds me why these game do hold a spot in my heart
"Depending on your choices, you can be in for a very simple"...and clean? 😂 This was so fun to watch, but I felt her pain with the platforming. It's always something I've struggled with, even in games like Mario that arguably make it pretty easy, but in KH1 I spent so much time having to backtrack after missing a jump, it was very frustrating
can't wait to watch her reaction to kh2 if you make her play it (but ofcourse she should play the other spinoff that explains what really happens in chronological order because even when i played just kh1 kh2 kh3 and later finding out there's more to it i was still confused lol)
this is so funny because i picked up final mix because the boy i just started dating adores kingdom hearts. i’m on birth by sleep now and im loving it but also this series makes me want to tear my hair out at the same time haha

This is your first video to come across my feed and I just gotta say, her reactions to all the different worlds and whatnot was SO PRECIOUS. That was real joy! Gonna watch the KH2 video once I finish this one for sure!
Two years ago i played Kingdom Hearts for the first time ever and once i finished it, it became one of my favourite games. I'm having a hard time getting into KH2 though because they took away my dodge button QwQ
KH2 puts a waaay bigger emphasis on blocking than 1 did as I remember. Stick it out until you get more of your movement abilities, it'll be worth it I promise!
@@TheWorstPartyMember my blocking timing is shit XD I plan on getting back into it soon. But i got a bunch of other games/projects i need to finish first.
She's gotta play chain of memories next. The combat is polarizing, but the story itself is actually a really well-written memory gambit and (if you know Japanese and look deeper into the meteor shower scene) there's still mysteries tied to it even post KH3

I do remember I bought this game because of the boxart when I was about 10 years old, also I got stuck for about 2 years in Wonderland because tbh i didnt knew too much english (im from Mexico), so once I finished the game I felt so relieved. Watching this video and all the reactions of your girlfriend made me go back in time and remember everything. I definitely loved this one.
I was 10 when this game first released. And to this day more than 20 years later I still play the same way she does. Map cure to the X button shortcut and ignore all other magic entirely while swinging away.
Her flipping out about the mini door had me rolling 😂😂😂
OH MY GOD. Thank you so much. It fills my heart eith so much joy seeing her tackling this masterpiece of a game! Kingdom Hearts is the second most influential game series in my entire life. I wish Taryn a really good time with these games.
This brought me a lot of joy! Like you, I have become jaded to the Disney aspect of the games. But I love that your girlfriend was so excited by all the Disney worlds and singing the songs!
25:45 Sora entrusted most of his Heart to Kairi (Since she's considered one of the seven Princess of Hearts), so when she hugged him, she give him his heart back, making him whole again. Him turning into a Heartless however created a certain blond boy that came to be known as Roxas with the left over shell (his body without a heart) left behind. Which leads onto the events of Kingdom Hearts 2.
Was literally just thinking a few days ago that I’d love to see her play these games, looks like I got my wish. Now my obsession with KH can continue further
Lead me into everlasting -darkness- kingdom hearts!
I could binge this channel all day, feels so familiar and relatable. So cute no matter the game! Makes me wanna grab my boyfriend and subject him to years of replaying games and my senseless commentary hehe, you guys are great
Her reactions is basically how I reacted my first play as a kid on release. Hits me in the nostalgia
My husband and I just found your channel on his recommended and it was so good. Everytime she laughed or was singing I was doing the same thing cause I’ve never played the game before while my husband has
"Why does he have so many zippers?"
As a Sora cosplayer, I would like to ask the same question, but with different inflection. Why does he have so many zippers???? 😭
Sora has zippers on every proper place. But Donald? That hat is one big troll from Nomura.
@Yurikon3 Thankfully, there are far fewer Donald cosplayers. 😂
THIS IS MY FAVORITE VIDEO GAME SERIES OF ALL TIME! I am so excited to see y'all start this journey!
Listening to new players playing the game and hearing the reactions is priceless.
Reminds me of the joy I had all those years ago when I got to play for the first time as someone who had NO knowledge of Final Fantasy, but ALL the Disney love in the world ❤
I love how the Darkside looks terrified in the thumbail.
Another thing, let's hope she's ready for the emotional turmoil.
This game is a fever dream if you know it by heart like me, i can only imagine what seeing it after 15 years must've felt like
This game really held up well. Visually, game mechanics wise, and a story wise because it’s straightforward (as far as Kingdom Hearts goes). Merlin, The optional bosses, 100Acre Woods and all the chests and keyboards and how to get them
Can't believe anyone can make it through that final heartless onslaught without tinkerbell constantly saving their ass
I haven't watched the video yet but I already know your girl is going to fall in love with this franchise.
Her first experience greatly reflects my first experience as a child lol I love it, and I love her unbridled delight at the Disney worlds, it's so cute and also was my original reactions
'The final boss is over the top'
Oh boy, wait till she play KH2, probably one of the most satisfying final boss fight ever.
"Two jawas in a trench coat" XD
The excited squeal and giggles are so relatable she clenched the sub haha
Great job using some of that good ol' Final Fantasy 1 music, I was pleased to hear those tunes again :3
I cant lie nothing is quite as heartwarming as seeing someone play Kingdom Hearts for the first time. That nice mix of wonder and nostalgia.
Excited to see her takes on the story
OMG, I was so hyped to see this first in my recommended. My favorite series of all time. Im more surprised Tarny didn't know about this. You got to make her play all of these now!
I’m so excited for this. I love Kingdom Hearts and I LOVE watching it through fresh eyes.
After so many years later sometimes you look back and think why did I like that goofy game about that kid with the big shoes with the horribly complex story and sometimes cringey writing, and her genuine excitement to things that wore off for me over 10 plus years ago puts a smile on my face and reminds me why these game do hold a spot in my heart
it's weird that i have so much nostalgia for a game i first played 3-4 years ago
Such a fun play-through! I remember watching that Riku cutscene so many friggin times. Haha
Final Fantasy Gate IS OOOPPPEEENNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!
"Depending on your choices, you can be in for a very simple"...and clean? 😂
This was so fun to watch, but I felt her pain with the platforming. It's always something I've struggled with, even in games like Mario that arguably make it pretty easy, but in KH1 I spent so much time having to backtrack after missing a jump, it was very frustrating
New vid let's gooo! I loved Kingdom Hearts growing up so this was awesome to watch
can't wait to watch her reaction to kh2 if you make her play it (but ofcourse she should play the other spinoff that explains what really happens in chronological order because even when i played just kh1 kh2 kh3 and later finding out there's more to it i was still confused lol)
this is so funny because i picked up final mix because the boy i just started dating adores kingdom hearts. i’m on birth by sleep now and im loving it but also this series makes me want to tear my hair out at the same time haha
Oh yeah, let’s go! It’s time to get this started! Can’t wait for you to get to 3, that one is my absolute favorite.
That's like 50 games from now
Ok, I believe you...
Also can't believe she went from maidenless to heartless, what a twist
I absolutely love watching your videos, and I haven’t even watched this one yet but I want to let you know how happy I was seeing you both talking about Kingdom Hearts!! I’m sure it will be a good one!
I have never clicked a video faster after seeing it.
Watching, well especially listening to her amazement as a first timer is actually amazing and brings back some of the magic of the games I thought I have lost long ago.
Am I the only one or whenever I see that they uploaded a video they just make my entire day better
Her genuine enthusiasm and excitement was such a treat, I loved this haha
We all know what must be done. She needs to fight Sephiroth. She doesn't need to win, but the fight needs to happen.
And then she must fight unknown (xemnas)
Such a great video! Can't wait to see her experiences from playing the other KH games :)
getting a girlfriend that goes "eeeeeeeeeiiii" is my personal dream, i
I’m so excited for more of kingdom hearts from you guys!!! Yayy her reactions were purely amazing.
Oh no.. she'll definitely go down to the Kingdom Hearts rabbit hole
This is your first video to come across my feed and I just gotta say, her reactions to all the different worlds and whatnot was SO PRECIOUS. That was real joy! Gonna watch the KH2 video once I finish this one for sure!
3 absolutely hype video holy shit 10/10 video do all the games and all the super bosses
Let’s GOOOOO this was the first series I checked for when I came across your channek
Two years ago i played Kingdom Hearts for the first time ever and once i finished it, it became one of my favourite games.
I'm having a hard time getting into KH2 though because they took away my dodge button QwQ
Play kh2 final mix and Level Up the "Classic"-form or wisdom form, there you get your dodge back
@Xiba_97 ik.
It's just that it's gonna take a while to get there XD
@@vvgirl6173 Block is good enough to carry you until you get dodge roll. Good luck, I believe in you!
KH2 puts a waaay bigger emphasis on blocking than 1 did as I remember. Stick it out until you get more of your movement abilities, it'll be worth it I promise!
@@TheWorstPartyMember my blocking timing is shit XD
I plan on getting back into it soon.
But i got a bunch of other games/projects i need to finish first.
The final lines of the game still stay with me. It brings tears to my eyes to this day! :)
Bro I know I’m in a simulation I played kingdom hearts for the first time in years and they post this 😂
i really really hope what you were saying at 10:54 was a reference to the song since she was in the little mermaid world lol
this was a nice story. its good to see someone experience a game i love for the first time.
She's gotta play chain of memories next. The combat is polarizing, but the story itself is actually a really well-written memory gambit and (if you know Japanese and look deeper into the meteor shower scene) there's still mysteries tied to it even post KH3
Oh Man! Watching this was so nostalgic. I remember how much I struggled in these parts of the game as a kid! So excited to see her play through some of the other games! RE:Chain of Memories would be wild. But obviously KH2 eventually 😍
i have a feeling this is going to be one of those videos that hits a mil
I love love LOVE kingdom hearts and meeting all the Disney characters was just INCREDIBLE!!!! So amazing and fun and cute and I just loved every minute of it. She almost as excited as I was lol 😂❤🎉
These videos are addicting and relaxing. Keep up, you two!
holy crap, you made her play this and i didnt know, i started replaying kingdom hearts 2 around a month ago aswell so this was amazing to see
YESSSSS, I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY TO COME!!!!!
I recently go back to KH2 and BOY it does age like a wine. You need to make her play the second game sometime soon
My Brother played through this with his girlfriend and they hated the gummi missions. I whipped up a suped up gummi ship made with only the best parts and a goofy look all on its own and they sped through those lumps with ease. It's a rough system but actually very rewarding to build your own gummi ship, imo.
Im so excited to see her reactions to the rest of the series if she decides to continue playing them.
Taryn’s first line of the video being “why does he have so many zippers?” is so funny
