What a great day out there fam. It might be deeper down. Sometimes I'll be 5-10 feet away from the gold. 🤯 💫 Great mail call indeed. Keep on having fun getting that Au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out 🤠
G'Day Jason, Yes mate always good to get out bush, you know what I mean 👍 Yes I was thinking next time I will move some rocks and dig to the bottom of the creek. Hey the mail that came by a UFO, how cool was that, I will be giving some Alien rocks away. Thanks for your kind comment buddy 👍👍 Cheers Kev "over"
G'Day Colin, Thanks again buddy for the Alien rocks 👍 My apologies Colin I only put half your channel name up, but it works I checked 👍 I will give your channel another shout out in my next video. "Meteorite mac channel Derbyshire" Thanks for calling in Colin 👍👍Cheers Kev
I've learned but often forget that I have to wash out my buckets or I will be second guessing my results if I get just a little fine gold. Out of curiosity I went out and washed my 5 empty buckets into a pan and got gold every time and one bucket had a small string of really fine gold.
G'Day Don, Mate I'm still not convinced I contaminated the sample. There is fine Gold in the creek, next time I will move rocks and dig deeper in the creek to find out if there is better Gold in that creek. Yes I know what you mean Don, got to clean out the bucket thoroughly, I don't know it's got me puzzled. I will do more test pans to find out for sure. Thanks for your comment buddy. 👍👍Cheers Kev
Some nice hills country there BK. The rain has greened it up. Back to the drawing board on how to next tackle Rocky Creek. Omg those meteorites are just awesome. 👍🏻
G'Day Lozz, Yes awesome country to walk through 👍 Yes I will dig deeper in that creek, the Gold will be on the bottom, if any. Rocks from Outer Space they are different, heavier than they look. Thanks for your comment Lozz 👍👍Cheers Kev
Very interesting spot. The often likely lack of water may have put the old timers off sticking in the big work. Or as you discovered it just wasn't holding much for the efforts. Good to see all the same🍻🫡
G'Day Laddie, Yes indeed, I thought I was on a winner. I will keep scratching around in that creek, do more test pans. Thanks for popping in👍👍 Cheers Kev
I'm not a placer gold miner so I can't really help on this one. Gravity alone with the weight of gold while the water flows should have moved the gold to the lowest point. If there was a large obstruction in the way like a rock the gold could have stopped there first. Just a theory though, hard rock mining is my specialty!
G'Day Spike, I like hard rock prospecting to, crushing & panning the material 👍 Yes you're right with time and water flow Gold will sink to the bottom, unless the Gold washed into the boil hole not that long ago and didn't have time to work it's way down deep 🤔 Thanks for your comment buddy 👍👍 Cheers Kev
Nice country kev. I must ask are u west oz? Judging by height of grass trees that ground has some history. Be worth looking at 45° adjacent to fault line enveloping coming down hill. otherwise ph change and iron bleed outs down water movement.
G'Day Buddy, Yes it is and the escarpment is steep. South West Oz. Wow sounds like you know your stuff 👍 Hey would you mind sending me an email, I can give you more info on the area I'm prospecting. biggestkev1960@gmail.com Thank you for showing interest in my channel. 👍👍Cheers Kev
Shit happens lol...boil holes usually blow out gold, sometimes you can get lucky if rocks jamb in them...anyway, maybe better luck next time...thanks for sharing Kev Cheers mate 👍👽✌
G'Day Gavin, Yes unfortunately it does Gavin. Yeah mate I will dig down to the bottom in the creek and test spots along the creek. Might get lucky😉 Thanks for your comment buddy 👍👍Cheers Kev
Cool meteorites, I find with crevices and also boiler holes they only trap gold when they have tight packed rocks in them otherwise the gold won’t stay in them 💪👍💪
G'Day Andrew, Yes Siree, I will give them away, stay tuned. Thanks for that info Andrew it helps me to understand what happened in that boil hole I sampled. On my first video the boil hole was hard like concrete, but on my latest trip there the boil hole was full of water and the material was soft and easy to dig out. Now I know what has happened, thank you. Cheers buddy take care. 👍👍Cheers Kev
It happens Kev, lots of times I found gold in the top inch and nothing underneath it. There may not have been enough flow to let the gold bury too deep. I think it’s worth persisting, that creek looks good.
G'Day Jeff, Thank you Jeff 👍 There is hope for that creek, I don't think I contaminated the sample. Yes mate I'm going back with tools to move rocks and dig to the bottom of the creek, I will find out for sure. Thanks for you comment Jeff, I appreciate it. 👍👍Cheers Kev
G'Day Mark & Alison, Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes that's my thoughts to, I will do some more test pans in the creek, just to be sure. Thanks for your comment 👍👍 Cheers Kev
G'Day Andy, Yes you're not wrong Andy, just when I thought I was onto good Gold I get a hiccup. I will keep looking. Thanks for your comment buddy 👍👍Cheers Kev
Chasing gold in the Perth Hills is no small task, Kev. Regarding the pothole / boilerhole, it's fair to say that if the loose material contained gold and the hard packed stuff didn't, then the deposit (assuming it isn't contamination) has been washed in more recently. This means you've got two generations of sediment in the trap. If that is the case, then the source must be reasonably local as we know how hard it is to move heavy materials a long way without a large source of energy, i.e. a fast flowing and large volume of water. Having said that, if that was the case, it would make sense that you'd also find it in the loose materials downstream and the slope shallows out. It's an interesting puzzle! It could well be that the agricultural activities over the past 150 years have allowed older leads to be eroded and that's what you've found redeposited very locally. That there is sheetwash that's been worked in the past may be a clue too. It'd be interesting to get a better understanding of the morphology of the area, but to do so would be to give away the spot, and that's never a good idea online.
G'Day Buddy, Yes the Gold in the boil hole has me puzzled but what you have said about the Gold may have been deposited more recent is what I'm thinking. I will go back and move rocks and take samples on the bedrock or as close to the bedrock as possible. I will also take samples higher up on the escarpment to see if I can get better concentrates in my pan. Yes I don't want to give away the spot that is for sure. The area is on a volcanic fault. Thank you for your interesting comment much appreciated 👍👍 Cheers Kev
Pleasure, @@BiggestKev1960. Finding the primary source of the Au would be a remarkable feat, even if it were of such low grade that it wasn't even worth working as a hobbyest or prospector. I hope you have some luck finding naturally concentrated material. Cheers!
Thank you for pointing things out to me. It's just a hobby to me I love wandering around the hills, prospecting. Keep an eye out for up coming videos. Take care buddy. 👍👍Cheers Kev
