A look at the Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.1 kit by MPM

- I said in the video that the Airfix it is no longer available. As of Dec 1st 2023 that was not true. That one is a good kit too.
This is MPM's 'Hi-Tech' kit of a Boulton Paul Defiant in 1/72 scale.
As well as the standard sprues, it contains Photo-etched parts, polyurethane (resin) parts & extra vacuform canopies for the pilot station.
NB: I noticed the spelling error on the kit box too.
Just picked this kit up second hand and found that mine even had a set of Eduard canopy masks 😊 Thanks for the look in the box!

I think the vac-form is liked by some as it is more scale thickness than injection moulded and might allow builders to make the canopy be open. Lots of lovely hiden detail 🙂
Yes, that's probably the advantage. I'm too nervous about cutting the excess off to use it though and was glad of the standard clear plastic.
@@Payne2view Often the va-form is not as smooth. You can afford to try cutting it as if it fails you have the injection moulded to fall back on.
Nice review, Robert. This ain't no Airfix kit, so be ready for a lot of cutting, trimming, sanding, cajoling and frustration. I'll be interested to see if it's anything like the MPM Fairchild 'Limited Edition kit I binned...
The MPM Meteor I built was ok, except the instructions said to build some parts myself. Each issue is different though I suppose.

I'd have just bought the Airfix kit again if I had realised it was still available. Nice to see how other manufacturers go about the same subject though.
