"i cant believe Mengsk would just abandon his troops to the zerg!" starts killing his troops so he doesn't have to build depos. "now he's the law and we're criminals!"
Thank you! :) This was wonderful and super efficient: I just made sure that my Wraith’s energy are at at least 75% and I have a second party. This was fun!
I think the forces around the ion cannon are considered a separate faction, not boosted by either the Duke's or Artucurus' forces, and so also without access to their scanner sweeps. Duke's Alpha squadron always scanned my wraiths when I was dealing with his own forces.
Yo this did not work for me. I only am cloaked for 2 seconds before they start shooting me again above the big round thing. I am only using 12 planes if that makes a difference.
Here I am with my head in my hands wondering why the hell I didn't ever think of doing this many years ago when this mission would kick my ass every time.
Just finished this mission. After destroying the Elite Guard base, I sent 13 battlecruisers (spaced to avoid EMP) and Yamato guns to bear down on the Ion Cannon.
Broooo, every time i try this i get detected and destroyed so fast. Theyve got like 5 ghosts and the science vessel keeps ducking me. The ghosts seem to know exactly where my aircraft are the missle turrets are tough to get past
Played through the terran campaign yesterday in full. Never understood why I had so much trouble as a kid. You literally can just build straight marine armies fully upgraded for almost every mission. This one required a little bit extra at the end, but just use defensive matrix on the dropships and drop in your huge rine army. Not difficult xD
starfoxfxfreak hey I’m struggling on this mission on remastered version and still curious what the best strategies are for defending against a bunch of white terrans when you go to the top where there are new minerals while sending your army to clear out some enemies?
@@shawnrichards8865 Spider mines. Most people don't realize they detect cloaked ghosts. Get the mine upgrade, make vultures constantly and lay 10-15 mines along the corridor east. Attacking units will walk into them, buying you plenty of time to tech up. I never attack White, because that triggers aggression. You can do whatever you want at this point, i have 1 bunker, 2 turrets, and 2 tanks on the east and west entrances to my base which is more than enough. Lift your barracks/ebay to spot units coming from the north. Your tanks will often shoot the units before they can fire back. The downside of mines is that you need to be relatively good at multitasking. Since I play some 1v1, it's second nature to just make vultures and lay mines everywhere, constantly. Since the computer never scans for them... its absurd value. In fact good mine use breaks the Terran campaign, often killing entire attack waves without losing a unit.
@@sursurrus I do find that helpful. I was thinking the best way to have tons of minerals and gas when building strong expensive army since I sometimes like to have a bit of everything for brood war to help
@@shawnrichards8865 yeah definitely. it feels weird to get mines before siege mode, but since most campaign missions start you off with 100 gas, it works pretty well to delay the refinery until the factory starts, then just mine 150 gas for machine shop and mines and pull out of gas. Flash (legendary broodwar terran) says that minerals are the key to terran early on and he's right! When it comes to mine use, against terran bio or zerg or protoss you want them spaced out so 1 unit doesn't pop 3 mines. Against Terran mech you want them clumped b/c tanks and goliaths shoot them down really fast when they pop up. With this approach you'll see how much defense (bunkers/marines) you can cut!
@@sursurrus for Zerg in Brood War as well should you always expand right when you have exact minerals? I sometimes am not sure if you should only move out a little before full upgrades for attacks and defense
Did you not watch the whole video before commenting? It's not like I had to kill all of the enemies. It's much quicker to self kill them. "Softening" the AI would've not only wasted time, but would trigger some of their behaviour scripts.
@@uzziahlatour1052 I only tend to get a few comments a day, so even if I somehow miss one I'll see it later when I go back to the video to read another.
wow that's amazing! I did this level 3 times and couldn't beat it. I didn't think about going by air attack only. Is there a way to beat with ground troops, and I am just not good at it? or is it meant to be won with Wraith only.
another option would be 2 nukes, cloaked ghosts inside defensive matrixed dropships. Definitely higher up the tech tree than that in this video, you might need to clear out the red terran base on the left with a huge number of tanks and goliaths to secure the 2nd gas. things to bear in mind: 1) when the white terran base gets attacked, the AI ferries troops off the island to help defend, so when you're ready to drop the nukes, simply send in all your remaining troops to attack the white base. 2) there will still be ghosts defending the cannon with lockdown, so make sure your DMed dropship is escorted by other dropships, better even with mech units in them. I had 5 DMed dropships full of goliaths, kinda overkill. Unload your 2 ghosts at the top corner, cloak them, and nukes away.
I know this comment is super old, but I have cleared the map. The red base is easily battlecruiser-stomped; the white needs to be bottled up for awhile and then when you've expanded a few times a good rain of nukes will break the AI then whatever cleans it up.
To decrease the need for new supply depots. But he could have just sent them on a suicide mission to attack one of the bases and they could have taken out a few enemy units first.
No, I just beat it in a non-cheese way. Spider mine the right entrance, build up tanks and goliaths, dropships and 1 control group of wraiths. The far west edge of the red base is exposed, no turrets. The wraiths can fly in cloaked and kill the comsat, then shoot down red tanks. At that point your ground forces can just roll over the base, the zero-loss strat is to dropship your tanks to the west of Red's mineral line and seige up. Red and White will send all their air units, wraiths and BCs but your goliaths+wraiths will deal with it. At this point all you need is about 3 BCs and 4 dropships with tanks and goliaths. Head to the Ion area: Use yamato to clear turrets, land tanks, scan for vision of high ground and ghosts, inch northeast.

Does the AI have all nuke silos or something. One comsat and it's all over.
This is simpler than the nuke strategy. This worked for me, thank you!
I've been struggling all week on thislevel. Your tatics are next level. Thank you!
wtf u can actually kill your units?
Why are the enemy goliaths not attacking you while you shoot the Ion cannon? I did the same thing you did except the goliaths shot me down. :(

Ty dude, looks like it im not good enough in this game, never would tough about this tactic.
Here I am with my head in my hands wondering why the hell I didn't ever think of doing this many years ago when this mission would kick my ass every time.
I sent 6 battlecruisers while avoiding each and every god damn wave of units. Took me way longer than this. great idea dude.
I really hope this works... I'm bad at the game and have been stuck on this mission for 5 days! Thanks
Just finished this mission. After destroying the Elite Guard base, I sent 13 battlecruisers (spaced to avoid EMP) and Yamato guns to bear down on the Ion Cannon.
My solution is just to gun it down. I don't bother researching Yamato in this mission.

What the hell do you think you are doing, Jimmy?
Blizzard be like:
You aren't supposed to play like that
Cold blooded murder
Can you do this with Goliaths, Tanks and Science Vessels? Or will the ghosts be a major problem?
So why kill off your infantry units instead of just tossing them at the enemy positions to soften them slightly? Seems like a waste.

Agree, the AI used the comsat to decloak the Wraiths. I think this would be a difficult way to win.

what changes?
which is your reaction towards the nuclear attacks they make

Have tanks defending your base and turrets or science vessels around to detect the ghosts. This way it'll probably be impossible for you to get nuked
