I was at this game. Due to a mixup with a scalper, me and my girl were two blue dots in a huge sea of orange. N.Carolina players (offense) were running onto the field with 4 seconds on the clock. The ref is supposed to keep the ball from being snapped UNTIL the defense is allowed to substitute. It was a total screwup by the refs.

bgpeters22 there is now. This was the last year the ncaa didnt have a run off. It's funny, 2 plays determined to change rules in college. The 2004 NC State vs UNC ending of the game made them add instant replay, then 2010 UNC vs Tennessee ending of the game made them add the 10 second runoff. What's the common denominator here? Unc getting away with bullshit time after time has made rules change AFTER the fact that screw teams time after time. #Facts
wolfpacker1022 lmfao that state play was absolutely not what led to instant replay, in fact instant replay was already being used in the Big 10 that season and had already been discussed for several years as something that was in the process of being implemented for all of NCAA football, there was never even a conclusive replay shown to even show that was an incorrect call..... As far as this game unc actually got screwed by the refs twice on the last drive. The clock was supposed to stop on that personal foul and only start after the snap of the next play, yet it inexplicably started as soon as the ball was set for play. Then there was a blatant late hit not called on the play before the run and subsequent spike. And while UNC benefitted from the no runoff rule, the correct call was made with the rules available at the time, and they weren’t the first team ever to take advantage of it. So in fact UNC got away with 0 calls, while 2 calls in fact went against them, so literally everything you said was blatantly incorrect other then this play causing the rule to change, but that’s bc it was a bad rule, it had nothing to do with UNC getting any favors, more ignorant non factual whining from delusional State fans. #FACTS
It’s funny because in basketball UNC is responsible for a few rule changes as well. Tyler seller drawing charges directly under the basket made them add the semi circle you see today. Also dean smith and his four corners play forces them to add a stop clock. Big UNC fan we aren’t lucky to get away with it we’re just smart enough to find the loopholes.
Sure I will help you out. See the quarterback realized that the clock was running out went ahead and spiked the ball. Stopping the clock with one second left. They were charged with the penalty of 5 yards for offsides, but they had one second left in the game. And they decided to kick a field goal. Do you understand now. I watched the game and was yelling at Yates through the TV to go ahead and spike the ball. Kid was brilliant.

UNC didn't lose any momentum. That was supposed to be their big year. They were really loaded on defense. But they've been to a bowl game every year since. Won two Coastal division titles. Went undefeated last year in ACC play until the championship and took Clemson to the wire. Fedora is an excellent coach.
Paul how do you feel about Fedora now?😂😂😂 oh by the way, only 1 coastal division title, which isn't saying very much, oh yea and a 3-9 season which means no bowl game. Nice try though Lol
The rule is if the offensive team is substituting players, the ref HAS to keep the ball from being snapped to allow the defense to male a substitution. That is why UNC had an opportunity to get the extra play. By rule, the clock would have ran out. This is why they added a 10 second runoff. The irony of this is that two college football rules were put into place because of UNC. The 2004 UNC/State game, when instant replay was added after that game, which UNC won. what a horrible year for Tennessee. Losing two games after they had apparently gone final (this one and the LSU game)....rough
None of this would've mattered if Proctor hadn't missed the XP on Tennessee's last TD.
