Correction, If you pay for parking at one park just show your receipt at the next park and they will let you in. You don't have to pay twice.

And if you are a registered Disney resort guest and already paying for parking at the resort (if, like me on my last trip, you drove to Disney from out of state), you get complimentary standard theme park parking.

If you're hopping to a second park, just show the parking receipt from the first park and you won't have to pay at the second park.

One big con of ride shares you left out: families with young kids who require car seats cannot use them. I believe car seats are available on the Minnie Vans which are just coming back but the price is at least double of a normal ride share from what I have seen

I was super impressed with Disney Transportation on my visit in February. Whether it was bus, monorail, or boat, everything was convenient, clean, and efficient. Ride share worked ok, but if your driver is really dependent on GPS and doesn't know the parks and the resorts extremely well, you could go in circles or get dropped at the wrong place at the resorts.

We stayed at the Pop Century resort a couple of weeks ago and was able to take the Skyliner to Hollywood studios. It was the best way to get there. It took about seven to ten minutes to get there with no long line and the view was great. It was much better than the bus. The buses did a great job of dropping us right near the front entrance.

I'm terrified of heights, but I LOVE the skyliner. Granted if we stop for anything over 30 seconds the panic starts to set in a little bit, but it's just so much nicer than the bus and I will still opt for that even if it's not the quickest way to get to a park. Not sure we'll ever stay anywhere other than POP simply because of the skyliner.

I love Allears. Been following since the Deb’s years. I laugh at every video. Thank you for doing all that you do. Transportation? Car. There is nothing worse than waiting for a bus at the end of a long day (or in the heat) at a park then trying to squeeze into a bus with CROWDS of people while carrying a sleeping child and dragging - dragging - a stroller. Then doing all that with 2 young kids - no thank you. Even though we are past this stage in our kids’ lives, it isn’t worth the time and stress to take Disney transportation.

My one complaint about the Skyliner is that, at EPCOT, it is in the back of the park, so the main alternative when it is down is way at the front of the park.
On our last trip a few months ago, the Skyliner was down for maintenance issue in the afternoon when we wanted to leave. But just the EPCOT line at the time. Hot and sweaty and tired, no one wants to have to walk back to the front of the park when already way at the back. And, amazingly, at the same time, the boats went down so you're basically stuck. It came back maybe 15-20 minutes later but it was still a bit of a wait.
On the other side, the Skyliner is way better at the end of day. With it moving constantly, the crowds dissipate a lot quicker (or so it may seem) than having to wait for the next bus to come and be packed. After the fireworks one day, the line seemed endlessly, snaking through the back at least twice and well down the ways towards Beach Club! But it moved fast, although it was still just as long when we got on only about 15 minutes later.

The Skyliner is amazing if it’s running perfect and you don’t have to loaded with anyone else! If it stops a lot along the way, it can get very annoying and sometimes worry some but when it runs great, it’s my favorite form of transportation!

I love Disney’s transportation. Being a New Yorker who used mass transit for workday commute, I’m totally used to budgeting travel time. I’ve never experienced an issue using any of the transportation options. The Skyliner has to be my favorite. It’s such a delightful ride and it’s an amazing perk for cheaper hotels like Art of Animation and Pop Century. The Skyliner was part of the reason I stayed at Art of Animation on my last trip, but I didn’t take into account that my best friend was afraid of heights. She was definitely not happy every time we took it 🤣. But, I made it up to her by going on scary thrill rides with her

As you and this vid both say, WDW Trans is great, but just want to get to my car and drive away when I want. At Epcot, AK and HS, no separate venue first (TTC) just directly to your car.

Skyliners are nice, but are an extravagance. With busways and bus lanes, buses can be just as or more efficient, and the routes can be easily adjusted or changed.
Monorail are fun but will probably not be expanded. Disney apparently used a non standard gauge, and any equipment has to be custom.

My favorite way to get around Disney… walking. We stayed in Beach Club and walked to Epcot and made the decision (based on one of your videos) that walking to Hollywood Studios in the morning would be the fastest to get there. Why do you have to pay twice in one day for park hopping? I thought once you paid the fee - it covered all parking in all parks for that day. Also if you stay at a hotel where there is no charge for parking - you then only pay for parking the days you go to WDW. Seems to me a pretty good deal. Especially when hotel fees outside the park are way less expensive.

In my experience it did. We had reservations to beaches and cream from AOA. The walk for the little mermaid room to skyliner is like 15 mins. Then there was a long wait for the skyliner that day because epcot was about to open. A long wait again when we had to get off and transfer at Caribbean Beach resort to a new skyliner line. Then, a good 10-15 min walk from skyliner drop off to the restaurant. It took over an hour.

    • @dave_7235
      @dave_7235 2 ปีที่แล้ว

This is where car wins in _most_ situations. (and if you happen to ever need to go from resort to resort, it probably wins in ALL situations, since you have to transfer at a park or Disney Springs to get between 2 resorts).
If you are starting at MK, then the car option may not be best, and you do need to allow significant time for the car, since you need to get back to the TTC first via water, monorail, or the "new-ish" ;) walkway around the Seven Seas Lagoon.

  • @laurabradleymyers
    @laurabradleymyers 2 ปีที่แล้ว

For an extra $25 - $50 total - preferred parking is worth it to avoid the end of the day extra mile hike, & if you purchase preferred @ AK & hop to MK it’s preferred there too. Also - Another possible problem w rideshare is that women who travel alone may not be comfortable getting into vehicles with strangers.

One time we did have a driver who maybe was quite new or otherwise.... addled, and instead of getting from the park to our hotel in a timely fashion we ended up taking a long tour of the back side of one of the water parks and then eventually he pulled into a parking lot and called someone to help him get back on track. In March 2021, resort guests parked for free at the parks. Is that still the case? I think there is a resort parking fee but we were camping at Fort Wilderness so we didn't have that.
I wanted to love the ferry, but actually the ferry boat cast member was the rudest person I have ever encountered anywhere. She actually made me cry and I arrived at my first ever Magic Kingdom visit literally sobbing because of how poorly we were treated. It was a whole thing. I need to meet these nice ones Quincy is referencing because that was not my experience! I want a re-do!
We drove our own car to the park and loved it, except for MK. We park hopped and loved giving the kids a car nap and taking our time getting our stroller set up and all ready to go. I found the Disney transportation horrifically rushed and overwhelming. The parking lot walk does suck though.

  • @michecarter

Man oh man! I love the Skyliner, but I got burnt using it before. Bad weather and the Skyliner do not mix. We had to take the bus to another park to catch another bus to our resort. Mind you, we were packed to the brim in our stroller and had to take the contents out to break it down to take the bus. So, that's two modes of transportation and two reasons I do not like the Skyliner and Bus. Monorail and boat ALL THE WAY! We also drive to the parks we can't reach by boat or monorail.

I always have my car with me and I always use Disney transportation. I hate driving, I hate driving on Disney property, I like a refreshing adult beverage or two. I've used Uber exactly 4 times and all were when I had ADRs at a resort. We used one both ways to V&A's since my son was wearing a suit coat and tie and taking a bus from Dolphin to MK then the monorail to GF didn't make sense. Once when we finished dinner at CG after the buses had stopped running and once after dinner at the Riv because we were staying at the Dolphin and it the only option would have been the sky liner to a park then walk or boat. All dinners also involved a refreshing adult beverage or two so driving was not an option. We have driven to a park exactly 2 times. Both times it was early morning at AK and it was the morning of a resort move during a split stay and we knew we were leaving AK around noon or so. Of all the Disney transportation, I prefer either the buses or the boats.

@@ohboy2592 I also prefer the skyliner over monorail/bus because I know 100% that I’ll have a seat. While the monorail is a short few min drive to magic kingdom, the 20 min drive back to the resort is not after a long day at the park I don’t wanna stand the entire time on the bus. I will certainly miss the less crowded transportations that they had in 2020 and most of 2021.

If I’m going to Mickeys not so scary party and stay the whole time, do I have to book a ride share to get back to AKL? Or do the busses run for those at the party?

    • @charlesnye6193

Hi Hecate! Disney Resort buses must run while guests are still in theme parks, that us their policy, so they do run for the entire length of after hours parties. There will definitely be buses waiting to take you back to AKL. Speaking from experience it is so nice to sit on that air conditioned bus after you have been partying until 12 or 1! Have a magical vacation!

I have very bad knees and climbing on and off the bus stairs or standing in bus lines is not something I want to do. We rented a car for our upcoming trip. My husband is going to drop our kids and I as close as he can then park. Since Disney's Magical Express is gone (BOOO!!) and we need a way to get to Disney anyway, I have already reserved our car. We are staying on Disney property, so $15 / day for parking at the resort with no additional charge for theme park parking is fine with me. Plus, we are going on a Disney Cruise after Disney World, so we need a car to get to the port.

I thought you only had to pay for parking once per day, parking pass at one park was good at another if it was on the same day?

    • @eliseg0001

Correct, and if you pay for parking at a resort it’s good for standard parking at the parks. Allears corrected it in some comments!

You don’t need to pay to park at more than one park. You just need to show the gate attendant your receipt from the previous park.

Correction: Guest staying at a Disney resort do not have to pay for parking at theme park parking lots. DVC members don’t have to pay overnight parking at resorts but only when staying on points.

The best thing is the ferry boat to MK as the castle starts to peak over the trees and then it gets closer and closer. It’s my favorite part. I like to do MK as the fist park of our trip and seeing the castle. It’s so magical.
