I remembered watching the END of this infomercial and SO THANKFUL you uploaded this! I missed so much! EVEN THE KING OF CARTOONS WAS THERE!!! Omg this is fantastic! Thank you ❤
My mom always hated Pee-wee's playhouse, but me and my dad always loved the show because of how silly and goofy it was, I'm 25 now and I still love the show, glad my dad bought the entire set back in the day
Gosh, I remember recording this when they aired it on a random Sunday morning in the mid 90s. I ordered two tapes, but they never EVER arrived. I ended up seeing the set at the mall and bought the two tapes that made up Pee Wee's face on the VHS tape spins, and the Christmas special for around $14.99 each.
This informercial, giving off these weird Barney-like vibes, likely existed to restore the marketability of the Pee-Wee Herman character to family audiences five years after the controversy of late actor Paul Reubens down in Sarasota had long cooled off. Reruns returned to TV 2 years later when the newly-launched Fox Family cable network picked it up for a run in the late 90s.
Vividly remember seeing this informercial randomly on TV as a kid. The juxtaposition between the colorful weirdness of the Playhouse and the absolute blandness of the new material is incredibly jarring.

RIP not only to Paul Reubens, William Marshall, and John Paragon, but RIP to Eleanor Mondale, too.
I just missed him last time before pee wees playhouse

Wow. I didn’t know your mom was so cruel to Pee-Wee’s Playhouse show. That was rude of your mom to dislike that show.
