The brilliance of this game is it is EXACTLY like hunting vampires should be. Unless you know PRECISELY what you're doing, you're gonna have a bad time. Also the cast at the end makes me wish say, Zelda had a cast list at the end of it.

Same as Activision, pretty good until 1989, new CEO comes in and they turn to shit because he wasn't a gamer and only in it for the money.
I've beaten this game only once. The original Castlevania has good music and all, but the game itself is hard as heck. And, the Holy Water is a must against the bosses. But, the player who did this played really well. He mastered it.
While I absolutely appreciate the skill involved in this playthrough, I really wish the holy water wasn't exploited, and the bosses were actually "fought".

My cousins played this on the Famicom back in 1989 but man they never got far beyond the grim reaper stage which is every bit creeper. The only time I remember going as far as Dracula was in 91.

I love how the majority of us never actually got to see the endings of these classic NES games until the internet came about, and people more talented than us were able to play them in their entirety and make it look easy! 🤣

ole castlevania games. love this game. I sucked very badly on this game. I keep dying like level 3 because of the bats and the ghosts, I manage to beat this game. Man the last boss was hard took me like a thousand times to beat him.
It depends on the game. For me the hardest ones are this game, most of III Dracula's Curse and Rondo of Blood. I'm not sure about the post Symphony of the Night games because I haven't played them but it seems like the others in the classic series start off easy enough and progressively get harder.

They did downgrade it to the weakest item in Simon's Quest but yeah it's pretty much your best friend in this first one.
