[OC] Valses Oubliées No 1 'In C' (2021)

Alright, here we go.
This is my 'serious' (yes, it is literally a very serious one in concept and idea, perhaps) music composition. However, it comes out from my quirky jolly whimsical side.
I start this piece with 2 ideas from different places. First, the main theme comes from my improvisation as I want to relax a bit during my practice session. So, repeating brainless plain chords on the left hand, and running scales and repetitive patterns on the right hand. Second, I want to compose a piece of music that sounds like the player is struggling with a lot of memory slips throughout the piece. So, the patterns, scales, or motives are played several times as one tries to recall the next part.
And POOF here comes this piece.
So, after reading this, please make sure to listen through the entire piece again and think about how many times the pianist is getting lost throughout the piece. And I hope that you find it funny or humorous in some sense. Or maybe, I'm completely wrong with it. I'm bad at a joke, so it's fine if you don't find it funny.

the first time i heard it the section with the broken chords in the right hand and octaves in the left felt slightly off to me, but after reading the description I see how it fits in to what you intended. Very clever piece, literally is a "forgetting valse"

really fun piece, very obviously whimsical, almost uncomfortably humorous (probably a reflection of the memory slip thing). really enjoyed it!
