It's ok to pay for dinner and travel but never give them money when they ask to help with whatever. We will fall in love with you if we love you, not about the money. It was too early in the relationship for her to ask for that and only shows her ulterior motive. Huge red flag. This story is another example of someone who was too scared to lose the girl and let her walk all over him. Women lose respect for guys like this and would only hang around to get what they can then leave.
Tragic, I guess he blew about USD40k on this scammer if you add the airfares, hotels and B28k/monthly allowance he was sending. Probably extended his home loan and credit cards to raise the cash. I would have ghosted her when she was so late for the first meeting.
You are blindly in love, if you are lonely just get a companion with no commitment, you have learned your lesson, Keep you money for a good retirement. Sincere young girls are not easy to find .Dun stress yourself.

Just like if alcohol is required for the 2 of you to have fun, if money is required then it's not going to work... even if the other person isn't attempting to scam you. If the woman is upset and money fixes it, you don't want that relationship because she loves the money more than you. I can completely understand how rewarding it can be to throw money around and feel like a King, but it's not real. That advice works across the globe. If you can't have fun doing inexpensive things, move on.

would not trust em anymore..just for fun ok but not for life partners anymore...treat em good but they will take advantage most of the time. not sure why they behave tis way. And they unfortunately still pray a lot but most of the time ungrateful to the nice men around em. Just my point of view of whom i have met, All behave the same like they have been cloned or smthg. But anyway congrats to those that found a good thai lady..its not easy to find one good lady till tis day tho. Gave up & just enjoy my single life to the fullest. cheers.
Not sure why they behave this way? What do you think about born and living in a world of poverty? Their motivation for doing all this is only one thing: pure survival. I can’t blame them. No matter how you look at it. You have your drinks with the ladies. The conviviality. You pay relatively cheap money for it with your expensive Western currency. You spend a little more money for some bedroom fun in your hotel room. But you cannot deny that this is a form of abuse by Western men. Don't think that these ladies do this 100% voluntarily. It is purely driven by poverty. Ultimately, this is a two-way scam.

I'd be surprised if the ring and the dowry money hadn't already been pawned/spent by the time he asked for them back. Not that she would have given any of it back anyway, but chances are her parents took most of it and the rest she blew on shopping, partying, and the inevitable Thai boyfriend/husband that was always hidden in the background.
