Another interesting and entertaining video from Tony Roberts for Analog Toys.
And while there are plenty of good things to say about these new Hasbro Indiana Jones action figures, Tony does voice the concerns that most collectors will have with them.
It almost seems as though Hasbro have been half-hearted in releasing these Indiana figures, as they could have done so much better.
I’ve been waiting for a line like this since I got into 6 inch figures, loved Indy as a kid and these look really good so far. Can’t wait to see what other figures we’ll get across the films

I was over all pleased with this line. I won’t be building any dioramas for them, they’ll just be in my 6in section of my collection room, but I definitely see your point. I’m just happy they did justice finally to the line. It’s definitely a work in progress for them hopefully. Great video Tony!

The Ark should have come in a playset with a rocky alcove, some TV cameras, phantoms, and a pole to tie up Indy and Marion. Easily an under $50 item.

I do like this new wave, but my main issue is the size of the wave. It seems rly stingy for a wave to only have 5 figures, when with Marvel Legends and Ghostbusters Plasma Series it’s 6 or 7 figures a wave plus a build a figure. I also hope that like the ghostbusters plasma series, they release a 2 pack along with the wave that compliment the wave, with the raiders wave they could make a Cairo Indy and Cairo swordsman.
Other issues are just nitpicks, the main thing being the articulation and issues with the Indy figure. Like you said, they’ve never been able to capture Harrison Ford in plastic. Other things are the lack of gloved hands and my main nitpick is the fact that Indy’s hat isn’t removable, this seems like such an obvious thing to do because of the iconography of Indy grabbing his hat out from under the closing door. I don’t know for sure that his hat isn’t removable, but in the figure description it mentions “removable whip” but not a removable hat. And with the toht figure, they do mention he has a “removable hat”. It seems they’re only making tohts hat removable because they have to for the alternate head
This line will never hold a flame to the vintage Kenner and the Crystal Skull Hasbro 3.75 line with all the amazing play sets and vehicles. Was just gonna get Indy but they all look great.
I have a feeling this line will be like the Ghostbusters line. A few waves only. Still don’t know how Hasbro did a Ghostbusters line without a Slimer figure or any other ghost figures.
Indiana Jones is in my top ten movies. I'm glad that they are releasing this figure set.
I'm glad they're doing a Retro line of the 3.75 inch Kenner Raiders line as well. I never owned the regular Indy figure.
I'm also a huge Indy fan. I had the line as a kid. I have a few figures from the 2008 line. I don't collect 6 inch figures but this will be an exception. I'm nervous because, at this very moment, the Indy preoders haven't sold out. Without the Cairo Swords man and German soldiers, Marion and ceremonial Belloq will peg warm. And, as you know, the Indy line always gets canceled when it starts getting good. Temple of Doom has the best character selection from all of the movies and its at that moment when the line gets canceled. I was so bummed in 2008 when those figures saw limited release. I'm not sure if you watched the stream, but they also said they would be expanding the retro line to include figures Kenner never made so you may still might have an interest in the retro line. I hope this 6 inch line doesn't get canceled before all of the good characters from the first three movies are made.
The thing that caught me was besides Toht, These are scaled up versions of the figures we got in the 3 & 3/4 line for Raiders when Crystal Skull came out. Same outfits, same Everything. I seriously had a flashback when these were announced. I was hoping for a different Belloc at least, Nope, ceremonial again. Marion with dress or bar, Nope, Streets of Cairo again.
Hopefully, and from a marketing perspective, they will give us tons of variations of these characters.
I'm really excited for this line! It's so hard to find quality Indy action figures! I am slightly disappointed about the lack of a mid-torso articulation, but that's not going to stop me from collecting them. My guess is that each wave will have a different version of Indiana Jones, i.e. streets of Cairo, Arabian disguise, Professor, Temple of Doom one-sleeve-ripped-off, etc. If it's successful enough, I imagine we'll also start seeing alternate looks for the other characters as well.

I think the fact that the costumes chosen don't allow a single accurate scene-sharing display is intentional. That's Hasbro's way of generating a need for variant characters, which they will be happy to supply going forward (with as many repaints as possible).
I think it shows now lazy they are. They do this across nearly all their toy lines. And rarely do they ever get around to finishing anything. You want a marvel legends complete superhedo team? Just wait a decade from the first to last for a five member team. Its garbage.

I suspect we'll get every variant of Indy. Hasbro LOVES their repaints.
Fair point on the scene continuity/cohesion. 6 inch figs at 25 bucks aren't for kids to play with realistically. They're for adult collectors who will either leave em boxed, stand em on a shelf like a model or try pose them in some sort of scene / diorama. I presume though that if these do well we'll see multiple different indy figs that start to address the concern.
Without any of the characters really going together for a scene and no environments to put them in you really hit a cord with me when you said they are basically just 6 inch statues. The release being spread out seems very odd, too. Like they have zero confidence in the line before it even launches.
Wave 2 should be Fez Sallah, Cairo Belloq, Swordsman, Bald Nazi Mechanic and Marion Ravenwood with interchangeable lower body for use inside the basket. The build an artifact pieces could be additions for the ark like sand, angel ghosts, demon ghosts and fire.
I've been waiting for a 6 inch indiana jones for along time. Other than the jacket look from raiders, I'm looking forward to an indy from temple of doom where his sleeve is ripped. That figure will look cool. I'll also get the version of indy from last crusade where he wears a tie for some reason (I guess he wanted to look respectable in front of his father).
These figures are going to be peg warmers just like the figures from the past. Ill get them on clearance.
Black Series also had a lot of accessories and were fairly cheap at the time it started, but that soon changed.

That was very surprising news Hasbro is making 6 inch scale Indiana Jones figures.
So far the figures look awesome. Like mentioned, the number of accessories is great and the price is great. Plus it’s guaranteed with Hasbro that parts will be reused and we’ll get multiple outfits for Indy himself and maybe some others. If this lines anything like Black Series I’m excited to see sequel outfits and characters in the upcoming year.

Loads of fair points made - guessing they're going for the iconic looks of each character. Giving us, as you say, pretty much display pieces. Guessing the well of souls or truck may be a haslab project?
I would like to see a German Soldier figure. Current climate aside, it would be nice to have an army builder figure from this line. Chances are they'll build out the Cairo act with future figures, probably with the Swordsman and a screen accurate Indy with pistol to recreate that famous scene. Add on that thief who sets up Indy and Marion and you'll have the all the figures from the Kenner line that made up that act upscaled to 6 inches. If they're looking to upscale the whole Kenner line, they'll throw in the German mechanic and Indy in German disguise. That might just be done as an afterthought but anything is possible.
I'm cautiously optimistic with this line. Even though growing up with Indy I never had the vintage figures and am looking forward to putting them with my Legends, Joes and Action Force. I already know Toth; and if we ever get any German soldiers, will be background flunkies for Red Skull!
I hope they also do a 3¾ line with vehicles, but that's a bit much for Hasbro

VERY tempting, but not enough to lift my ban on buying Hasbro anything. If they were a $20 price point I'd be in for the full run. And I didn't even think about the outfits not blending together - a very good point.

Great vid! The cool part about the retro Indiana Jones Hasbro is the different characters they will make. You will be able to add to the Kenner range of figures with Hasbro retro.
I do toy photography and about 1/3 of my pics are indiana jones based, so a 6" figure would be welcome. These figures look exactly like the 3.75" figures only scaled up. Doesn't take advantage of more modern body bucks. A mezco style 1/12 figure would be ideal but it would be $90 not $25. Great vid. Keep up the fight.
Excellent review. Like yourself I am mostly a loose figure collector. Which is why at the price point of today's figures I really wish companies would offer "loose" figures for purchase in store or on line. With this line moving forward we need to get a Mola Ram for sure.
I want Belloq with his jungle suit and wearing the suit with the mp38.
If there's one thing I have faith in with Hasbro, it's that we will see many variant re-issues of the Indy figure. If we don't get gloves, I owe you $5.
Glad you liked...somethihg....but 'scene cohesiveness' isn't a priority from a 6" line in any event, and especially not at wave one....those critiques are spurious at best. I totally agree with the gloves, though. Easy thing to add.

Another great video Tony, these figures interest me but apart from the indy figure I'm getting peg warmer vibes, would've liked to see a German soldier in there as well. Apparently hasbro are also bringing out a "retro" indy figure so will have to try and get one of those.
They mentioned they have 25 figures in the line including exclusives, so expect some different Indy variations and maybe some generic soldiers?
I feel like we will see different versions of Indiana Jones once the line really starts going kind of like how when Black Series started we had a basic ANH Han Solo but later only they expanded to different versions

I have to say, I was happy to get a vintage Indie reissue.
I suspect the whole wave will be out around the same time, they just want to use preorder numbers for the two figures to try and gauge how many to make for the other three. We've also seen Black Series and Legends waves staggered a bit in the last year or so. The latest X-Men wave for example, Wolverine and Siryn came out ahead of the rest.
Mezco would do a fantastic job on Indiana Jones.
I mostly don't mind that the toys aren't completely accurate to specific scenes in the movie. I personally prefer them fitting an iconic look, and my imagination can smooth over any rough edges. My main exception would be Belloq, who spent most of the movie in a suit and only a small amount of time in ceremonial robe. Even though it's not what happened in the movie, imagining him opening the Ark with his normal suit would be an easier pill to swallow than imagining him walking around Cairo in his ceremonial garb.
Which is not to say that there's anything wrong with getting the details right; I just doubt that most casual fans would care. Also, as Retroblasting's video has shown, Hasbro never getting all the details correct seems to be their M.O. Perhaps it's intentional to create an unadvertised build-a-figure. =/

I'm intrigued to see where this line goes hopefully we get a few versions of each character however with Hasbro also showing a retro style Indy and a prop set of the staff it may be all over the place.
Ik as you said it could be controversial I'd still like if the did a soldier and just didnt do the decals or such just so we can get some sort of army builder to give Indy bad guys he can beat down or pose up doing a daring escape from mass amounts of enemies plus I'd absolutely love the NO TICKET Indy to eventually make it in
I am not as picky as some when it comes to figures. So gloves or no gloves would not have mattered to me. But, I can see how and why some collectors want that level of accuracy in a figure. It would be better if the figures were more movie accurate. I do believe that Hasbro knows this and wants people to buy more figures. They will sell several figures that are "almost correct" in the hopes that collectors will buy them all to create a definitive figure.
Think about it this way: let's say that Hasbro releases the perfect Indiana Jones figure in the first run. Then all other releases would either have the same figure or there would be no further Indiana Jones figures released. By releasing several "almost right" figures, they believe they can sell more. Collectors will buy them all to make their own perfect figure.

Good video as always Tony. The night before i saw your selfie video, I had one too many GNTs and preordered Venger and Dungeon Master two pack from the Dungeon and Dragon Cartoon toys from Hasbro. Of course the box is all cardboard. Maybe I should have waited till you or RB did a video on it to get an opinion. They are six inch scale. Thoughts?
Definitely going to grab Indy (probably pre-order even) just to go with my iconic heroes collection, but the rest can wait to see if they cone out with variants of Indy to interact with. Most of the supporting cast just doesn't make for an exciting display piece without Indy or vehicles to interact with.

I'm really considering the Indy figure to convert it into a generic 40s adventurer. However, I think the head sculpt of the Marion figure doesn't resemble Karen Allen's likeness very well. Too bad.
I have to say I think Indy is the best looking one. Sallah looks a little small. I wish the articulation was better: pinless double jointed knees, elbows with bicep swivel. Hopefully a ball joint at the base of the neck and a dumbell joint from neck to head.
They probably chose these outfits thinking they were more interesting.
They should definitely do some ordinary German troops. Obviously I understand if they don't do SS.
I reckon they have ball jointed waists. If like Black Series then they'll be limited forward and back movement. More of a waist swivel.

Now is the time for Hasbro to release Belloq in his suit, Monkeyman, Indy in turban disguise, Satipo, Colonel Herman Dietrich, Indy without his jacket, Marion in white dress. Katanga. I doubt Hasbro will bother in the years to come to make these . With a movie coming in 2023 its time now to do them justice....

Couldn't that just be 5 figures for each movie (if you include the upcoming film)? We might not get any more figures for Raiders of the Lost Ark, unless the line is a hit.
It would have been so much better if a smaller toy maker, like Valaverse, would really love an Indiana Jones line into existence. Big corporations just will never get details right… cause at the end of the day, they just don’t care.
Everyone got paid to stay home for two years and cashed those checks. Now the piper has come and everyone’s complaining that everything costs more. If the toy companies cut back on the articulation, “fans” complain. If the toy companies would have added torso, mid-thigh and feet articulation and gloved hands and the price was $34, everyone would have complained. This is why I steer clear of most fans and collectors in general and just enjoy this hobby on my own. We’re getting figures that we could have only dreamed of as kids, and all I hear is whining. Out!
I got the Indi on the white horse set, the german army car, some Russian soldiers, south american warriors, snake pit set and temple of Akator. I wanna diy the Ark of the Covennent (still figuring that one out how to do it).
These look cool, but you've nailed with Hasbro's lack of vision in the choice of figures, costumes and accessories. Good to see you expanded your 6" SW
Personally i find that double-jointed figures alters the perception on any figure so much that it doesn't look "human" any more. Just my thought. For example, if you look at the silouette for an GI Joe arah 3.75 scale and compare to the sillouette with a modern figure with double joints u will know what i mean. 🙂
Not releasing a troop builder (German soldier) at launch was a mistake imo.
I can already see, from the figure choices here, that Hasbro is going to relive the same mistakes from the KOTCS era, and the line is going to peter out like it did last time before they get into any figures that haven't been made. For example, it's ridiculous that we didn't get a "fez" Sallah right off the bat - NEVER had one. I'm very excited about these, but deep down, knowing the marketing, seeing these first wave choices, and waiting for Hasbro's next "kids don't want to play with 'old man' figures" excuse, I expect this line to wrap up actually to a lesser extent than what we got during the KOTCS era.

Great vid! I'm guessing the 25 figs means five from each film. I hope I'm wrong, as there's only three films, but... I just hope they expand past the planned 25.
I personally thought that the Hasbro pulse thing this past weekend was kind of a joke. I was looking at the classifieds and they sold out of serpentor, big surprise there, the Crimson bat and covergirl. So on Sunday I went over to bbts and found everything I wanted right away. The serpentor was pretty cool looking I have to admit but I thought it was just a little overpriced. I would have figured around a 50 or $60 price range would have been better than $80 myself. As for the price point of those Indiana Jones and all the other figures they're coming out with I really hope they don't start going past price point that valiverse figures are. Otherwise Hasbro's just going to start pricing me and I feel a lot of other people out of the game
