Manjiri Asnare Kelkar: Raag Khat

As the first featured artiste at the FEA-curated The Diwali Concert Series 2016, Manjiri Asnare Kelkar began her second set of the morning with Raag Khat. She was accompanied by Utpal Dutt on tabla and Ajay Joglekar on harmonium. Tanpura and supporting vocals were by Devashree Nawghare.

I am wonderstruck by the command and creativity of Vidushi Manjiri Ji, I have heard this bandish thousand times from Pt K G Ginde, Pt Mallikarjun Mansur and I always prefer listening to these old maestros but this voice captivated me. In this fast pacing world in which they say artistes have less time to prepare and they are in hurry perform and audience too are eager to force them to sing in fast tempo ...this artiste sings in slow graceful style....100 marks to First Edition Arts Channel

Surashree Kesarbai has the final word on Khat. But Vidushi Asnare has sung very well. Her voice has some similarity with the past master and she sings full-throated like Maliniji. A listener's delight.
