Yepyepyepyep! I had it on tape and watched it over and over. I prefer Labyrinth to Dark Crystal... and I think of The Neverending Story in the same category. :)
Something today triggered the memory of this movie. I'm 28 years old, and I have no idea how young i was when I saw this. It was decades ago. It's amazing the lasting affect something from your childhood can have. Glad to share this nostalgic experience with everyone here. Thanks for posting!
This movie is so deeply nostalgic to me, watching a bunt copy of it at my grandparent's place, on the floor having a sleepover with my cousins. It may be older than I am, but it's shaped and influenced me so much, especially with how I'm worldbuilding for my book, mixing the wonder of fantasy, with the grounding of rational and logical explanations
OMG!!! sittin here grinnin now :D used to LOVE this when i was about 5. i been trying to find it for over 20 years now and have FINALLY found the right movie :D aww memories cuddled up with my mum watchin this, lol
40 years for me trying to find this film. I had gauzy memories as a child of the ending, a man and woman reunite after their fantastical adventure as the shopkeeper comments on young people’s trinkets these days, that was the only snippet in my mind I had to go on. thank you ever so much, you don’t know what this means to me, a lifetime of thanks!
This is one of my favorite movies, it's what got me into fantasy and science. I would love to see this remade in live action, or another animated adaptation. Thanks for making this trailer, it's a lot of fun to watch.
Jon Bilgutay NO please don't remake it they would clearly fuck up a live action like they did He-man and a new one will be too modern and retarded, I like this one as i is
heard about this movie, decided to look up the trailer, waited through the universal studios intro, only to be immediately whiplashed by Colonel Potter's voice in my headphones.
OMG I look for that cartoon for almost 5 years, i had it in the back of my head, remembering when i was a kid watching it on tv but i was never able to put a name on it thank you!!!
I have not seen this cartoon for 18 years.. and I thought that I will never find out the name of this epic, epic, epic cartoon I was watching when I was so young that I could barely comperhand what is going on. Thank you.. whoever you are. Thank you.
I had seen this movie back when I was still aging in the single digits. I only saw it once, and never knew the name of it, but I never forgot. Now, I finally have a name to the memory. 5 years ago, I would have suggested that they remake this movie for new generations to enjoy. These days I know better than to ask for such a thing, as very rarely do any truly good movies ever become reality now. Thank you for posting this video so I could find it.
I watched this movie when I was a kid, always remembered it. Searched and searched....and now iv found it, Thanks for uploading this, I will go relive memories now. Thanks
Hehe! I used to love this movie--I should really re-watch it. Wolves are on the side of good in the ElfQuest comics, too. But if you want a wolf hero, watch _Arashi no Yoru ni_ (One Stormy Night)... and then read the fan sequel I'm reading to it, _Beyond the Storm._ =)
i watched this as a kid a few times. when i first saw it i decided it was one of the best things i had ever seen, and i only managed to catch it on TV a couple more times. i forgot this ever existed... awesome. kind of want to track this movie down now
I watched this as a child can't remember much but I loved it been years trying to find this now... I've found it!!!! It's like digging for a diamond :3
im 18 and have searched for this movie several times over the last few years, never being able to remember the name, the joy i felt when i finally found this and found out theres dvds for sale was unreal, i remember watching this as a kid on vhs and being scared of the dragons, cant wait to buy the dvd and rewatch this.
Thank you whom ever upload this... the most epic of epic movie cartoons ever. I was merely a kid when I saw the movie, thank you for making it possible for me to encounter it again!
Watching this trailer was a great reminder of how wonderful this film was. I remember taping it off the tv years ago and watching it iwith my mum more times that my dad could put up with, magic film, never forget the dragons!
There was actually a plan to remake this, but the plan was scrapped. I always told myself, if I ever became rich I would pay to have this remade in live action.
Still one of my favorite movies of all time, even though its as old as I am. I still have this on VHS that I take great care of. It still works great. I actually wanted a tatoo of Bryaugh. Great film that doesn't get enough respect or love.
Fantastic movie. It's been a long time but it still holds up really well. Can't say that for a lot of other 1980's animated movies. I will most surely be watching again soon!
I think I still have this on VHS from when my parents recorded it on TV. I think my dad recorded it for himself because I would have only been one year old at the time. Totally epic! I actually read "The Dragon and the George" and the rest of the "Dragon Knight" books about a decade later and when I watched this movie again I realized that 80% of it was taken directly from that first book.
I was going through Netflix, looking for old movies from my childhood when I thought of this one... I didn't know the title at the time, so, I Googled 'animated movies with wizards and dragons'... this was the first result on the search page. I'm so glad to have found it! I just wish Netflix had it to watch instantly...
I watched this movie for the first time when I was 7 years old. I watch it again 18 years later but during all this time I was seaking everywhere to find it and I bought it. IT'S THE BEST CARTOON MOVIE EVERRR! Universal should do the action movie like Lord of the ring kind of. For mature.
I loved this movie as a kid....iv been looking for it for 20 years.....but had nothing to go on because I was si little when I saw it...I remembered bits but not enough to do a search except "animation abt dragons "
My sister and I grew up with this movie (and The Last Unicorn, The Hobbit, The Return of the King, The Wizard of Oz, and Annie); we used to pretend that Gorebash and Smurgal lived in our backyard
I too did not know what this was called, but yet remember it off by heart, and the moment I saw those bloated dragons, I new what this was. Don't you just love the evil dragon, I remember I had a toy of it when I was merely a toddler.
Wow, I remember watching this movie so much when I was little. Nostalgia! I can't believe I almost forgot this film existed. Thanks for posting this. C:
The 80s had a certain style of animation for their fantasy movies. a style that I would have liked to see a return of, as they have a certain timeless charm behind them.

anyone know a good site where i can see the whole movie? i saw it as a kid and want to see it again. The only problem is youtube doesn't have the whole movie and Netflix hasn't even heard of it.
Not sure if anyone will be able to help, but there was an animated movie about a guy with a pumpkin head. I think there were witches in it and the pumpkin got smashed in the end. Started off with an old guy telling the story to his grandkids, one of whom indicated a jack-o-lantern on their window sill. Anyone know what that is?
I'm an 80s baby in a 90s kid so I must have been about 4 or 5 when I saw this the first time. I remember this and the movie The Last Unicorn very vaguely but I would love to watch both movies again and full as an adult. I also remember a movie or maybe it was a TV show called Cities of Gold does anybody else remember that?
@BankaiIchigo12345 The theme of the movie is the relationship between science and magic: whether it is one of conflict, or co-existence. The context of the nuke vis-a-vis dragons will be understandable once you watch the movie.

Absolutely amazing!!! I love how you emphasized the roles of science and magic in the trailer. It seems I am not the only one who wishes for a live-action version. As was pointed out by one poster, with the right director, it would be epic!
I LOVED this movie as a kid along with The Last Unicorn, The hobbit, The Secret of NIMH, Dark Crystal
I saw the DARK CRYSTAL in theater 10 months ago.
Yepyepyepyep! I had it on tape and watched it over and over. I prefer Labyrinth to Dark Crystal... and I think of The Neverending Story in the same category. :)
Thanks for reminding me about these movies
Carla Mazzella we are like sisters! That was my house too.

"O Susana" does it for me
Came out in 1982. Imo the best animated film of all time.
It was the Dragons
Dang, you are 40 years old now. Hopefully it still hit the same.

It may be older than I am, but it's shaped and influenced me so much, especially with how I'm worldbuilding for my book, mixing the wonder of fantasy, with the grounding of rational and logical explanations
This was from a time where stories actually meant something, and acting, even doing voices, was an art!
There were some bad stories and movies back then and there are some good stories and movies now. It's not black and white.
James Earl Jones is wonderfully over the top in this movie. I taped it off ABC back in the 80's & must have rewatched it at least a dozen times.
OMG!!! sittin here grinnin now :D used to LOVE this when i was about 5. i been trying to find it for over 20 years now and have FINALLY found the right movie :D aww memories cuddled up with my mum watchin this, lol
I totally understand you're feelings. My dad had it on vhs when I was born. Saw it when I was around 4 or 5.
