    In the UK when you reach 100 years old you get a letter from King Charles.
    When you get to 13 you get a text from Prince Andrew !

    Here in Brazil, the monarchy was overthrown more than 130 years ago. Last King Dom Pedro II was an intelligent, cultured man who, during his 58 years of reign, represented the country's moral values and the best Portuguese heritage. Since then we've had a succession of corrupt, immoral presidents, with rare exceptions. Today I feel that it would be better to have a head of state with ceremonial functions that represent the permanent values of the country, far removed from the meanness that involves the daily political struggle.

    • @gmailvfone
      @gmailvfone ปีที่แล้ว +3

      👌 Excellent point you make here, especially where permanent values is concerned. That's what a Monarchy is duty and honour bound to protect over any number of leaders a country may have during the Monarch's reign. Either what we have now or another elected politician, and I can't think of one who has acted to serve the country and not themselves. I do think that Charles cares about the country, and acts to represent in its best interest. Regarding the Crown Estate, the value of that exceeds the Civil List payments and the income they generate through tourism and trade. On balance, I believe they are a positive influence and benefit to the UK. But I respect those who disagree of course.

      @@LawrenceReitan it does effect australia mate. One example is that There are large swaths of land in australia called “queens lands” (now kings) which means it is not owned by Australians but by your monarchy. My mother loved the monarchy and the queen ,but I do not want a head of state from England controlling our country and policies and recieving our hard earned tax money. We want independence from you English. It would be more beneficial and ethical as we recieve nothing from England except to be dragged into wars and conflicts of englands choice. We gain nothing from having your monarchy control our country. It’s that simple. Dismantling your monarchy would only positively affect australia as we don’t need you. We have allies like the US which is the dominant power of the world. England is no longer one of the superpowers so how would paying taxes to your monarchy benefit us? It’s only a bad mistake for yous if we choose independence from the monarchy. One example is America. Look how they flourished when they became independent.. your argument is skewed to best suite your narrative. Australia would be much better off without you tbh. I can assure you that not many under the age of 50 in australia cares about the English monarchy. I mean no offence but it’s my honest opinion.

    • @shelleyphilcox4743

      @Lilian No, the link with an empire is completely in your own mind. The point of a constitutional monarchy is to provide non party political national leadership and public service, and a soft diplomatic role on behalf of the people and their elected government. It is useful to have non political leaders with long term experience of soft diplomacy. The monarchy also represents 1000 years of history with empire being a part of that story and the lessons learned from that experience...and you should note, that the UK has opted out of the EU, which is an empire, forged through trade, economic and political influence as a merged entity of many countries, ever expanding, and using its collective might against smaller and weaker economies to it's own benefit. The EUs expansion, centralisation, ever growing list of competences based on QMV and not veto, and aspiration to create a collective military to act on the world stage should really give you a clue that it is the entity hung up on recreating empires previously held by other european nations.
      It might also serve you well to cast your eye to France and its empire and its deep economic ties and political and economic influence through the Central and West African franc in African states before speculating on whether it's the UK that has these issues, or France, regardless of whether there is a monarchy or not.

Because these are the part of the history, the heritage of humanity. Look what happened to Pyramids - humanity forgot who made them and for what purpose? Are we not giving funds to researchers to find that.
    And British Monarchy is a living heritage of this country. In Coronation, we saw thousands of years of old things and processes. It was spectacular.
