- Throughout Talladega's history, there have been many heart-stopping crashes. In this compilation, I did my best to put together a list of some of the worst in history. I most likely left out a few big ones, so let me know which ones you would have wanted to see included. None of the crashes in this video were fatal. Thanks for watching and I will see you all next time!

5:02 - Perfectly timed "Ruh-roh!"
I appreciate you having a "Worst of NASCAR" crash compilation be mostly incidents that are actually more than ten years old.
That was a more exciting time of racing.
1997 Fall Talladega is an underrated Big One. No flips, but a LOT of cars got taken out.
The 2002 NASCAR Busch Series race at Talladega featuring the most destructive Big One ever. I call that "The Huge One".
actually, second most destructive, you forgot 1960 modified-sportsman at daytona
These are just races at dega
I was going to rate Perkins flip as the worst flip of 2023...
Until Ryan Preece's at Daytona
I think Danny Bagwell’s was worse. That happened in 1999 in Daytona.
@@susanwahl6322 we still don't know how that car started flipping.
We know the end of it but not the full incident
Plus I also said "flips in 2023"
I was at the Daytona race when Ryan flipped!!
Babe wake up, NR62 just posted
I know I’m ruining a joke but this thing came out at 7:50
There’s no reason that no reason why she couldn’t be a shift worker.
A whole lot of carnage at Talladega
The real scary crashes aren't the ones where the cars tumble and fly apart, because that is the energy of the impact being absorbed and dissipated by the car. The real scary ones are where the cars hit a wall hard and come to a quick stop, because that energy is going through the driver
So, so true..That sudden stop is the absolute worst.
1:15 Stanley Smith in car #49 sustained a basilar skull fracture due to this accident. He is one of 3 drivers to have survived a basilar skull fracture (the others are Ernie Irvan and Rick Carelli)
Which one is #49? I couldn’t see them
If only a far more iconic name could be added to that list...
@@acedelta12 like Dale Earnhardt
@@SIMCOMotorsportsTV The very same.
@@SIMCOMotorsportsTV Or Adam Petty, or Kenny Irwin Jr, or Tony Roper.
Quoting Mike Joy: “Talladega: World’s Fastest Junkyard.”
Should've added Mark Martin's wreck in 1994 when he didn't have any brakes and hit the guardrail head on.
Yup, should've been on here
He said he hurt is cod with the crotch strap on that one.
1:07 so crazy that the car going over the wall wasn’t the worst part of the wreck
The 80s and 90s were the days when flip crashes would send you to the hospital even put you in a coma. Nowadays these flips can let you get out of your car easily. My how time flew in protection after Earnhardt died.
1:19 And that's why we have the catch fences
Lol
I forgot his name but the one guy in that crash actually got really messed up almost died
@SgtRyansPrivates The guy you're talking about suffered From the same injury Earnhardt died from. A basilar skull fracture. Its a miracle the guy survived.
@@SgtRyansPrivates 49 car?
@@SgtRyansPrivatesthat would be stanley smith
1:19. We were all concerned for Jimmy Horton. None of us realized the extent of Stanley Smith’s injuries until the following week when Kyle Petty requested prayer for him in a post race interview.
On a side note, hey Clint Bowyer. Take a listen to the likes of Bob Jenkins, Ned Jarrett, Benny Parsons and Jerry Punch. Notice how the don’t run their mouths non stop? Try it sometime.
great video as always!
I have been to 2 Dega Races. Never got to see the big one but the two i went too was Historical Races. Dale Sr's last win in 2000, and Bobby Hamilton's last win in 2001. I was also at Rusty Wallace last win at Martinsville. I had a thing about going to last win racee i guess lol
worst crashes of the last 20 years only.
Yes what about Bobby Allison's crash
The most dangerous track on the NASCAR circuit.
Sorry to say, but that distinction belongs to Daytona, based on the number of fatalities that occurred there...
Not a brag, just a statement of fact...
@@codymoe4986 Daytona has more driver fatalities, yes. Daytona has also been around 10 years longer than Talladega.
I’ve been watching NASCAR for 35 years. I stand by my original statement, Talladega is the most dangerous track.
I also put Watkins Glen up there but they have made that track a lot safer recently. They have had some of the worst crashes there. Rip JD Mcduffie
@@godisgood1359pocono has injured and ended more careers than anywhere and particularly the “tunnel tun” and even mentioned in days of thunder albeit at the wrong track and and out context. Not to mention you’re going over 200 into turn one and have to make a he’d left so if anything breaks you’re going straight in the wall, and yes Watkins glen was a bad one before safety innovations and still is.
Nascar created the problems at Daytona and Talladega with restrictor plates and the yellow line rule is also ridiculous.
Did anyone else notice that guy standing on the grass next to the track? Wow, safety’s gotten so much better that not only are the drivers are being kept from killed but so are others.
I think that part is elevated.
timestamp?
Thank God
Let's hope we don't see any of those this weekend as well as no weather channel screw up like Daytona early in the season.🤔🤔🤔😔
Wellll, Erik Jones got a compression Fracture and then we had somone ride the wall on the last lap
Can you make one of these but Daytona or Atlanta?
2:16 That's the crash that should have taken Earnhardt. Compared to the Daytona crash, Daytona looked like a little fender bender.
He wasn't buckled in like he was supposed to be because he didn't like the way it felt. All it took was for him to hit wrong and it's bad news. RIP
I wonder how many fans had to change their underware that was sitting there when Bobby Allison tore the fence down? My Gosh, i bet that was so terrifying for them seeing a car headed right towards them. Carl Edwards wreck also
And Bonnet's wreck in 93
Another great video 📸😊
The commentator dudes are so funny.
Ken Squire.... the voice of the best days of NASCAR
Congratulations great video very good🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤
@2:22 that is a horrible Wreck and Dale survives that, then he dies on an incident later on that kills him.
I love Talladega, I love racing, but I hate the BIG one that drivers cause for many years. I wish it was preventable.
When I was in basic training, I told this joke to my fellow recruits…Did you hear about some good old boys from Birmingham who went down to Talladega? They saw a sign that said, Talladaga left, so they turned around and went back home. Everyone laughed until we turned around and saw our drill sergeant who was from Birmingham…. I swear I did enough pushups to sent Alabama to South America.
I can't recall which driver said it, but he said that "some guys just don't like to drive at 200 miles an hour."
The opening wreck was used as a pattern for Lightning McQueen's season ending wreck in "Cars 3".
If you do a part 2 of this for the next Dega race, check out Chris Cockrum's Xfinity crash where he hits the inside wall and spins like a top.
Definitely lots of crashes at a long racetrack!
I still remember the year of drivers being angry at each other after bumping and crashing. The boss of NASCAR said, "For the rest of this season, I'm going to just let you race ."
4:32 The Kings crash at the end of cars looks exactly similar to it
I think that's what they based it off of
The only reason to watch Nascar, the crashes. Awesome
The Rusty barrel roll is still so crazy.
My parents have pictures of the Ken Schrader 25 car that flipped at Talladega from when they went to the Hendrick Museum
10:30 I believe that "merge" won LePage the "Dumbest Move in NASCAR History"...or perhaps he shared it with his spotter?
The 2005 wreck we was watching at the hospital as my mom was having my sister she pushed her out right as the wreck happens no line
This is pretty thorough, Elliot Sadler made the cut
Do these guys undergo any "crash training"? For example, if you're in a pileup, but can still drive, are you told to go to the infield ASAP to get off the raceway? And if they're involved in a pit maneuver, is there anything the driver can do to reduce his speed and try to get out of the situation?
I'm wearing my Jimmy Horton modified shirt right now, he still races!
Was there for the Craven crash !
That wing they put on was one of the dumbest ideas ever.
I am still halfway watching the video, but i hooe you have the 1991 Big one when Kyle Petty broke his leg cause it was one of Dega's Worst wreck ever
There was a rumor that the track was cursed.
Yup, theres 3 different stories that mention a curse, the first one was the track was built on what was once an indian burial ground, another says that the tribe held horse races in the valley where the track currently resides where a chief was killed when he was thrown from his horse, the final story was that when the Native American tribe were thrown out by the forces of andrew jackson, a shaman put a curse on the valley
How did Dale Sr not die from that crash at 2:14?
It's almost like trying to get cars to fly
I was at the one Ricky Craven wreaked at.
Seen them all 🏴☠️
200 MPH inches from each other what could go wrong.
Ricky Craven's wreck was unbealevable! Thank God he wasn't seriously Hurt!
speed thrills!
8:23 I was there for that one!
Restrictor Plate Racing 😮
tone bone burroughs posted so 🥰
Help..! I'm on fire 🔥 Help me Tom Cruise..! 😅
Who went over the wall??? I know that Stanley got a basilar from that wreck, but I can’t for the life of me remember who took that tumble down into the dirt.
Jimmy Horton of NJ #32
What do you expect from hot heads with a fast car! Road rage on the track!
A bunch of last lap stupid wrecks. Whoever causes a wreck on the last lap or is involved in the last lap wreak. Should automatically go to the rear. This rule would make a good clean finish the most important thing instead of I'll just crash you and win the race. Over aggressive driving isn't good anywhere.
Drive, allput.
Yeah, restrictor plates are safer.🙄
Very simlar to Earnhardt
Newman seems to wreck a lot
He Flipped A LOT at Daytona and Dega! You know he doesn't miss those two tracks lol
The word “trouble” is used [ten] times in this compilation
4:33 Dinico's All mine
To win at a race, you have to finish the race. Just sayin
The worst crash wasn't on the track.
Crash, they a not, triying
Driving school says tailgating is dumb. NASCAR says tailgating is entertainment. Great for everyone except the drivers. Restrictor plate racing is the dumbest idea ever. It’s like driving in LA traffic at 200 mph

Always make sure that nobody can get out and run with no help
Keep them dependent on teammates on other drivers for a draft effect to keep it more exciting for audiences
What a joke ass clowns nascar was great at one time before all the restrictions and nascars BS rules
Turn em up and let the best team win get the audience back and if it’s a team that isn’t doing anything obvious ! And have figured out how too squeeze out another 10 mph than the rest ,then he’s the winner that day
Get rid of restrictor plates and let’s go back to racing

The driver that got airborne and flipped was Rusty Wallace, older brother of Kenny Wallace and Mike Wallace.
