This is a speaker battle and today we are doing the jbl boombox 3 vs the jbl encore, what sounds the best and does the best for your needs don't forget to like and subscribe fam 💜
If you listen to the recording on quality speakers or headphones you definitely notice notice cleaner bass (until about 80% vol.) and better upper mids on the boombox since it has more units than the encore so you get what you pay for on both of these speakers but I haven't yet heard any of them irl so I don't know if the difference is as apparent. As far as I'm concerned the boombox is more suited towards carrying it around wherever you go and the encore is more for an indoor party type of situation. Though I enjoy clean sound I also couldn't live without proper bass, also the encore is much much cheaper where I'm from (2x cheaper to be exact) so I would consider buying the encore instead of the boombox.
The jbl boombox 3 goes deeper than the jbl encore, its just that the encore has more quantity of bass, but not deepness. Thats why the bass of the jbl encore seems louder.
I agree 100 percent with you on that, it's basically the difference between porting your speaker or using passive radiators, I prefer the passive radiators it's tight and clean

The encore gives you the impression of more bass especially in the drum and kick kinda party bass, I love the deep and controlled clean bass the boombox gives me, both are really amazing speakers
@@Jagistreviews Completely agree. Those into heavier bass complete w/ lights & mics then the Encore is it-though battery life is still an issue. I however, rather prefer simply just the music itself. Therefore, easily the Boombox 3. Keep up the good work Jag
@Ben MacDhui thanks and I agree, I really love my jbl bb3 I just wish the highs were a little more recessed so It was not fatiguing to listen to for long periods at high high volumes
@@Jagistreviews That's fair. Same has been said with its bass roll off. But that's meant to prevent the driver and passive radiators from clipping at high volumes. Can't control treble like that without negative effects. Good thing JBL now has their app with an EQ, albeit 3 band-likely meant to maintain their signature sound.
@Ben MacDhui exactly I've been able to tone the highs on my bb3 down a bit which has helped quite a lot, I do wish they gave us more of an equalizer to use like at least a 5 band, but a 10 band would be even better
I think this comes down to preference and uses. They are both champs in their respective category, but if I were to choose one it would be the encore because I'm more of a homebody and the clear portability advantage of the boombox would not matter as much. Also the boombox highs are a little too forward for me, and the extra features on the encore such as lights and microphones are a nice touch.
Agreed the encore lights and microphone option are amazing, and the boombox for sure the highs are a bit much at times, and that's even with me turning them down with the eq, bur either way you really can't go wrong, I do love how the encore is just a little cube of sound all compact and nice
I personally like the Boombox sound signature better, it also goes a little deeper than the encore so I like that. By the way the Encore is 100 watts according to Jbl, nice video as always👍

Boombox 3 went under -6 db at 46hz while the Encore made it to 39hz at -6 db. everyone saying the boombox 3 plays deeper is just plain wrong. You can compare both frequancy responce graphs on rtings website and overlay them together. i would link the graph but it would just get deleted by youtube
@ALEX LITTIG rtings is way good and I utilize their website but the thing is speakers react different in different settings and inviromemts and songs and test that is why I like to battle speakers together because some seem that they should preform better than other speakers but in real life battling them together at different volumes sometime paints you a different picture, both of these speakers are dynamite by the way, can't go wrong either way
@@Jagistreviews i agree. its insane at how much sound changes depending on room. however i think the bb3 appears like it has more deep bass becasue the bass peak is actually a bit deeper than on the encore. but as the bass starts to roll off the bb3 rolls off a bit faster while the encore rolls off a bit slower. put encore in deep mode and play a 30hz bass boost track. bb3 wont play anything below 35hz but i know the encore would just at very reduced volume. the encore has more punch than the bb3 and that can mask its deeper bass. i used to have one. it was acually defective. something lose inside rattling around. i did return it but i did test it and it can just do 30hz if you can find a place in your room where bass sounds the most intense. I own a Phantom 2 and its rated down to 18hz. well thats in the most perfect conditions possible. most of my room i cant hear it below 28hz. but if i walk into my closet i can hear and measure 22hz. but nothing lower. i did measure 18hz but it was not doing it well. did not hear anything. you could tell the woofers hated life trying 18hz. i need to take my phantom 2 to my uncles house. his one room is all hard wood floors. the only thing in there is a desk and a couch. thats it. so bass resonates incredible in there. My stormbox blast was digging deeper than i ever heard it last time i brought it there. so yes real world use can sometings tell a different story than measured data. The amount of variables are off the charts.

In my medium sized bedroom (despite the rtings measurements) it peaks at 41Hz, and 38Hz. Interestingly, just 1Hz under 38 it is barely hearable, 36 is almost completely unhearable under normal circumstances (it tries playing it, if you are close and facing the passive radiators [or the main driver obviously] it does try to play it till 32-33Hz, but its absolutely unusable in the real world. I dont have an encore, but i do have a charge 5, and surprisingly, the sound of the boombox 3 is way more clean (and not suprisingly open) than it is of the charge 5, which is already a super crisp sounding speaker
I guess there is a reason the boombox 3 is more expensive then the partybox encore, due to its clarity and soundstage deliverance, and the bass may be deeper on the encore but on the boombox 3 it has more extension on the deep ends.
@Mataiasi Ravaga Kama agreed, I love both speakers but the encore is more boomy, the boombox is more punchy and tight with the bass, I like sealed speakers that are sealed with passive radiators best I think, they are just so crisp and deep and punchy
Would get the Boombox if it was one sale and available right now, I simply can't justify spending 500 dollars on a "good" speaker. For 500 I'd expect it to be able to do my dishes. Encore does everything I need, plus, who even needs more than 5h of 80% volume listening anyways. For inside, anything over 50 on the encore is already enough volume for a whole party. And with that volume you'll get a good 6-8 hours of battery life from what I've heard. Speaking of from what I've heard, what's the battery life actually like?
@parkappanigga yeah honestly the encore is one of the best speakers even though it's old, the jbl boombox 3 has a better battery and Waterproof but if you have the encore I'd wait till the boombox 4 comes out ha ha

It's also partially waterproof meaning that as long as you don't get water into the hole on the back, you're totally fine. Those minute details are not at all worth spending almost double on it. And in EU the encore is on sale for 250EUR, meaning, the boombox is more than double the price of a single encore. Not worth it. When the next encore comes out with the interchangable batteries like on the club 120, club 320 and xtreme 4, it will probably be the best speaker overall (quality, sound, features, price, battery life and looks)
From what I remember the bb3 was slightly louder, both have great bass I think the bb3 has slightly lower bass response but the encore has more powerfull drum kick bass
Honestly the sound of the encore sounds best to be but only by a tiny margin, I love it for in the house but if I'm going to the park then I take the boombox 3 because it's Waterproof and the battery last longer

Seems like the Encore is to your liking. I perfer the BB3 just due to the overall package and when I compair the 2 its going to be with the Boombox 2 and partybox 110. Also what made you get the regular Encore 🤔
Honestly both are really amazing, I think I actually barely prefer the sound of the bb3 better but it's not by much, also I got the regular encore for the better battery life and possibly slight better sound, I'm excited to see your reviews 😀
@@Jagistreviews Nice. When I first saw the Encores at CES 2022 I thought they weren't anything special but the Encore did surprise me. At first I used it more than the Boombox 3 and same with the PB 110 but over the couple of weeks I came back to the Boombox 3 just because how well it separate the sound. The Encore really start to struggle with real heavy bass music taking its toll on the highs at 60% volume which is already pretty damn loud and when I heard the intro to your video I was like he remembered 😄 but yea I wouldn't update to version 28. And I look forward to making more review s when I can. The Tronsmart Bangs review are coming this week

I bought both of these during black friday sale. I still havent unboxed them but with the huge price difference between these two ($350 boombox/$180 encore) I got them for I may be returning the boombox 3. What do you think?
Both are such good speakers, the encore has a more booming bass in my opinion, but the bb3 has a better battery and is Waterproof so the choice is yours, I'd keep both ha ha
both speakers are great. i bought boombox 3 because of a sound outside and battery life. I listen to a lot of jazz music so it is just perfect!

Encore has more bass-granted, but boomier. I prefer the sound separation of the Boombox 3

In my opinion yes the boombox plays deeper, but the bass is a bit louder on the encore in the 50 hertz range
Boombox can only do 46 hz -3db and the encore is very close to 40hz -3 db per rtings measurements.
