    T480:
    2 Ram slots
    Bridge battery
    External battery (with extended 6 cell option)
    Better webcam slider
    T490:
    Better screen options
    slimmer bezels
    I got a T480 and put a LPFHD panel made for the T490 in it. I got the extended battery and battery life is amazing. CPU and GPU options are basically the same, so I think T480 wins overall.

    • @MihniGaming
      @MihniGaming 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Yulad_A Yes you can swap the screens and it is a fairly simple process but you need to be aware about the connector. Most T480's have 30 pin connectors and a lot of nicer 14 inch screens have 40 pin connectors so you usually need to swap the conenctor.

    I considered a T490 when I was buying my new laptop, but the T480 extended battery and capability of ram upgrade sealed the deal for me... The only thing I think could be better is definitively the screen.

    I like the compact footprint but I wish it had an External battery, that what makes the T-Series special.

    • @GreenGreenStore
      @GreenGreenStore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers for the reply. That's a popular view from the T-series owners.
      I suppose that with fast charge support on the T490, and better external USB-C batteries prices these days (with Power Delivery), gradually the USB-C batteries will become the norm. If you think about it - the power bridge battery is often machine-specific and once the machine stops working/is lost or similar - then the spare battery no longer is useful. Whereas if you had a USB-C power pack, that could power the next ThinkPad/phone externally.
      Obviously, external batteries won't have the stability of a power bridge battery which you can fit into the laptop.

    I cannot understate the importance of a great battery life on a laptop. I went for the T480 and purchased a higher rated/spec'd removeable battery just so that I don't need to take a charger with me.

    The T490 is close to my T480S in terms of size. How's the screen quality, is it FHD or the WQHD? The T480S has a dull mediocre screen at FHD and I was wondering if Lenovo didn't cheap out on the screen. Nice review mate.

      This unit has the standard FHD IPS. We're just glad that FHD IPS has became the new norm, if you think back to those 1366x768 TN panels.

    1 It seems like the T490 is in some ways more comparable to the T4x0s line than the previous T4x0 line?

      Takes a little to adjust to. Generally it's sometimes sensible to get external mouse where possible.

      @@John-ys4ji Did you end up getting used to the trackpad? I got a T490 yesterday and I hate it compared to my T460.

      @@fredericom2650 sadly I didn't, it feels so cheap and like sticky because it doesn't have a glass track pad, also the palm rejection sucks, there are mods for a glass trackpad but I haven't done it to mine because it's still under warranty, other than that it's a good device

      @@John-ys4ji Yeah, I find the same thing with mine. I doesn't respond well at all. The older generations definitely felt better. The T490 does feel cheap and plasticky all over, maybe it's because I'm used to the weight of traditional thinkpads.
