The bottom cover of the T480s doesn't have plastic tabs holding it in place, therefore it's much easier to take apart without worrying about those plastic tabs breaking. Every time you remove the bottom cover of the T480, you risk breaking those plastic tabs, and once that happens, the bottom cover won't seat or screw in correctly.
So many reasons to pick up a 480s over a 480 rite now, here are just a few. 480 is so over priced rite now (with the 490 not being modular and the hype of the 480 being better, people have forgot the 480s exists and you can pick one up a lot cheaper.) 480s is almost as modular 24gb of ram is more then enough for 99% of us. 99% of us do not really need the extra battery life the battery life on the 480s IS GOOD Battery is replaceable on the s to. 480s has better build materials.. 480s has a simple and easy glass trackpad upgrade, just google it. 480s gives you something so close to a 480 most of us would not realise the difference but in a lighter smaller more sleek form factor the footprint difference is noticeable I've seen both units in person. These are just some of the reasons I chose to own a 480s over a 480 for programming.
Actually, the T480s supports 40gb and the T480 supports 64gb "unofficially" because Lenovo's official maximum supported RAM capacities were listed before 32gb SODIMMs were available. Also, although the T480 can be equipped with larger batteries, the T480s has fast charging, 0-80% in 60 minutes.
You forgot that, the 480s has also better SSD NVME reading/writing speeds as it uses more PCIE bandwith (T480 has X2 while the 480s has x3) And that the 480s offers way faster charging speeds, you can use it with a power bank to hugely extend battery life.
I just bought accidentally T480s thinking that its T480 but with typo from online seller lol 😅 Coming from Macbook Pro user of 10yrs. But I remember wanting thinkpads back in the day. This is finally my time to use thinkpads, I know I'm late for the party. It'll arrive next week and I hope I'll enjoy it.

the one thing the t80 has going for it is 2 ram slots - so dual channel ram and that can actually make you PC seem snappier, BUT its M.2 PIE-E is only x2 vs x4 for the T480s. so hard to pick man..

another thing that makes easier to choose between those two.
@@rezaosman92 well, the T480 is really the beefed up version
Thank you so much for this comparison in details. Super helpful!! super appreciative!!

thanks for the summary,
you forgot to mention the keyboard on t480s feels very shallow compared to the other one.

Would you suggest the thinkpad T480s for coding and staff? Is it smooth?? Because I know that all devices code but not the same performance.

@@ITFIX ah ok
Do the T480 and T480s both have backlit keyboards? Or just the T480?
They are both options. If you are buying used, make sure you see a light logo on the side of the space bar.
En el botón de F9 suele llevarlo el logotipo si lleva luz el teclado y en otros modelos en la barra de espacio
Also to note, T480 is limited to 2-lanes of Thunderbolt 3 while T480s provides 4-lanes of speed
I think the 2-lanes on TB3 on T480 are only the case in dGPU models.
Correct!
Sorry can u explain ?
Which one do you recommend?
If you are looking for a new one - t480s, if you need a budget laptop - t480
@@ITFIX thanks for your reply :)
Is the screen on the T480s bearable? I'm a bit worried
fadi habbouche It’s fine, and you’ll get a lot more battery life from it versus a WQHD screen.
Does the Lenovo T480 share the same keyboard with the T480's?
No, they are different parts

So t480s is pretty much just better
To my old self... Yes 😂😂😂
