It must be really difficult to get spare parts for a Unimog in the USA. That's a nice video, thanks for that.
OMG, I admitted the MANN filters when I was working as a warehouse clerk for an auto parts supplier in Berlin. There are thousands of different sizes. You have to know what you are ordering so that it fits later.
Love and best health wishez to u and all u love from Germany

Great video! I like how you clean everything well once you’ve taken it apart. Would like to go for a ride in that truck!

For future reference - The correct starting procedure with empty filters is to restrict fuel flow (push down the idle control / fuel stop valve on the middle console) and then crank the engine until the oil pressure gauge show some life.

Good info. Although I do not think I have any way to restrict fuel flow. The idle lever is always as low as it can go and truck starts immediately. I will look into that more though

@MichielBrandOUTofDOORS, do you mean reduce hand throttle to nothing and crank the engine with just the starter until the oil gauge shows some life? (Just want to make sure I'm understanding correctly)

Oil is better than no oil... Good oil is better than bad oil. Oil changed often is better than kept for 10,000 plus miles. It is expensive to do it every 5000miles but engines that are changed regularly have always been immaculate in my experience.

Ah yes you got the single cartridge filter easy mistake to make! And as far as oil use a heavy duty higher Zink oil for the Delisle engines 15w40 is great and Shell oil is pretty good stuff! I'm from Australia and use penrite convoy dfx 15w40 has a higher Zink content compared to regular Delisle oils.

Why not just contact either Mercedes Benz, the Gaggenau Unimog museum or Shell and ask someone?
