Not many people know but the *pixel 6a has the same rigid oled Samsung panel used on the pixel 7.* They just enabled the 90Hz and boosted brightness from 1100nits to 1400nits on the Pixel 7.
*The cameras on the pixel 6a are insane too.* The software, security, haptics etc are flagship grade. The speakers, performance and battery life is good too. *It's already leagues above Galaxy A54 in most areas.*
And now, the pixel 7a has upgraded camera sensors, a 90Hz panel and wireless charging on top of it... that's just crazy.
*Btw, I was extremely disappointed by the Mkbhd's galaxy A54 review.* I mean he stated it had aluminium frame which is false, it's actually plastic and the percentage scores he gave Galaxy A54 against S23U were ridiculous. *I mean, stating Galaxy A54 has 80% of the display of S23U is just plain crazy.*
I mean I've the Galaxy A54, it's 120Hz panel feels choppy af....Mkbhd skipped that but grilled Pixel 6a like crazy and it's not even choppy. *Pixel 6a opens 3 apps when my Galaxy A54 manages to do one.*
My 2-3 year old Galaxy A52s is way smoother and has much better performance than the Galaxy A54.
After testing Galaxy A54 as a senior xda dev, I feel what samsung is doing with it's A-50 series is just so sad. *The A-series peaked at Galaxy A52s in my humble opinion.* The upcoming Nothing phone 2 and Pixel 7a will kill the A-50 series tbh.
    Cheers 🥂

First of all, great and very honest review of this device!! Second, I have a Pixel 6A as a secondary phone to me iPhone 13 and honestly, I cannot in good conscience say that there is a marked difference in functionality and performance. People talking about the 60hz refresh rate and bashing the 6A ignore the fact that the iPhone 13 has the same refresh rate (and at almost twice the price point!)
Next, the camera. My wife compared photos with her iPhone 13 and my Pixel 6A (with everything at stock normal point and shoot settings) and in some of the shots, the Pixel photos were better, and almost always right on par with the more expensive almighty iPhone! And as you mentioned Mark, with the Pixel, you will be getting updates and software fixes for quite some time. Even people that spent $1,400 on a new Galaxy device, will be running the older iteration of Android behind the mid tier priced Pixel 6A! I know this personally, having purchased a brand new Galaxy Note before and then almost 1.5 years in and they still had not updated it to the newest version of Android (running almost 2 versions behind!)
All that said, again, kudos for the great summation of a great device!! Keep it up bro!!!

6a has a guaranteed Android version update until at least July 2025 and guaranteed security updates until at least July2027. Pixel7Pro has guaranteed updates until at least Oct2025 and Oct 2027 respectively. That's obviously great news! I got my May 1st 2023 Pixel updates on, you guesed it, May 1st 2023.

Was using poco f1 before getting pixel 6a. The difference of 60hz between these two phones is huge. 60 hz in pixel 6a feels more smooth and also feels like having a higher refresh rate than usual 60hz.

so far owned the Pixel 3A ,4A and 6A.
Ended up buying the Pixel 7 Pro and it was the first time I ever had a regret buying a Pixel , because I payed 850 £. for an extra 50 £ at that price you can get 3 Pixel 6A phones when they are discounted at 300£ . so it's a no brainer .

Can't wait for the 7a which will tick all the extra boxes.

Great video. Always gotta keep the price in mind when looking at lower end specs. Definitely don't think the camera on a $1000 phone is $700 better than the 6a. But I'm also not much of a photo person. On another note, I have used a 120hz refresh rate (my work phone) and a 60hz rate (personal phone) & I legit can't see a difference, so I don't know why everyone makes a huge deal of it. Maybe my eyes are bad but I see no change switching from one to the other throughout the day.

But being that I'm an Android guy I gotta totally recommend the Google pixel 6a.. it's beating the crap out of most phones.. I feel like this phone would be a no brainer if it had a 256gig storage option. 128 isn't enough nowadays when keeping a phone for a couple years. Couple that with the heating issues from that chip that reports have said, shut off the cameras and prevent usage when hot like that, also while using GPS? That's why I passed. A 256gig option with zero heating issues? It would have been a must buy, for me.

I have a 6a. It does get warmer than most phones I have had in the past. But I live in Arizona and I have not had it shut down on me or shut off the cameras due to overheating. @@ojasviverma7055 i just got my phone few mins back. Yet to install all the apps. But looks great. Very light weight and compact. I'm not a heavy user so perfect for me.

@@ojasviverma7055 yes it supports 5g. I've been using it for a day and there's no problem. Even the battery life is good. Phone doesn't heat up much as others may have mentioned. It depends on your usage. This is a one hand phone. It's compact. If you're a light user and want a good camera Google pixel is the best.
