- Wow! A nice long run on the lanes today, taking in 'The Missing Link', Claerwen Reservoir, Lower Clarewen and the 'Golf Link' between Penrhiw-Wen and Rhayader too. Amazing views all day and some surprisingly technical driving at times! All round, great fun!
The next instalment of this series will be published next Wednesday so be sure to keep an eye out for that... heck, why not subscribe to the channel and click the little bell icon, that way when the next video comes out you'll be notified!

Really enjoyed watching your channel. I lived in the village around the hill from Elan Village so know the area well. Had a 2008 Freelander2 for the past 12 years and have used it regularly over New Forest Tracks - not serious off roading but it gets me where I need to go without any drama. Like all good Land Rovers it's been battle scared but goes like a tank🙂.
Brilliant video!! Enjoy watching the freelander on the welsh lanes!!
Loved this series/trip, great!
Nice to watch this again 1 year on.
One of the best series of UK green laning videos on TH-cam 💚 ➡ and possibly one of the longest routes. Wales looks like the last frontier for a decent off road route in the UK, with Scotland banning unpaid green laning and English with it's eco laws. Good video Joel. You'd love the Pyrenees and Catalonia in general
Thank you @Easy4x4, lovely to read this!
Lovely
Definitely have to join up with on the next one. Done my drive shafts and brake upgrade and lift kit over the weekend only to have the haldex start playing up again. It's a love hate relationship with these trucks
Joel, thanks and great memories of being back in wales, as from liverpool originally, but now down in melbourne!! I love your front set up with the light protectors and winch, as I have a Freelander 2 2013, I would love to see if I can get something similar again thanks
Hi Tony! Thank you for your kind comment. Im so pleased to hear you enjoyed the video. There are some other bits and pieces on my channel about the FL2 - this video (a modifications tour) might be of particular interest to you:

Unfortunately its now a fair bit outdated, despite being only just a year old - she's had a lot of work put into her during the last 12-15months!
Anyway, all the best, and thanks again for watching! 😁👍🚜
Getting my first 4×4 this weekend. FL2 HSE SD4

Not gunna lie....... I now want tree guards on my x-trail 😆
Great video Joel... Hope if I ever get the chance to go up to the UK to meet up with you guys
Thanks Marius, you'd be very welcome! 😁👍🚜
cracking! :)
Os free lander sao maravilhosos
Nice vid, can you tell me what are your tyre dimentions? It looks really great, and also if you did lift it a bit, or it wasnt needed. Thanks!
still prefer these longer form video's bud - looks like a cracking trip
Really Glad to hear it Tim! Hopfully they'll be more to come. - Certainly one more episode like this and then other projects coming up! 😁👍
Hi Joel
Land rovers are meant to have scratches and dents.
What tyres are you running pal
Salut, je voudrais savoir le numéro des pneus qu'il est sur le landrover freelander 2
Hi , the first lane you went along, I have been through there a couple of times in the last couple of weeks as i only live half hour drive away, is it accepted that the signs by the bridge can be ignored do you know? Cheers Richard
Hi Richard
I assume you mean the little wooden bridge on the 'missing link' (western end of Claerwen reservoir), this section of lane is only accessible on a permission basis from the Elan Vally Trust. - Permission is easily achieved but is granted on a one-off basis and they'll require information on what date you'll be using the lane and the size of your convoy. To the best of my knowledge you can apply for permission as many times as you wish.
I hope that all helps. 👍
@@JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor excellent, that 100% helps, I have requested to join your FB group also, just gradually watching your other vids 👍🏻
Great stuff Richard we look forward to having you in the group! Enjoy the videos, feel free to share! (Feedback is always welcome too!)
how did you sleep comfortable in your freelander ime 5ft 11 inches and was in wales i was lucky to get 2 hours sleep worth it for the views and scenery though will do it again this time we a tent. And use my Freelander as an emergency leaky tent alternative.
Thanks for the question "XTrails Extra"! Im 5ft 8in so fit very comfortably in the back of my FL2. (I assume from your channel name that you're in an XTrail? It may just be the different design that causes you issues in yours.)
I have on occasion slept 3 adults in the back of mine on trips where weather or location mean that being under canvas is not a viable option. I use a climbing bouldering matt and a couple pillows, duvet etc and the whole rear load space can be used as one large and very comfortable sleeping platform - just pop your sleeping bag on top and 1,2 or 3 of you can easily get a good nights kip in the back. 👍
@@JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor my old car was a nissan xtrail but my new one is a freelander to be honest with you i did wales in my xtrail and at least another 6 inches longer in the back than my freelander. but i will do it again great channel by the way glad i found you.
Thanks @@xtrailsextra 👍
where did you get your upgraded shocks from?
They are bilstein B6's, supplied by MuddyMods for me. 👍
@@JoelSelfOutdoorInstructor thanks mate.
Nice to watch this again 1 year on.
