the show was about music. corny as it could be at times I think he respected that. he clearly knew perfect day was a favorite over there and wanted to please.
He didn't ask too many stupid questions that pissed off Lou Reed a lot. However Jools Holland has no charisma nor personality. I have seen Squeeze a few times and they never spoke highly about him. I think he used the band for his own gains and left the band twice.
perfect day always struck me as forbidding. the pleasure he's receiving stem from mundane experiences that hit only because of the person he's with, and the knowledge it won't last. it's just as fleeting and devasting as any of his songs about heroin. the same exact thing. if the piano and strings don't get the point across he literally ends with "you're going to reap just what you sow".
@Simon McCreath I've managed to find out that this was from Season 21, 16th May 2003, on Later with Jools Holland. The rest of the guests were - Goldfrapp, Kings of Leon, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, The Vines, McKay. Lou mentions that 'thet were there the last time he was here. Looking at the episode list, this could be 20th May 2000. The guest list was Lou Reed, Kelis, Broadcast, Kylie Minogue, Bert Jansch, M.J.Cole. ..... although can't find the person in any of these bands lineups called Stephanie.
I appreciate the upload, but what’s the deal with your watermarks scattered throughout the video if you don’t own the rights to the footage? Or are you selling the unwatermarked footage?
I've run out of superlatives for your content Steevee. Thanks for what you do, you make me smile every day! I remember this broadcast, shame the label didn't allow us to relive the tunes.

So happy for Lou here, he looks so with it and happy.
Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
I've never--ever--seen him so relaxed and open (for Lou)
Lou was being friendly and accommodating. It might have helped that Jools Holland is a musician and Lou is comfortable with the show.
I can now say that I've seen a band that Low Reed is a fan of. Also, I saw him pat the back of a man asking him questions.

Wow! He looks great here. 2003 doesn’t feel like long ago but I grew a whole teenage human since then🤣
Fabulous
Glad you enjoyed this video Jay🙂
Whoa, Lou as accomodating as you'd ever dream, and Jools giving him the brush at the end!
Lou was charming here 😂 please show him playing his songs
Wow Lou was being nice 😊 and holland was being his usual poor presenter self.

he's a boob. the format doesn't help. reed was feeling conversational and got cut off before he could finish complimenting him
Thanks STV!

Lou darling 💘💘
What a Legend
3pm perfect ❤️
Wow. Lewis in optimistic form. And smiling. There go my preconceptions of the great man.
Does anyone know which artist Lou is referring off camera, about the deep bass and the drums?

Just a guess, but maybe The Vines.
He's referring to the bass player from Mckay (Stephanie, also from New York) - the one on the record of McKay playing is Joe Allen
@@biomorv Great detective work! Thank you! 😎
What's up with that "woudnt know a perfect day if it hit him" at the end?
Bit him. They’re both joking
Lou really got some milage out of Jools complimenting him. He really came out of his shell or opened up
Lou reed a fan of squeeze? That never would have crossed my mind
why not...?(!)

I heard Lou was drinking again towards the end, not sure if it’s true or not
?
According to Cale he was.
Hadn’t heard this. Wonder if it’s true.
Cale was very saddened by this fact. In some interview he talked about it. So I'm sure it's true.
You don't mean here, do you? or do you?
Lou preferred musicians to journalists
He surely did my friend
very healthy???? i mean…
f-u lou
