I sense a real stylistic shift with this video. It feels more finely crafted. But, I missed having Dean as our tour guide.

Hearing about your foot was like when I heard about Stephen King getting hit by a car before he finished The Dark Tower story. I was so worried we would never get to read the end. He bounced back, and so did you. I'm glad you're creating again. Best of luck to you.

I enjoy that this video eschews trying to have Dean tell us about this neighborhood and instead lets the viewer just experience it themselves via the cinematography and the use of interviews. It's incredibly effective and for a neighborhood like The Strip it feels very on point. I do wish we got the bike test back though!

One of the most deceptively simple neighborhoods in the city. And you nailed it by starting with a recent development/planning meeting for the strip. Nicely done!

My heart is full seeing the Sunseris, the Wholeys and the Stamoolis families still there. When my Dad first took me to the Strip 70-some years ago, was the first time I met them. Our neighborhoods are all about family and tradition. The generation Z folks and the techies are moving to Pittsburgh and are giving new life to the 'burgh while embracing who we are. Thanks, Dean, for the great work that you do.

We love the Strip District! My husband and I lived in Crafton for almost 2 years and went to the Strip as much as possible. Pittsburgh is in our hearts. That said I had to pause the video in shock during the interview with the VP of Wholeys - we have ABSOLUTELY purchased Orange Juice from him while he was working! That was so cool to see as we thought he was just another employee!

Really high quality video! I love the strip district... one of my two favorite places in the city. Pennsylvania Macaroni Co., Lotus, the kimchi from Sambok, the tortillas from Reyna's. Shopping at a place like target crushes my soul, but shopping in the strip district is truly a treat.

I discovered your channel a couple of days ago. I guess I was missing Pittsburgh. I grew up there. I have not been back since I moved to the west coast in 1965. I've ducked all my High School reunions (Bethel Park HS - class of 63). I'm glad to see so much recognizable turf. I used to take the Streetcar downtown for 35 cents. Too bad about the streetcars. Thank you for your beautiful work!

Seeing the planning meeting and the other stores that are trying to keep the old feel of the strip is very interesting. I hope they do not drive out the vendors that make that place so special in favor of building condos and office buildings. I’ve been seeing that a lot lately in big cities and I hope they have the foresight to not wipe away the things that make Pittsburgh special.

Unlike some of his other PGH neighborhood sketches that have a certain palette of revelation, this is more of a collage. Not for any other reason than he fact that the Strip growth is so transitional. Though many of the heritage businesses can and will survive the transformation, who they cater to has already been turned over from the Yinzers and Babushka Mamas to the Zillennials and New Techies. That is what is happening in much of Pittsburgh, and it is not a bad thing per se -- just inevitable.

I work at a hotel and my favorite thing is telling tourists to go down to the Strip.
“Yeah, just over the hill, you wanna go down the Strip, it’s great!”
    “The STRIP?!”
“Yeah, the Strip District! It’s real fun.”
And that doesn’t clarify anything for them, really, so they have to go check it out themselves. Some people honest to god think it’s our red light district 😂 “The STRIPPING district?” “No, just the Strip.”

Hey all, I’m in Pittsburgh doing reconnaissance for a potential move. Any suggestions for neighborhoods? Looking for walkable, bike-able, affordable, good food options,……We’re in our late sixties, left leaning, healthy active lifestyle,…. I’m a musician,photographer,videographer,…..my wife is a yoga instructor. A bit of a yard would be nice as we have a dog and would like the option for a place to sit outside with a little privacy. I’m staying in Bloomfield and plan on walking all day toward Shadyside, Squirrel Hill, the parks,…..maybe drive around later in the day a bit farther out. I cruised The Mexican War Streets last night and fell in love, but no way can we afford to live there. I’d preesh any suggestions, thanks!
