When I first started solving the cube (almost a month ago), I watched about 10 random videos on the beginner method and was frequently left feeling frustrated and confused, though I did struggle forward. I didn't stumble upon your channel until I was ready to learn some beginner F2L and you actually explained it in a way that I could really understand and grasp, and I immediately ditched the 'piece by piece' way of solving the first 2 layers and went with the F2L that I learned from you. I am now working on teaching my kids-an 8 year old and a 2 year old-to appreciate cubing. I especially enjoy watching my 2 year old daughter (who's adorable, by the way) pick up my mini 3.5 mm cube and carry it around the house twisting away saying, "my cube," and watching her pretend to adjust the spring tensions endlessly =D Anyway, this comment is mostly technically pointless-i.e. lacking any actual specific point-but I figured I'd share my experience of how something so seemingly trivial as you teaching an unknown old guy to solve a cube can trickle down to a 2 year old, who, it is my hope, will be able to solve a cube also when she is slightly older. Just got 59.078 just under 1min, but I passed my goal and it was all because of the tip in the beginning about inserting the corner peice quicker, but I just wanted to thank you💯🙏🙏
I accidentally stumbled on the trick ya show at 3:50 or so. About flipping the lower edge line to top twist it 180 then work the middle row and turn your finished edge back and flip that whole side. Ok so if ya follow me u can use this truck to do the whole middle layer. It's complicated and not move efficient but will solve the mid layer. I have been playing with cubes for years before giving up and watching a video to learn the correct moves. I surprised myself by having actually taught myself to finish top two layers without learning any official moves or strategies. Would always lose everything I had finished trying to get the third layer done. Your videos helped me FINALLY solve a cube. I'm 45 and was given my first cube at like seven or eight years old. So yeah I'd get obsessed with it work on it for weeks and give up in frustration leave it for a while start all over. U sir helped an old idiot learn a BUNCH of new tricks lol. I now can finish it in under ten minutes with this beginner method from memory. ( meaning I'm no longer having to stop to watch the videos or look at the diagrams I drew. Anywho I'm now solving it couple times a day to get the memorization down better. Then move on to faster methods. THANK YOU. Ya got a whole family into cubing, my wife even got the bug, lol. Rare video that hits the spot for us mortals stuck with the beginner's method! Another trick that will speed you up is to not flip the cube to the white side at the end. Just hold is as-is, yellow up and solve the corners by pushing them down, instead of up. You'd need to reverse you formula for corners but it's basically the same stuff just flipped.
when i used your method i got a new pb 1.15 and before that when i used your beginner method i got around 1.45 .Thanks:) Edit: I’m using CFOP now don’t worry🤩

Hi jperm, I just wanted to thank you for your videos. Around 10 years ago i started cubing, but it was harder to find good tutorials and explanations for each method. Back then my pb was 36 seconds and i never thought i'd get better and stopped cubing eventually. 1 year ago i started cubing again when a friend came with a rubik's cube and it made me want to speed cube again. I then stumbled upon your videos and learn a lot. Yesterday i got my first sub 10 seconds, a PB i never thought I could achieve but you made that possible. This was exactly what I needed, so noob friendly. I don't want to learn cfop yet because I solved my first cube yesterday, but I do want to see how to do some extra tricks just to prepare my fingers and brain for CFOP
Really good video. I'm a speed cuber and recently my friend has been trying to learn, and it's sometimes hard for me to teach and explain stuff to him since I keep wanting to do it an "easier" way since I'm used to that and havent done beginner method in years lol
• when a solved edge is there (+ white on the side) U (face the white), 4 moves, put it back to insert it • when a solved edge is there (+ white on top) do 4 moves 3 times • 2nd layer with whole side solved, but wrong out sides hold one on the side, R2 U2 R2 U2 R2 •just one piece flipped hold on the right side R U2 R’ now put the corner with white on the side so you see it & do again & insert corner • top cross, put backwards L on front right double layer front move, 4moves & undo • no yellow edge solved: do regular front move, 4 moves & undo •2 opposites do the up algorithm, but U’ and do algorithm • matching corners look at the left corner from the correct one if no color matches, only 1 algorithm if the is one correct color, hold it on the left hand instead & do algorithm starting left • matching corners when yellow facing you, do the algorithm backwards

Thanks to this guy I always solve my 3x3 whenever I’m bored, and it’s a joy to always be able to solve a cube. I’m able to solve them pretty fast after the first tutorial, but I bet that I can do it even faster with this one.
Same, I just learned how to solve a Rubik’s cube yesterday from this guys tutorial and I can say that if you are bored and have nothing to do, it is really fun to just pick the cube up and solve it.
@@mahdahmadzahid7692 for me none of them helped because they would do a step and my cube wouldn't be in the formation needed to keep following along and I had to wait, for me cubeheads was the best because after every step he stopped and told you every possible way your cube could look and if it didn't you had done it wrong.

I started solving the Rubiks cube with your other video and started taking these shortcuts last night. I’m not really shaving off a lot of time, I find myself “looking” more. Mostly because I am dyslexic and have to take a second look at the little cube I just looked at. I’m sure I will get better once I get familiar with what colors are connected to which little cube. I’m only using two sometimes three of the shortcuts, later on I’ll try doing the others. Before the shortcuts I was solving the cube a little over three minutes and now with the shortcuts I am under three minutes. Thank you so much for doing these videos! God bless!! Blue
I love j perm for tuturials of rubriks cube it was my fear to solve but did it in 1 hour 30 MI iutes at first but now I can do it I under 3 minutes with beginner method and now learning cfop u earned a sub dude

Q: many years ago, there was a rubiks 3x3 solve book that had a pattern I don't recall that moved three cubes around the 2nd layer which would be most helpful instead of moving one out then replacing those three one at a time. For example, RF -> RB -> LB -> RF. However, the cube was turned on its side prior to doing the pattern, so the actual cubes moved in the new orientation were UF -> UB -> DB -> UF. Does anyone know and can post that pattern?
Man these videos are awesome, my kids got me a crappy plastic Rubik's brand cube for Christmas, I finally got into it and made my first ever solve on Saturday, and as of Wednesday I'm averaging about 2:30 a solve, and ordered a speed cube! I want to get under 60 seconds on average by the end of April
I got the fastest time of 2 minutes 13 secs and when I try to solve it then it will be between my fastest time or faster or 2 minutes and 30 seconds or higher that’s if the cube was bad and it got either messed up in a way that make me repeat a certain step or I forgot what to do next or if I am looking around the cube to find stuff so help please any tips from you guys

I have discovered a way to save your solved edges (2.30). I spun the middle horizontally, inserted my piece and then moved the middle horizontally (back to where I started).
For hint 8, for beginners like me, while it's not necessarily that complex of an algorithm, since it's new it might confuse you or you'll forget, I realized an easy way to remember it is that it's the same as the first steps of the algorithm you would do for the step before this (lining up the corners). That one is U, R, U', L', U, R', U', L (or top pushed with right hand, right side up, top pushed left hand, left side up, top pushed right hand, right side down, top pushed left hand, left side down). Well this new algorithm that is the right trigger backwards, is the same first 3 moves of that algorithm (top pushed with right hand, right side up, top pushed with left hand...) and then the 4th move is right side down, instead of left side up.
I have learnt to solve cube under 4minutes from other tutorial, but the short cut tricks you teach are really helping me to reduce the time. It's really a great tutorial and you explain really well. Thank you.
It's crazy how the human brain optimizes stuff. I only watched the first beginner method video and practiced that for 2 weeks and I figured out the cross, first layer corners and look ahead optimizations.
As someone who learned beginner, and never really went past that (tried a couple times to learn fancier things but I was young and learning new stuff was haaarrrrrrrrd) all of this is blowing my mind, AND I've learned 2 or 3 things that I've always said 'THERE HAS TO BE A WAY AROUND THIS INSTEAD OF JUST DOING THIS EXTRA STEP TWICE TO GET BACK TO IT' so good lordy lord thank you man!
I started by learning the beginners method and wanted to get faster, but without learning the other methods, I watched this video and realised J perm just taught me the other methods without me realising.
It's really interesting to see how a professional cuber is trying to explain hove to solve a 3x3. He doesn't even do double flicks because it may confuse some people xD
The only thing that was tricky was probably the switching from only white to other colors as the center piece but also very interesting. I just started cubing two days ago and I’m kinda impressed of how much progress I’ve done. I’m currently upgrading to a better cube.(it’s on its way;)) and I just wanna say thank you JPerm because you thought me how to solve a Rubik’s cube😁
This video is perfect for me. I've always wanted to solve a Rubix cube, and now that I have, getting faster times is my goal. I don't care enough to be an uber fast world record holder, but solving a 3X3 in a minute or less would be my ultimate goal. My current record is 3 minutes, with an average of 6 minutes, depending on the scramble and mistakes I make. I'm getting there!
I'm a beginner and i found this to be very useful, just one note to consider: when the white face front and the right match its near center, it actually goes same left hand algorithm.. same as if the white on right the the face color match its near center.. i learned this watching you and try it myself.. i didn't need the other double moves when my white face center

This is exactly the video I wanted. To build off of what I already learned. While practicing the beginner method I didn’t even consider the number of moves. And I only focused on one piece at a time. I’ve only watched a 4th of this video and practiced the moves. It’s neat to complete a corner in 8 moves vs 11, or keep one piece solved while solving another.

I just learned the long way memorising the standard 5 algorithms and feel insanely proud for some reason.

From j perms video video in 1 week i am able to solve it under 1 minute and 30. Became a sub 90 solver.

look at the left corner from the correct one
if no color matches, only 1 algorithm
if the is one correct color, hold it on the left hand instead & do algorithm starting left

when yellow facing you, do the algorithm backwards

Thanks to this guy I always solve my 3x3 whenever I’m bored, and it’s a joy to always be able to solve a cube. I’m able to solve them pretty fast after the first tutorial, but I bet that I can do it even faster with this one.

Same, I just learned how to solve a Rubik’s cube yesterday from this guys tutorial and I can say that if you are bored and have nothing to do, it is really fun to just pick the cube up and solve it.
@@mahdahmadzahid7692 for me none of them helped because they would do a step and my cube wouldn't be in the formation needed to keep following along and I had to wait, for me cubeheads was the best because after every step he stopped and told you every possible way your cube could look and if it didn't you had done it wrong.

I started solving the Rubiks cube with your other video and started taking these shortcuts last night. I’m not really shaving off a lot of time, I find myself “looking” more. Mostly because I am dyslexic and have to take a second look at the little cube I just looked at.
I’m sure I will get better once I get familiar with what colors are connected to which little cube. I’m only using two sometimes three of the shortcuts, later on I’ll try doing the others.
Before the shortcuts I was solving the cube a little over three minutes and now with the shortcuts I am under three minutes.

I love your videos. Learned how to solve at 49 years old. PB of 43.75 and Ao5 of 57 using beginner and some of these tips. At my age I have a hard time with look ahead, but these tips should make me faster. Keep up the great content!

7:38 finger trick for last layer
Q: many years ago, there was a rubiks 3x3 solve book that had a pattern I don't recall that moved three cubes around the 2nd layer which would be most helpful instead of moving one out then replacing those three one at a time. For example, RF -> RB -> LB -> RF. However, the cube was turned on its side prior to doing the pattern, so the actual cubes moved in the new orientation were UF -> UB -> DB -> UF. Does anyone know and can post that pattern?

Man these videos are awesome, my kids got me a crappy plastic Rubik's brand cube for Christmas, I finally got into it and made my first ever solve on Saturday, and as of Wednesday I'm averaging about 2:30 a solve, and ordered a speed cube! I want to get under 60 seconds on average by the end of April

I'm 58 second
I got the fastest time of 2 minutes 13 secs and when I try to solve it then it will be between my fastest time or faster or 2 minutes and 30 seconds or higher that’s if the cube was bad and it got either messed up in a way that make me repeat a certain step or I forgot what to do next or if I am looking around the cube to find stuff so help please any tips from you guys

I have discovered a way to save your solved edges (2.30). I spun the middle horizontally, inserted my piece and then moved the middle horizontally (back to where I started).
Using beginner method I was 1 minute average
Then I learned cfop now I am sub 20

For hint 8, for beginners like me, while it's not necessarily that complex of an algorithm, since it's new it might confuse you or you'll forget, I realized an easy way to remember it is that it's the same as the first steps of the algorithm you would do for the step before this (lining up the corners). That one is U, R, U', L', U, R', U', L (or top pushed with right hand, right side up, top pushed left hand, left side up, top pushed right hand, right side down, top pushed left hand, left side down). Well this new algorithm that is the right trigger backwards, is the same first 3 moves of that algorithm (top pushed with right hand, right side up, top pushed with left hand...) and then the 4th move is right side down, instead of left side up.
I have learnt to solve cube under 4minutes from other tutorial, but the short cut tricks you teach are really helping me to reduce the time. It's really a great tutorial and you explain really well. Thank you.

The first trick alone helped me go from 2:18 seconds to 1:02! Crazy!
It's crazy how the human brain optimizes stuff. I only watched the first beginner method video and practiced that for 2 weeks and I figured out the cross, first layer corners and look ahead optimizations.

Even though I use CFOP, that second layer trick, swapping two edges with corners already put is so helpful. Thanks J perm!

As someone who learned beginner, and never really went past that (tried a couple times to learn fancier things but I was young and learning new stuff was haaarrrrrrrrd) all of this is blowing my mind, AND I've learned 2 or 3 things that I've always said 'THERE HAS TO BE A WAY AROUND THIS INSTEAD OF JUST DOING THIS EXTRA STEP TWICE TO GET BACK TO IT' so good lordy lord thank you man!
I started by learning the beginners method and wanted to get faster, but without learning the other methods, I watched this video and realised J perm just taught me the other methods without me realising.

How could you solve a pyraminx but not a 3x3? Is it easier to solve? I'm thinking about buying another cube (beside 3x3) to challenge my brain
I don't know if it's a coincidence but the colours that J perm uses for his examples are the same colours I have in the case

The only thing that was tricky was probably the switching from only white to other colors as the center piece but also very interesting. I just started cubing two days ago and I’m kinda impressed of how much progress I’ve done. I’m currently upgrading to a better cube.(it’s on its way;)) and I just wanna say thank you JPerm because you thought me how to solve a Rubik’s cube😁

This video is perfect for me. I've always wanted to solve a Rubix cube, and now that I have, getting faster times is my goal. I don't care enough to be an uber fast world record holder, but solving a 3X3 in a minute or less would be my ultimate goal. My current record is 3 minutes, with an average of 6 minutes, depending on the scramble and mistakes I make. I'm getting there!

I'm a beginner and i found this to be very useful, just one note to consider: when the white face front and the right match its near center, it actually goes same left hand algorithm.. same as if the white on right the the face color match its near center.. i learned this watching you and try it myself.. i didn't need the other double moves when my white face center

This is exactly the video I wanted. To build off of what I already learned.
While practicing the beginner method I didn’t even consider the number of moves. And I only focused on one piece at a time.
I’ve only watched a 4th of this video and practiced the moves. It’s neat to complete a corner in 8 moves vs 11, or keep one piece solved while solving another.
Your tutorials are very helpful, started cubing today, and my PB went from an 8:40 to a 3:30
